Re: [RCSE] Trouble need help

2000-11-13 Thread Jon Stone

Tom,

When you email airage, if the email comes from EXACTLY the same address you
subscribed with, then the server puts the email out to the list immediately.

If the sender's address is not on the list of subscribers, then the email
sits in a queue until the moderator manually approves the email. This step
quite effectively keeps spam off of our list.

In short, if your friend wants to post to the list, he needs to do so from
the same email account he is subsribed on.

[RCSE] Trouble need help

2000-11-13 Thread Ed Berris

A friend of mine has signed up on the soaring exchange. He reports that
when he sends messages to the group that it takes as much as two days before
his mail appears on the list.

I seem to recall hearing about this before from others but do not recall
what the solution is.

What is it?

Jeeze, guys, don't you know that a "StyLIST" is one who uses a StyLUS radio?

This should be obvious, especially to those of you who are SO concerned
about the twisting of wire. (Twisted is RIGHT!) Yeah, so what?

RE: [RCSE] Hitec HS-55

2000-11-13 Thread Jim Cubbage

I have used them in two planes. They are pretty good, just keep a couple of
extra gear sets handy as I have stripped a couple. I use them for small
cheap foam planes, I have them in my Scooter and Javelin.

Has anybody used Hitec's HS-55 servos? I've heard that they are the budget
version of the HS-50. Is this true, and are they any good?

Not quite. It won't do single stick. Guess I will have to go back to RES
only when my single stick Micropro finally quits so I can use my 1971
Proline single stick. Now if my vision was as good as it used to be, I
could work on printed circuit boards and install modern electronics in one
of my old Proline transmitters. Haven't built a transmitter, receiver, or
servo in almost 20 years but I might have to try.

You would think this until you had and used a dedicated camber slider. I
used to do it the way you describe with a 8103. Now I have the slider with
the 10x and it is worth it to me.

I only forgot to switch to landing mode once (after several seasons of
flying), and tried to land with the camber mode active on a relight
situation in F3J... that was the last time. (Everyone got a laugh, I lost
a lot a valuable time.) No more having separate camber / landing mode on
the throttle stick for me.

Re: [RCSE] Which computer radio?

2000-11-13 Thread John Baumbach

I went with the 8U because it was affordable, does
everything I want, has great quality, looks cool, and
my buddy had one and knew how to program it.

BTW, you can change the frequency by plugging in
different modules available from Futaba, or you can
get the "Spectra Module" from Hitec which gives you
all the frequencies by turning a screw:

http://www.hitecrcd.com/Catalog/Air/Other/spectra_72mhz.html

Note: a few people have reported issues with the
module in the 8U, but the issue means you have to turn
it off and then on again before flying.

You can also get get an aftermarket campac (8 more
model memories) for cheap here:

http://www.users.qwest.net/~slickraft/plus8.htm

IMHO, the 8U is the best value.
