Location: New York, NY

Duration: 2 Months

Rate: DOE

 

 

Please note that this is a 35 hour work week.

 

Mandatory Requirements:

1.  At least 4 + years experience in application development
2.  Expert level  (4 years +) with SQL server reporting services
3.  At least 3 +Years experience with ASP.NET
4.  At least 3 + Years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
5.  Ability to work in a team environment
6.  Ability to write technical documentation
7.  Ability to complete projects on schedule

 

Desirable Experience:

1.  Experience with Crystal Reports

*The Data Architect role is a technical leadership position responsible for
the architecture, design, and development of complex relational databases
and data warehouses*. You will participate in the definition of the overall
delivery strategy of large data initiatives such as data migration and

This person will work with technical people and end users to understand
business requirements and identify data solutions. You will develop
strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery, and implementation of

· Provide consultation on strategic direction of data warehouse and

concepts

*Qualifications**:*



· *Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or
equivalent knowledge/experience is required.*

· *Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of data and
information architecture and design*

· *Experience implementing enterprise data architectures resulting
in measurable business value that includes road mapping, domain reference
architectures, and standards management*

· *Extensive experience taking functional specifications and
translating them to technical data models and database designs*

· *Outstanding experience in RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server) in
an enterprise and mission critical environment *

· *Deep understanding of normalization, de-normalization, data
rationalization and optimization.*

· *Experience with data architectures supporting Service Orientated

· *Experience with ETL and other type’s high volume data movement,

Sr. UNIX Oracle RAC Engineer

Duration: 12 months

Location can be either Phoenix, Minneapolis, Charlotte or St Louis

Description

Responsible for design, planning, and troubleshooting activities on Red Hat
Linux, and Sun Solaris Systems running Oracle RAC. This will include
designing and documenting client solutions as well as providing guidance and
procedural direction. The UNIX administrator will also be responsible for
providing technical expertise and guidance to DBA teams and delivery
managers within the organization. The position is responsible for conducting
compatibility and feasibility studies on the operating systems listed
previously. Work with the Engineering organization to research, analyze and
incorporate emerging technologies into the UNIX environment. Prepare
thorough procedural documentation and scripting of processes for automation
of activities. Candidate must possess solid analytical, technical, written
and oral communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

§ This individual will perform design and planning activities on Sun
Solaris, and Red-Hat Systems. This will include designing and documenting
client solutions as well as providing guidance and procedural direction.

§ Administration of the UNIX and Linux environments including validating
environmental health and providing day-to-day support is a key area of
responsibility.

§ Engineering new solutions/RPMs and Patches in partnership with
Engineering organization are additional areas of responsibility.

§ The individual will also research, analyze and incorporate emerging
technologies into the UNIX environment.

§ The Investment Banking business is very dynamic with many un-anticipated
changes. Deriving solutions in close partnership with the line of business
and being quick-on-ones-feet is a needed trait for this position.

§ Versatility is key measure to the success of this position. Demonstrable
versatility between flavors of UNIX/Linux mentioned above will be a plus.
Additionally, candidates with versatility in the areas of Storage
Management, Performance Management (or) Database management will succeed in
this position.

§ The candidate must demonstrate the ability to understand the business and
the application. Candidates who have done work engineering solutions for the
business will be successful in this position.

§ The candidate must have a deep knowledge of Oracle RAC running on UNIX

§ The candidate must have a solid working knowledge of Veritas VCS
clustering technology

Skill Requirements

§ At least 7 years of experience administering, monitoring and managing
Solaris (8/9/10), and Red-HAT environments.

§ 6+ years of experience troubleshooting and tuning Linux systems down to
the kernel level.

§ At least 3-5 years of experience with performance management and Capacity
Planning skills.

§ Over 5 years of experience with high-availability and Disaster-Recovery
using technologies such as Oracle RAC, Veritas Cluster Server, Veritas VVR,
SRDF, Hitachi True Copy.

§ Over 7 years of experience automating activities using Perl and Shell
scripting is a necessity.

§ Demonstrable experience with the administration or setup of Oracle/Sybase
is a must.

§ Demonstrable experience administering, setting-up or participating in
initiatives with application servers such as JBoss, Weblogic and Websphere
is a plus.

§ Demonstrable experience designing solutions for application with n-Tier
Architectures and GRID is a plus.

§ Demonstrable skills writing best-practice documentation and solution
documents are a necessity.

§ Demonstrable leadership skills such as managing time, managing meetings
and verbal communication skills are a must.
