[RCSE] The Mysterious Tx Jack?

2000-03-15 Thread Bill Kuhl

Is there some special circuitry between the transmitter charging jack and
the nicads? I made up cables to use with an expanded scale voltmeter, a
battery cycler, and a dc charger. Funny thing I was able to charge, but
could not detect any voltage at the jack. Took a Futaba transmitter apart
and checked the voltage on the wires attached to the jack, and still
nothing.

My question is, what's going on and how can I check the voltage and cycle my
batteries?

Thanks,

Bill Kuhl

http://www.mtl.marconi.ca/Docs/CMC/Components/superstar.html
something like that? I have no idea about pricing, but it weighs 0.05lb
(22g) dimensions: 1.8 in. W x 2.8 in. L x 0.51 in. H; (46 x 71 x 13 mm)

I think it would be cool if i could record the entire flight path of my
glider (like a blackbox). If it records the exact location
say every 0.5 sec i could analize it with the computer and figure out
speed etc. (that's not airspeed tho)
A neat project, alltho an autonomous sailplane tug really gets me
drooling :-)

There is no switch needed to have another start

[RCSE] FA: Monarch w/ 2 Wings & More

2000-03-15 Thread Floete

Hi, Gang: Sorry if this is a repeat but I didn't get the first message I
sent out kicked back to my mailbox so I'm wondering if it didn't get lost in
the system. Also, I believe I need some help from my betters ...
Anyway, I've put my DJ Aerotech Monarch D on eBay -- at least when I got
the plane used, I was told it was a D. Now it's in doubt, maybe it's another
version of the Monarch. Could a few of you knowledgeable types have a look
and tell me if I need to make a correction to my auction? Thanks!
Here are a few of the other details: Comes with all electronics -- Hitec
555 receiver (case removed to save weight) in the Futaba configuration (plug
in your own crystal), battery, 2 servos, and a Novak on/off switch. And
that's not all: this plane comes with two wings, the stock wing and the wing
that's sold with the Monarch D-lite. It's a little raggedy in condition but
it will fly well!
To see the auction, cut-n-paste the following url into your browser
window: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=284284167
If anyone here has any questions or wants to see more pix, be sure to let
me know!

Re: [RCSE] Flying the Cape- HELP

2000-03-15 Thread Dick Williamson

Scobie,

Cape Cod soaring sites are well covered in a summary prepared by Helmut
Lelke of the Charles River Radio Controllers. His excellent summary is on
our club web site at:

http://www.charlesriverrc.org/fields_capecodslopes.htm

One of the favorite places for slopers to stay is the Seascape Motel
because of the slope right there.

The CRRC web site has links to local weather and wind info.

http://www.charlesriverrc.org/links_weather.htm

The weather in May is often windy with warm weather winds from the
southwest and colder highs providing breezes from the Northwest. If you
are lucky, the winds will come straight out of the west and allowing
soaring at the best sites. A rare event is wind from the east which allows
sloping off the cliffs on the Atlantic side of the outer Cape.

Enjoy your trip.

Dick

[RCSE] Polarity in JR Mark VIII

2000-03-15 Thread regis white

Needed to replace the Tx battery and sniped the leads where it was patched.
Unfortunately, I did not pay enough attention to polarity - assumed black =
neg. etc. (This Transmitter does not have the usual JR stick battery pack.)
I make up a new pack and was ready to connect. OH, oh - no black wire. It
has a red and WHITE wire. BUT the orientation of the red wire is opposite
that of my two other JR TXs (and they booth have Red and Black leads). OK,
looking in the TX with the back off, and focusing on the battery plug
(connector) in the Tx; IS NEG to the left or right? Any body out there
still have a Mark VIII? Any help will be appreciated. Regis

I didn't see how to do this - since you can't normally get more than one
AIL or FLP out of a 5ch RX (?). Chris explained (patiently) that he does
it by turning AIL differential on, which then sees AIL on 1and 7 and FLP on
5 and 6. Twiddling with the amount of differential (and setting the ACTUAL
differential with ATV), somehow works.

Incidentally Don's book discusses some quick soldering to get any or all 8
ch our of a 555 or 535. Info also found somewhere on the web as I recall.

Either way it is not entirely obvious or simple! Thus the improved Super8...

There is audio, but you have to turn the volume up all the way to hear it.
I'm sorry about the poor vidoeography. I was forcing my wife to take the
