Could it possibly be the old loose pins in the back of the tranny trick?
Check out http://www.scalesoaring.com/8ufix.htm to see if this could be the
problem.
Les.

Re: [RCSE] just wondering

2002-05-18 Thread Les and Gypsy Stockley

At a club F3B contest a few months ago in
pretty windy conditions, I had my Scar at altitude, before I could do anything
about it the Scar went nose first vertical and then did a tail slide, I thought
maybe I had been hit with interference but talking to other pilots in the slot,
found that one of them in the same area had his model do an uncommanded roll
before he was able to stop it.
Very interesting I think,
Les.

big plane, like 3.4 m moldie?

This is winning answer to my question below. It was achieved using a DuBro
V tail mixer to ativate the flaperons from the towhook.
Thanks to all who had a guess.

Re: [RCSE] wire for foam cutter

2001-11-22 Thread Les and Gypsy Stockley

Pay a visit to your local airfield,
ask a plane mechanic for a length of aircraft lockwire.  I use the 0.020"
size, stainless steel, you can really crank the tension on it right
up.

wire. 2lb roll  $15.95 From http://www.grizzly.com/index.html
or $17.95 from http://www.mcmaster.com/  or check with
your local welding supply store.  2lbs would probably be enough for

on tidbits of info from the web.  I was looking for ss wire and found none
in small sizes.  I bought some piano wire in .024.  Will this
work?  Thanks.   If my set up works, I'll post pics as it is low
cost, easy to build, and quick to set up/tear down.

Re: [RCSE] auto paints

2001-11-22 Thread Les and Gypsy Stockley

If you do decide to
end up using a product like Imron, invest in a good quaility breathing gear,
preferably a force fed fresh air supply or at the very least a quality
respirator fitted with organic vapour cartridges and change them
regularly.  Imron contains isocyanate, very nasty stuff, cumulative build
up in your body and you can become sensitised to it.

Down here in NZ we have a 2 metre class which
allows the use of two servos only.
A few years ago some guys had a serious go and created a
model with rudder, elevator, ailerons and flaps for launch, all with only two
servos.
How you may be wondering, well I'll see if you can work it
out, send in your answer and I'll tell you in a week or so who gets it
right.
NO answer from NZ accepted!!!
Les.

My two cents - throw out the spoilers.  At that point you might
be able tosay instead of RE the "two servo  class" meaning the only
limitation will bethe two servos.  I wonder how someone would wring
higher performance withjust two servos beyond the expected??

[RCSE] The Scar diet..........

2001-10-25 Thread Les and Gypsy Stockley

Hi all, just put my Tun Scar through a weight
reduction course.  I have been looking at replacing the rudder for some
time and finally got around to it last week, the rudder as built weighs 28 g and the balsa one I built to replace it weighs 6 after
covering with Oracover Light.  ConsequentlyI was able to take another 78
grams out of the nose for a total weight saving of 100 grams, well worth the
nights effort.  Now for the pilot...

Cheers, Les.
