I would also wipe it down with acetone or MEK immediately before painting. I love the smell of volatile solvents in the morning. PS. if the old paint has even a trace of "armor all" or any other siloconized additive, you MUST siloconize the new paint with a special silicone additive or it will fish eye miserably. Re: [RCSE] AOL & HTML
No Way! HTML is ONE of the languages the internet. It is designed to be used with web browsers. You know, those sites that start with "http". Email, which this list is, is (wow, two ises in a row, sounds like Clinton) plain ascii, basically the first 128 characters unless you are sending spam from China. The internet also includes FTP which is not html, java which is not html, some propriatory M$ stuff, PPP, SLIP, Archie, WAIS, and a number of other means of communication. ASCII is the language used for email, it is efficient, concise, well documented, and prefered by all but a few that think they need a page layout language to ask where the next contest is. -- Dick Barker Seattle, WA - The Old Fart Glider Flyer - >HTML is the language of the internet guys... live with it! >Thermals, Eric Farmer RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. It looks like I was wrong about saving the address book when trying to revert to AOL 5.0, I just received this from another list: "I don't like to debate fellow listees but to save someone the loss of their address book, let me be clear. If you upgrade to AOL 6.0 and remove AOL 5.0 and then discover that you want to downgrade you have a BIG problem with the address book. Lew is absolutely correct about everything else which can be moved back to 5.0 as he suggests. However, AOL Tech Support apologized profusely but confirmed that in the upgrade to 6.0 the address book is copied to the AOL server and thereafter is maintained on the AOL server from whence it cannot be downloaded into 5.0. If you have not removed AOL 5.0 you can rebuild from the pre-6.0 address book on your computer but you need to manually copy down all address book changes made in 6.0 and enter them into your 5.0 address book. If you removed 5.0 you are SOL which is not to be confused with LOL. [RCSE] HTML Solutition for AOL ...
Hey guys , no need to get upset about AOL's or anybody's poorly written software . Not when there are plenty of FREE browser based email services out there . I , obviously , use hotmail.com which is ok and works most of the time . There are many others like excite.com , juno.com , etc... Just search for free email and you'll get a bunch of links . Anyway - this is only one of several email accounts I have and I use it for the list exclusively . This way the list activity doesn't affect/mix with my normal correspondence (that would help out the wife frustration problem too). And of course there is no problem with sending text-only emails . I'm only using hotmail because it can be accessed through the latest version of Outlook Express , which also reads my other normal (pop3) accounts . So it's a single piece of software to access most of my accounts . But normally Web-based email is accessed through any web browser - even AOL Check it out , it has made my life a little simpler .. One account for the list , another for ebay , another for friends and family .. Hope that helped someone Later
Re: [RCSE] AOL & HTML
If this list or it's members don't want to support > HTML maybe it's time for some of us to move on. > happy trails, Rob Glover I have yet to see an international list that allows html. Many (most) other countries have internets services that charge by the minute or byte and a list like this could literally cost $5 to $10 per day to download. I am on a sailing list and many of the sailors are checking their mail through pay phones from remote areas, so download time is critical. The AOL thing has really shaken up most of the boating community in the Carribean because AOL has the most services in that area and quite a few people unknowingly upgraded to the larger (clunky) 6.0 and now have to revert back. The general consensus amongst the AOL users on that list is that 6.0 is no improvement and in fact uses more resources and runs slower. RE: [RCSE] Zoom Launches - Was: RE: 3-Position Switch
Bill Thought that one might gain a query or two. It is something that I love watching, but do not have the guts to try myself! Basically You launch to about 45 degrees in a reasonable wind and build up tension, then you turn (with rudder) and dive at the ground building up more tension before turning again (with rudder) to tuck the model under and climb again. The action is like a stunt kite doing a loop. The process can be repeated over and over, building up tension without winding the line in on the winch at all. I expect this is as clear as mud. [RCSE] Zoom Launches - Was: RE: 3-Position Switch
Adam I think that you have (almost) hit the nail on the head. The zoom DOES come from dive speed, but it is the angle of the dive that most flyers get wrong. I learnt a lot watching Nic Wright when he toured Australia a few years ago. He would build up enormous tension on the line (either by a conventional launch or by circle tow) and then would perform a brief shallow dive (1.5 seconds@20 degrees?) to convert the tension to speed and then ping. There are too many flyers in Australia who love to try and wrap the parachute around their tailplanes in ridiculously steep pre-ping dives. It is just not necessary. Oh, I fully realize what you were talking about - I was disagreeing with the statement that you need to dive excessively. What's the point in bleeding off altitude for airspeed? That isn't what a zoom is about. Sure you need a mild dive to perform this, but you don't need a steep one. The added effect from the zoom is gained mainly from tensioning the line...not from dive speed. That's why the wings need to be that strong on zoomable airplanes, the winch is almost pulling directly downwards with up to 200lb of line tension. Dive entry is not mild at all. RE: [RCSE] Which computer radio?
There was an upgrade available for the FF7 in the UK (and, I assume the US) to add 4 additional memories. In order to access the new memories you had to flick a switch (top left?). No...you could not use it to switch memory functions in flight (tried that!). The key difference to look for is the words 'computerised glider system' and the 'G' in the designation - something like TP-FPUAG. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2000 9:42 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [RCSE] Which computer radio?
