[RCSE] Re: Sirius Chargers Option

2005-01-27 Thread mode1

I still have a Sirius charger I used for many years. Sitting idle
since I have been using lipos. My Sirius has been completely
dependable and foolproof. Great charger. Plug it in, wait for
flashing light, done. Everytime. I said goodbye to slow charging and
battery failures when charging with my Sirius. Wish it charged lipos.

2005-01-26 Thread Daryl Perkins
Whatever the Sirius chargers do and how they do it
I'll never understand. Nor do i care to ;-)

All I know is, since I've been using them exclusively,
I haven't lost one single plane to battery failure
(and this is probably the last 8-9 years). Knock on
Gordy's head.

Losing models to battery failure used to be a fairly
common occurrence for me.

Thanks Don and George!

[RCSE] Re: Sirius Chargers Option

2005-01-26 Thread George Joy
Bill,
Yes, but there is an inherent problem with that in our charging
scheme. If the current happens to get changed during the charge cycle, then
the ability for the computer to determine the correct shutdown timing would
become compromised and false peaks would become normal.
NASA determined a long time ago the proper charge currents and they
are incorporated in the charging scheme for the computer we are using.
Stay within the chargers limits and the batteries will perform better
and longer than any other type of charge system.

George,
I strongly prefer the ability to select charging current on a charger.
Have you considered designing a Charger with the capability to "dial-up" the
desired charger current?
