We are running behind on entries from previous years, therefore if you
have an interest in participating this year please get your entry in. I am
opening up the contest to those who would like to fly more than one class
also. The new Woody class this year is taking off well and I am encouraged
by the responce. See you on October 7 & 8.

I don't think that 2-meter is in jeopardy, though I would like to make a
few points to reinforce it's importance in the overall soaring world:

1. This hobby needs more youth(s) to continue to grow.

2. Youths (and many new soarers) don't have the experience or the money
to fly big ships.

3. Soaring is and will remain a hobby where competition is part and
parcel of the experience.

4. 2-meter at the NATS allows those new fliers to compete at a national
level in an event that they alone (and not their plane) are the
determining factor.

Ed Wilson achieved something special this year: he mentored a young dude
with a small ship (but big dreams) with the intention of taking him to
the NATS. It's a great goal, and one that we think will keep Lee and
others like him in this hobby. 2-meter at the NATS is the perfect event
to show new fliers what soaring is all about.

Since we already have, and will hopefully continue to have, a 2-meter
competition -- all we need is more Lee's, right? :)

plane @ the site. For those of you who have not been to the MRCC lake site here
is some info. Modesto Reservoir is locaded just past Waterford, CA on HWY 132
You will make a left on Reservoir road, then come to the pay shack. Cost is
about 6 to 8 bucks to enter the park. After that trun left and head toward the
boat launch. you should see the MRCC field on the right just after the turn for
the boat launch. Our local TD contests are quite laidback and fun. They cost 5
buck to enter. Come fly with us! The EasyGlider event will be just after the TD
contest and is free... Also if you have not been to the Easyglider
Thread check it out here. http://bayrc.com/boards/viewtopic.p...der=asc&start=0

[RCSE] JR 9303 setup help

2006-04-03 Thread John D Frugé

Hello, All, I have a JR 9303 with the standard 6
servo Glider setup with the JW 4 flight modes. That being said the landing mode
is on the throtle stick and is always on. I wanted to see if there is a way to
make the first 1/4 stick or so inactive so when moving the rudder I dont have
the flaps move down a bit and no know it or always have to keep checking to see
that the throtle stick is in the up most spot.

Any help / pointers would be great.

[RCSE] Removable Skeg System Help

2006-02-22 Thread John D Frugé

Looking for some setup info on a Zenith Vtail.I
would like to know your CG placement, tow hook placement. Comments on how it
launches. Also some flight mode setup info. Do you cruse around most of
the time in Reflex mode?I know there is some good info on www.f3x.com I am just lookingfor more info
from other flyers to try and find what works best for me.

Also I talked with a fellow Zenith owner (White and
blue V tail) @ the SWC about his Removable Skag system.I guess I need to do
better @ names. If you read this I would love to get some more info on the
way you did that. I hope to do a removable skeg system for both my Zeniths
and my new RES Danny I am about to get. The setup seemed to work quite well.
You have to remove the skeg to remove the nosecone.

I think the best is to use servos that are powerful enough for the
loads and use wire big enough to keep voltage drop to an acceptable
level with maximum current draw on the servos.

What is the maximum current draw of the most popular servos in these planes?

I want to ask what type of stop watch you all use for TD contests. My club
MRCC are looking to upgrade from a standard simple start / stop watch to
something that will do a countdown for the timer so he or she dos not have
to think about anyting just call out the time on the watch. Also of course
it will need to show the total time for the landing judge. The easyer the
better. It was not until the Add em up @ the SWC over the weekend that we
found that we have been doing things the hard way for quite some time.
Guess it comes down to learning something new everyday :)

[RCSE] For Sale or Trade NYX with JR 368's RTF

2006-02-13 Thread John D Frugé

I have a NYX with 6 JR 368's RTF It is is really
good shape. White top with purple, pink stripe and purple bottom.

Pic's http://www.modestorcclub.com/john.htm

I would like to trade for a Zenith V
tail.

If I get no one willing to trade I will sell to
fund or Help fund a Zenith V tail.

I would like to stay away from shipping if
possable. I could bring it to the Fresno Clasic, Visalia Bent Wing.

I will ship it if its the only way. The reason for
getting rid of this NYX is I just love my Zenith and want a back up of the same
type.

Thanks,

keep the main trophy the way it is but just give a small non returning

Re: [RCSE] Western States Triad?

2005-12-02 Thread John D Frugé

Our thoughts when talking about it the other day at
the field were to keep the main trophy the way it is but just give a small non
returning plague to the 2-5 or 2-3 spots up infront of everone @ Visalia.. We
were just kinda thinking that if we went to all 3 contests and ended up say 2nd
or 3rd overall out of that bunch... (maybe only 20 people that hit all 3) it
would be nice to have something to take home. I know that from just the Modesto
RC club we have about 5 members that plan on hitting all 3 events so
thats 5 people just from our little club.

So the general consensus is that I should forget about teaching thermal

I guess I am outta step with instant gratification stuff.

He doesn't want my older Psyko or Esteem, he wants my Artemis... but we'll
see if I can get him into either ...

I still need the Artemis as a backup.

I'll let you know how it goes...

Hi Jeff,

I think Sal at Northeast Sailplanes still sells the Victory at
www.nesail.com, check out www.hilaunch.com for info on the RESolution
(if it's not on Nesail, too).

I've seen both at quite a few contests, and they can be pretty
competitive - certainly a big step up from a Spirt.

Good luck,

2005-07-01 Thread John D Frugé
I got to see some of his flights first hand (Timed for him on some). He was
on fire. It / he inspired me so much I'm now on the waiting list for an 2m
Image. only 362 days to go give or take a few :)

Way to go Bobby!

Seeing the posts about the Insanity we gotta get back to whos flying the
plane. As good as the Insanity seems to be, its still the pilot. Case in
point, last weeks SVSS Sprig Fling. The overall winner was?? Bobby
McGowan. Was he flying a ultra high performance, high A/R, super foiled
bird? Nope, a 2M Image. Doesnt that plane have your basic 7035? He
smoked some pretty good pilots with that little 2M thing!

Re: [RCSE] Res....Again

2005-02-28 Thread John D Frugé
The Modesto CA club has 3 Soprano's flying and I just got a crate in with
#13 and #14 in it. The parts look and fit great. I know the guys that have
there's flying love them. I cant wait to get these going as well.

Soprano has my vote!

I too was going to suggest the Soprano but Mark was quicker with a
response. :)
I got mine airborne only a couple of days before the 2004 Nats and
consequently didn't have much time to get it sorted out. I was still able
to be the top dog in my flight group in three out of the four rounds
flown.

Try a Soprano. typical Ukranian quality and
construction with conventional fuselage layout. Next
order will be here in about 2 weeks. I'm just about
sold out already. Get on the list quickly.

they are all comprable but . I have asked this
question several times and am now ready to order one

one over the other. Wing Loading, strength,
penetrating capabilities etc
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
