[TMIC] New Drug LYRICA
Hi Sally, I'm sorry to hear that Lyrica caused weight gain with your husband. I have not had ANY side effects with this drug, and I am now at maximum dose, after gradually working myself up to it. I know a lot of people said neurontin caused weight gain also. I did not have that side effect with neurontin either. I'm thinking it's probably because I am on a chemo drug (Imuran) - they probably balance each other out. (Last week I lost weight, so this week I thought maybe I should add some *vitamins* to my diet: M&M's best vitamins made!) Hope your husband feels better! Take care Linda in Bothell, WA

[TMIC] PREDNISONE/HEALTHY EATING
Sometimes under these circumstances, food is comfort. That's about all Terry had to look forward to in the beginning of this CRAP. So, everyone bought food to him at the hospital during his 2 months or so he was captive. Five years later, he's lost over 1/2, (20lbs) of the weight he'd gained and he's gained about 3/4 of his strength back! Sandy

She said the same thing that my neuro did---that even a very small dose of prednisone can cause weight gain through increased appetite. She also told me that with diligent attention to my diet, that this can be reasonably controlled. As of right now, I've gained 26 pounds in 4 months, but am now at a healthy weight for my frame and height, weighing in at 138. (I'm Five 8) So now I am getting down to the serious business of being extremely careful about what goes into this back hoe of a mouth of mine. My neuro told me that one of my biggest advantages at the time of my first bout with paralysis, was the fact that I was so small. I was able to use my arms to ambulate even when my legs still weren't working. So, no more steaks, chops, roasts, (Ah, but I love a good well done roast.) mounds of mashed potatoes, orKentucky Fried Chicken. (How I will ever manage to stay away from that is beyond me.) For a short period of time, I had been eating very carefully. Oatmeal in the morning, a huge salad for lunch (With a bottle of dressing or balsamic vinegar. ~~~blush~~~) and a reasonable dinner, but I can see where my weekend binges---going out to eat with my daughters---did me in. I would always think to myself: *It's the weeken! d. How much damage can I do to my diet just eating big on two days?* and then, I would roar through the buffet like a buzz saw. Those days are over, and I'm going to prove to myself that I still have the old self control. The good Lord knows that I'll never be svelte again, but at least I can keep myself from going completely berserk in the food department. Please cheer me on guys..I'm out growing my clothes again. RE: [TMIC] the bathroom blues..
SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TOO LATE FOR THE JUICE. YOU MIGHT ALREADY HAVE AN INFECTION AND ONLY ANTIBIOTICS CAN FIX THAT. CRANBERRY OR ANY OTHER NON Rx IS FOR PREVENTATIVE, ONLY, OR SO I HAVE BEEN ADVISED. ALSO, YOU MIGHT BE HAVING BLADDER SPASMS CAUSED BY THE INFECTION. Re: [TMIC] New Drug LYRICA
I SAW DR KERR LAST WEEK AND HE GAVE ME A PRESCRIPTION FOR LYRICA. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ONLY BEEN TAKING IT FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS AND I TRULY SEE A DIFFERENCE. I HAVE LESS TINGLING AND BANDING AND KEEP IN MIND IT WILL TAKE A COUPLE MORE WEEKS UNTIL I BUILD UP TO MY NORMAL DOSE (4 PILLS). I WILL KEEP THE GROUP INFORMED BUT SO FAR SO GOOD! I'm going to mention this to my neuro. Grace
