How did you go about doing this? The way you should do it, is to create folders in the desired new location for each account. You then move the account data, by *first* going into the account properties//files & directories. Go to the Home directory option and browse to the new location for the account. Select the folder you created and then hit OK. TB!, *not you*, will then proceed to move the data to its new location. You can try this with one of your smaller account to see what I mean. If you do it manually, i.e., move the account data yourself, *and then*, change the home directory to reflect the new location, you will lose data, namely the templates. Your template data is overwritten by new ones since TB! didn't have any established ones to move. Sadly there's no way of retrieving the template data unless you did a backup before starting. When I discovered this the hard way, I had created backups. -- .-.-. ( : ) ©Allie C Martin .-.\ ' /.-. List Moderator and fellow end user (_.. Filtering and SPAM
Hi, FWIW, here is what I have done to filter mail. I have not seen a detailed plan for filters anywhere, so I created my own bunch of filters. Hope it it helpful for someone. 1) I created several mail category mail boxes: 2Work 3Companies 5Groups 7Friends & Family 4ever Beneath each I put several sub-folders, most of which I created as I create each new filter. The numbers are for easy instant access to my primary folder. I also changed my account name to 1Jerry, for the same reason. Now to get to my Outbox from any one of my 100 or so folders I press 1o. Now I have specific folders, which I can easily filter messages into. Most of the folders I turn of the 'show unread message on ticker'. 2) I created a set of Incoming Mail filters for the account. a. each valid addressee: move to various boxes One filter for each person (address) I want to keep in a folder by themselves. This is easy to set up when you get mail from them. 1. Press ctrl-shft-F to create a new filter. 2. Check 'override existing filters'. This will put this at the top of the filter list. 3. Click on the icon to the right of 'move to folder'. Do this BEFORE clicking any other button, or you'll created the default named folder. Point to, or create a folder in a logical place. 4. OK! or Edit. I used edit to add further options. E.G. I mark all newsletters (like Amazon or Travelocity) as 'read', so they don't interrupt me at all. b. my specific addresses, trusted: move to various boxes I use may different addresses on several domains, which all get sent through my primary mail provider. Some of these address are ONLY used for specific purposes, and are never used by me in places that could lead to spam, so I can check them before the spam filters. c. mailing lists (several) I would like an easier way of marking certain subjects as 'interesting', and have only those message appear in a mailbox. This is a primitive way of doing that. I have three filters for each mailing list. 1. subjects I am interested in --> interested I have to manually add a new filter set for each topic I am especially interested in. A pain, really. 2. subjects to ignore (x) --> ignore again, I edit manually to add a new set. These message are marked as read. 3. other --> name-of-list This folder has the ticker off, but I don't change the read status. d. AB groups (vendors, support) I have a filter for each address book group. Example, if the address is in group 'vend' (vendors), I place the message in 3Companies. e. IDENT:root@mailroute2 --> Bad account, ident This is the start of SPAM checking. I found a common string in a group of junk mail I have received. The subjects, senders, addresses were all different, BUT there was a commons string starting 'IDENT:root@mailroute2'. I check against kluges, then mark as read, delete from server, and move to a folder in a different account "bad messages". I like having junk mail off my account, for searches, but still want to check it for possible mail from aunt Edna, who I didn't know had my address. All mail I move to bad account gets marked as read. f. names in SPAM AB (group 'ignore') --> Bad account, names A few people who use the same address and/or people I just want to ignore, I add them to the AB (with ctrl-W), SPAM address book, and group 'ignore' (since I don't see how to filter on the name of the address book, I have to do the extra step of a group name.) Advanced: 'address must be in address book', 'sender', group 'ignore' g. filter:@, recipient, No --> Bad account, trash -or- (under Alternate) undisclosed in Recipient. If there is no "@" in the recipient list (meaning it is blank), or it is sent to 'undisclosed', (and it didn't hit one of the above filters), trash it. h. my specific addresses, other Some of my address (Jerry123, JerryBerry) might fall into the wrong hands, so I place the filters AFTER the primary spam filters. I usually send each specific address to a folder. Some I mark a read so I only see it when I look in the folders. i. filter:RE:, subject, Yes --> Inbox Here begins some filters that attempt to determine 'good' mail, and copy it to Inbox (since I see no way of leaving it alone in Inbox). The last filter will take all mail that does not look 'good' j. filter:undeliverable, subject, Yes --> temp returned mail box k. others in AB, fw:|fwd:, subject, No --> inbox this allows anyone in my AB to appear in the inbox UNLESS they are forwarding something to me, which I ignore. l. other to myoldaddress & ",", recipient, No --> unknown sender I have one address that I have had for 10 years. It gets most of my junk mail. This filter checks to see if it is the *only* address on the line (no commas), then retains the message. m. All rec

tbudl... I used to own a miggy. Designating browser for html links
Hello, I upgraded to Netscape 6.2 from 4.78 (6.2 works pretty well, unlike 6.1) because Panda Antivirus doesn't work with the older Netscapes. Now, however, The Bat keeps trying to bring up Netscape 4.78 when I double-click a URL within a Bat email. Doesn't matter that I have now uninstalled Netscape 4.78, re-installed Netscape 6.2, and re-installed The Bat (1.53d)--I would have thought the system defaults would have defaulted to the new Netscape. But no. Is it possible to do this? This all started when Norton Antivirus got too greedy in demanding a substantially higher annual fee to continue to receive virus upgrades from them. Panda is okay but there are some compatibility issues. Thanks, Jack John P. It does change the footer if you haven't changed the body of the message manually. If you did the macros are gone and away and can't the changed automatically. If you haven't changed anything in message body you may have to switch focus from body to header and back to activate changing / applying the appropriate macros. Otherwise, with an already modified body, you can create quick templates for every account, containing the appropriate footer and add in every QT the macro %ISSIGNATURE This way you can easily change the footer after editing the message body by typing in the quick template name and hitting + immediately after that string. Because of the '%ISSIGNATURE' macro it will replace the current signature at the very end of your message after the default signature delimiter '-- \n', or if this is not present add a signature delimiter followed by the textual output of the quick template at the very end of your mail. As far as I can see, the folder templates are stored in a file named account.flx But in that same file your complete folder setup is being kept. So replacing your current account.flx will cause problems, since you have 'generally' kept your folder structure. Best way to keep your current folder structure is to create a new account, close TB and place a restored account.flx in the new account directory. Start TB and you'll see your old folder structure created in your new account. Now you can copy and paste your missing folder templates to your active account. (repeat this as often as you want for every account) As far as filter templates are concerned, they can be found in the account.srx file (together with the filters). Are you sure you've kept *some* folder templates or are you mistaking address book templates for folder templates, since all folder templates are being stored in the same file. -- Groetjes, Roelof -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

Missing Mail Messages
Hi, Can anybody help with this problem. I have the Bat operating on a Windows 98 network with one PC set up as server and another two PCs operating in client mode. We are all sharing a single account with a common mailbox and sub folders underneath and this appeared to be working very well. However, I have recently created 2 new folders on the server PC and imported mail messages into them from MS Outlook Express. The problem is that although both the folders and the messages are visible on the server, only the folders can be seen on the two client pc's ie no messages in them. I have tried re-booting all machines, however to no avail. Does any one have any ideas ??? In the current release, you must use the %SINGLERE macro in any reply template where you want the numbering turned off. -- Thanks for writing, Januk Aggarwal Is it OK to use the AM radio after noon? -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
R-emove attachment from message
Hi, I normally want the attachments to be encoded in the message (no seperate file). But somtimes, f.e. when the attachment is very large, I want to keep it in a seperate attachment directory. So, is it possible to seperate the attachment from the message but keeping the link? -- Best regards, Marc mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

*... PA>> I put yahoo.com, excite.com & hotmail.com in my selective download PA>> filter. Now I almost never get spam. Simple. > sORRY TO TALK LIKE THS BUT HOW DO YOU GET tHE bAT to act like That?. > Whre do i set that up?. Head up to the Menu and select Sorting Office / Filters under the Account menu. Pick Selective download and hit New. From there you can configure stuff you don't want to download. From the advanced tab you can chose to ignore the mail or kill the mail. That way The Bat will delete that stuff from the server and not even bother downloading it. -- PRAEst76 http://www.escapism.co.uk/praest76 -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com
