My husband and I met Nina Paley in 2006 on our honeymoon in NY as a result
of serendipitious surfing on my part. We had the privilege of being given a
private showing at Nina's place and were astounded at the quality of her
work- it was still nascent and didn't have the wonderful shadow puppets used
later but the passion and viewpoint were singular. Since then we have been
contributing to the making of her film and will now contribute to getting
her work out of copyright jail (a ridiculous concept). I urge all of you to
support her in this effort even though it makes my blood boil to think that
we would still be playing by these ridiculous rules to set her work free.
I actually have two original DVDs from her and was wondering if anybody from
silk is coming to say, Seattle if not Vancouver? I could pass one copy that
can be used for viewings. Do let me know if this would be useful even if the
film is now online?
