There are web based tools that can be installed to help you throgh the configuration of samba, tools like webadmin and swat. I know swat comes with some howtos which maybe useful. What version of Red Hat are you running. The problem probably lies within the XF86config files but more information is required. There is a web based tool called swat which will help setup samba. You can find the RPM for swat on the redhat distribution CD's Darren >-- Original Message -- >From: "Michael S. RE: Samba & Winbind
Mike, I do not beleive you have to recompile samba to get winbind working. You need to ensure that all the samba RPM's are installed. Once these are installed to get winbind working requires the configuration changes within files i.e /etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/smb/system-auth files. I hope this starts to help? without further information i cannot tell what you would require in the files mentioned. Re: connecting to NT server
It may be that the Linux server cannot resolve the "ntdomain" name to an I.P address. In /etc/samba/smb.conf there is a line where you can enter the I.P address of a WINS server. This may help resolved names to I.P addresses. RE: Partition Magic
Hi, Try looking at this site www.tldg.org and navigate through the HOW To's, Catergorised Index and select boot loaders and booting the OS. This helped a collegue of mine install linux onto a system running XP and allowed him during booy up to select which OS he needed to run. I hope this helps. Try running the following command winbindd -i -d5 This will go into the debug mode and should point you in the correct direction on what matbe the problem. Installing a HP 5100c Scanner
I am trying to install a HP 5100c scanner on the parallel port. When investigating for compatibility on the Web it was noted that I require modeules ppscsi and epst. I have searched the web for these to no avail. Does anybody have any idea on how I can get the scanner to work.
