Yup, ejector pins are sold by some vendors as straight wing rods. Just cut the head off a straight (not tapered) pin. They are all pretty much the same industry standard of H-13 hotwork die steel with a core of 41-45 Rc and a nitrided surface. You can even get them from McMaster-Carr if you don't need want to buy them by the dozen (cheaper) form a manufacturer http://www.mcmaster.com/ -- Andrew E. I was wondering about what the use for 5/16 music wire. If for a wing rod, several vendors supply 5/16 case hardened wing rods, and I think ejector pins are of the same tpye.
