[RCSE] F3F race july 29th at Laguna Niguel
Here are the results of the F3F race at Laguna Niguel. Conditions weren't great, as the times will attest, but other than a 1/2 hour intermission while we waited for some sort of atmospheric system to go inland, the wind was reasonably consistant. It was fairly cool, and MUCH nicer than the searing conditions inland. We were able to fly 4 rounds with 16 pilots, and had no problems to speak of. Very smooth. I had never CD'd anything before, so I didn't fly, as I anticipated having to be available for "stuff" during the contest. Turns out I could have flown, no problemo. GREAT bunch of guys, some really polished flying, and generally lots of fun. I will be hosting more, and I am thinking that there is real potential in F3F to resurrect slope-racing on the west coast. ..I know today when I went out, there was a bigger than usual bunch, and the "buzz" was all "let's do it again" , "let's practice" etc. etc. Conditions dictated using TD or very light F3F ships, planes like the Hera or my Psyko were ideal. A large variety of planes were flown, and everyone had fun, regardless. Placings, four rounds with no throw-out: 1. Brian Buass 3834.8 Hera/Artemis 2. Larry Jolly 3778.5 Hera/Artemis 3. Jonathan Albert 3634.0 Vindicator 4. Tom Copp3602.1 a 2meter 5. Ken Dillon 3566.0 Hera? 6. Chris Wynaught 3476.7 Vindicator 7. Dan Field 3328.9 Thermal plane 8. Nathan Woods3251.5 Hera? 9. Scott Southall 3215.2 CR Raider 10. Duane Laine 3200.9 Molded F3B Eagle 11. Frank Cavasos 3115.7 no idea 12. Scott Magnar3000.2 Vindicator 13. Dave Sanders2933.4 DAW EPP Ka-6, 1/4 scale 14. Bobby Wilson2706.9 Modified multiplex thingy 15. Ian Sanders 1936Patton EPP Be5a? 30" fighter 16. Bob Lenard 786.1 Apex II In spite of the light lift, several pilots managed to whack the hill, and/or crack up thier planes landing them. This was the cause of some of the sub-3000 scores, either by getting a zero flight (no throw-outs!) or forcing a switch to back-up planes or withdrawal. Fast time of the day was Larry Jolly, with a "blistering" 57 second run. Most all of the flights were in the 60-80 second range. [RCSE] 2M Nats results
Folks - Here are the "official" results of 2Meter from Muncie: OPEN 1 Mike Fox 12853 2 Tom Kiesling 12802 3 Phil Barnes 12540 4 Don Harris 12363 5 Calvin Posthuma 12360 6 Fred Rettig 11945 7 Ray Hayes 11710 8 Jim Johnston 11686 9 Walt Schmoll 11663 10 Steve Siebenaler 11591 Senior 1 James Brittin 8948 Junior James Marcicki 4590 Yes, there were a lot more fliers - I will let the AMA get around to posting the full results later. No, I don't know what kind of toy plane everybody flew. If you really need to know this stuff come to the contest and see for yourself ;-) The real secret here is to fly better than the other guy! Most of the rest is just marketing. Yes, the VOLUNTEERS, weather, and pilots all worked well and we got in 12 rounds. BTW - I really do appreciate "getting the bird," and Valeta says that it can live upstairs. Re: [RCSE] Super 8UHFs/UAFs switch
Hmm, are you sure? The manual for the 8UAFS says something to the effect of "if you want the three position switch to be on the right side, you sould have bought the 8UHFS." [RCSE] Canal Run X-C Race Web Page Up
Hi, Guys: The Canal Run web page is up and active. Will Sears is heading the effort as the contact man and the chairman of the Glider Guider special interest group within the club. The URL to the web site is: http://www.flyingcircuits.org/events/canalrun/index.html The cost to enter the event will be $40. Yeah, I know it's a long way off, but I just wanted to get it on as many people's radar as possible. By the way, Bob Steele, our local LSF Level 5 and Great Race survivor will be laying out the course. He's absolutely positive he can find at least a mile of "tree tunnel" for Jim Bacus and the guys from Chicago. :-) Regards, Darwin Garrison -- Garrison Aerodrome R/C Models Phone: (219)413-4122 Fax: (219)486-9761 E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.rc-aero.com or http://www.garrisonaerodrome.com RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Rob, I will be the CD on Saturday. Pilots meeting scheduled for 9:00 am.Try this link to our web site where you will be able to find direction to the field we fly at, http://www.dma.org/DARTS/. We actually have (2) seperate sanction one for each day. We will have trophies to fifth place each day. You can fly any size airplane you want from (2 meter) to unlimited. We will have flight groups of at least (6) fliers each. Let me know if you need any other information. Re: [RCSE] 50/53 MHz
The best channels are the ones that no one else is using and that have no interferance. :-)) Channels 0-9 are the newer set and are pretty close together so you can do channel changes by crystal swapping. This is legal in the ham bands. The 53 Mhz freqs are farther apart and the modules are usually not designed for crystal changing. I have not had any interferance on either set of frequencies. It is a good idea to pick up a scanner (even a cheap one) to check for clear channel just before each flight. 73 michael N6CHV AMA 77292 > Robert Bender wrote: > > I'd like to say that the response to my winch line retriever query has been > excellent. Re: [RCSE] Antenna/servo flutter
Is it possible that the reason the servos are no longer jittering is due to the difference in the pattern of the signal being sent out of these two different antenna types. I'm not the expert on this subject but the way it was explained to me is that the regular collasping antenna generates a cone shaped pattern while the rubber duck style antenna generates its strongest signal directly in line with, generally out the end of the antenna. So, while holding the plane in hand at the winch or high start the cone shaped signal would possibly affect the servos while the rubber duck antenna would not. Not that this means one is generating a stronger or weaker signal overall. The rubberduck antenna may be better for those of us that have that habit of facing our planes while we fly. This gets the antenna pointing mostly at the plane. The very spot that a regular antenna is suppose to generate its weakeest signal. At the moment I use a regular style antenna andhave experienced no problems with it. Anybody have any range problems with either style antenna? Anybody that really knows about this stuff have an opinion I would like to hear from you. Thanks, RB Art Mcnamee wrote: > > Hi Bill, > I assume the Power Duck is a short rubber ducky type of antenna. > If so, the servo flutter is probably loss of signal strength and torroid beads would > have stopped the fluttering without loss of signal strength. The signal strength >won't cause much of a problem as the receivers we > get today are pretty good but out on the fringe area > the signal strength could make a difference.
