Re: [RCSE] Is this thing on?

2002-08-29 Thread thrmaln

Hey Chip,

Your question is fairly open ended here. I assume you
mean planes only and you already have the radio gear.
Also, where you fly in relation to your local conditions
also make some planes that work better in some locations
poor in others due to local conditions. Also, the best
plane does not make you the best pilot. It all comes
down to experience and lots of practice. To give an
example I have not flown for a full year due to an eye
injury. I just bought what I happen to think is the best
plane for southern california TD contests (addiction &
compulsion) and even though I got 11th place at Visalia
2 years ago with my addiction, I doubt I will finish in
the top 50 due to being out of practice. Unfortunately,
the compulsion is not going to make enough of a
difference since I have not flown in a LONG time.

My advice would be to look around your area and see what
works the best for others in your local conditions.
Unfortunately I can't help you with the F3J but for TD
you would be hard pressed to beat an addiction or
possibly the new compulsion. I have been flying
addictions for 5 or 6 years now and I have tried the
moldies and always seem to come back to my addiction.
Give Fred Sage a call and the money you save on buying a
Bagged TD ship can be attributed to some molded F3J
beast.

another analogy. You could give Jeff Gordon a 1971 VW
Buss and me his Nascar ride and he would still lapp my
ass on any track in the world!

Hope this helps and good luck,

Use the money to subsidize flying everyday instead of working. That will
be the most productive way to become a winner.

Serious, practice will get you further than a new plane. See it all the time.

[RCSE] Is this thing on?

2002-08-29 Thread chipwillis2002

Hmm... sometimes I can post sometimes not

Anyhow...

Greetings to those who have met me and my Omega.

The question is this. If you had 2500$ and wanted to be competitive
in f3j and standard td contests... what airplanes would you buy.

I said airplanes- I know in some cases you cant fully equip two
airplanes with 2.5k.

But- what two would it be. Dont mention an Icon. Ive seen them fly,
been beaten by their pilots etc But this winter, I cant
justify it. Maybe next season, but by then maybe an Icon Killer will
emerge.

Im looking hard at the Tsunami, Stratos, Eraser Extreme and a few
others..

What would be your choice if you wanted to get two planes and why.

PS> I fully intend to use this info to kick everyones butt next
year! So be honest.

LOL

Seriously though. I will be trying to kick everyones butt, but
that probbaly isnt going to happen that much, and often the airplane
is less of an issue than pilot skill

PS. Gordy I know what your answer is. hehe...

We had an incident where lots of .net addresses got bounced around new
years. A note was sent out to most of those subscribers to
resubscribe. As Jon noted, there are plenty of folks who read it via
places like egroups. I know since I usually have several messages every
day that I have to approve because they are from those pilots who get
RCSE that way.
