[RCSE] DJ Aerotech...very good people!
I just wanted to tell the exchange about an experience with DJ Aerotech. I have twice called upon them for information and have received much more than I ever expected in response. I purchased a USED Wizard from a friend of mine. I wasn't sure about CG locations, etc. so I wrote to Joe and Don via email asking if they had plan sheets for sale. Don quickly replied and had me give Joe my mailing address. I had a set of plans and instructions in less than a week...for free. After a hlg contest this summer, my Wizard wing was ragged out (little too aggressive on the finger-pegs...pulled down). I wanted to fix it stronger than it was originally. I wrote Joe, asking what kind of carbon fiber weave they used to reinforce the Spectre center section and where I might get some. Joe just said send me your address and the dimensions of the piece of CF you need. Again, in less than a week I had all of the carbon fiber that I needed to repair my plane...for free. For two people supporting this hobby, I am very thankful that we have Joe Hahn and Don Stackhouse. I'm still amazed that they went out of their way to help someone who didn't even put money directly in their pockets (since I bought the Wizard as a used plane), and without any desire for remuneration. I did purchase a Chrysalis, and keep eying my friend's Spectre with "handlaunch envy." Perhaps my next plane will be from DJA too. I think of soaring as a solitary sport, or at the most something shared with a few close friends on a lazy afternoon. My time alone at the field, doing all my own set-up, fetching the parachute myself, searching the sky alone for lift is some of the best time I have. I have good people to fly with and very much enjoy their company and help, but my alone time is very valuable and important to me. OK, I'm strange. later, Bill RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[RCSE] Launching ramp
Hi, my friend Marcel Bradette built a large thermal flying wing (8 ft, 5 pounds) and he wants to build a launching ramp for it so he could hi-start it without help from someone else. We need info about building such a ramp, particularly about the release mechanism. Thank you very much -- Louis Cimon [EMAIL PROTECTED] 141 rue Mistral www.mediom.qc.ca/~lcimon/planeur.htm Beauport, QC tel : (418) 664-1023 Canada G1E 5V4 RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. I know there is a big discrepancy between the 2 candidates for off road usage, which would include flying fields. AG wants internal combustions off the planet in 25 years. The motorcycle mags have gone as far as saying voting for AG borders on being a traitor. Re: [RCSE] A Revelation!!!(for me)
Walter---Us old FF ers also use bubble machines to show us the thermals. Available at Toys R Us, and set on a pole upwind , they paint a beautiful picture of the river of air. When the bubbles are falling--dont fly. When they are going up--launch!!!Butlet me remind you that no method is foolproof. Re: [RCSE] Carbon Tow?
Burke If you will send me a mail address, I will send you 5 or 10 ft of tow. It is about 1/4 inch wide, and I have used it in spars for both FF and Sailplanes. Also strengthens the corners of a balsa fuselage, repairs, etc., etc. I have no idea what is really is size wise.Sufficient is a good word. It can be attached with thin CA or epoxy.
