That's very kind of you Jan :)), I just don't often to have something
constructive to say these days. I think too maybe I'm a bit too unconventional
in my approach to help many of the new people. Of course, I didn't really need
to tell you that, did I? :))

Kathy...do you take anything else other than the Lyrica...?
Such as over-the-counter meds of any kind...?
I'm just wondering if maybe the Lyrica could be reacting
with something else you are taking.

Apparently, since many of us have experienced this and
are on different meds, it must have something to do with
our compromised central nervous system.
We must be on overdrive or something.

[TMIC] Update on Mike

2009-09-14 Thread Jan Hargrove

Jill,

So glad that Mike's treatment has begun!! Also super that it went
smoothly...so now you know what's going on and next week you'll get the
second part under your belt.  I'm not making light of what Mike has to face,
but in my opinion the unknown is most often more frightning than the reality!!
Please know that our thoughts and prayers continue!!
Hugs, janh

Hi Everyone,

We finally got Mike’s schedule for radiation and chemo.  Mike had his fist
radiation treatment Thursday.  The anticipation of the unknown was the most
stressful part of the treatment, but the 20 minute session went relatively
smooth.  Eight consecutive weeks have been scheduled thus far and will overlap
with chemo.  Next Tuesday the 15th starts his first chemo treatment.  The first
appointment is going to last six hours starting at 9am….the next two
consecutive days are scheduled at 2pm and last 2 to 3 hours.  The crib board
will be on hand for anyone that wants to take him on….he would love the
company!!!.

Both Mike and I are very please with the Oncology facility on 13th street .
The doctors and support staff have been very accommodating and helpful in every
possible way.  We both know that the next few weeks are going to be very rough,
but with the support of family, friends and a whole lot of prayers, Mike is
going to gain strength through YOU……Keep the prayers going.  I’ll keep you
posted, HUGS, Jill and Mike

I've experienced the vibrating as well when I have too much Lyrica.? In fact, I
can't even talk right as my bottom lip shakes and my tongue doesn't work
right.? It's almost like drinking too much caffien.? Very weird feeling.?
Perhaps its the combo of Lyrica and caffien.? Only time and patience clears it
up.

Who here on the list is from what is classified as the N.E. Ohio area.
I have the 2007-2008 TMA directory and I'm sure that there have been some
changes or updates.
I'm looking at trying to start a NE Ohio TMA support group. I know there is
an Ohio support group but I believe the closest area is Columbus. Honestly,
that is a bit too far for me to drive for support meeting get togethers.
I know Gunny is on here and I know about Ella in Elyriacan anyone help
me out..?
I think we could benefit from something like thisespecially in light of
the recent posting from Gilly...where she said that she just recently met
another TM'r. How many others are out there that would like to meet another
TM'r and you might have someone in your "back yard" so to speak that you
don't know about.

Thanks,
Kevin

HI WIM. I DON'T TAKE JUST OMEGA 3, BUT I TAKE FLAX SEED OIL CAPSULES THAT
HAS OMEGA 3 IN IT. EVERYONES BODY WORKS DIFFERENTLY, SO THE SAME IS NOT
GOOD FOR EVERYONE. ALSO, I TAKE ONE ACIDOLPHILUS CAPSULE EACH DAY AND IT
WORKS TO PREVENT DIARRHEA AND HELPS TO STAY REGULAR. IT WORKS BOTH WAYS.
I USED TO HAVE TO TAKE A STOOL SOFTENER EVERY FEW DAYS, BUT SINCE I ADDED
THE ACIDOLPHILUS I HAVEN'T HAD TO TAKE THEM.

The day I started to take Omega3 capsules of 1000mg my bowl is more compact,
darker en the use of toilet paper went down a lot. Almost clean after the
bowl. Normaly to keep the bowl smooth going I use lactulose. that
combination worked for me the best.

I have had TM for nearly 7 years now, and as embarrassing as it is to admit,
my bowels and bladder are not getting better, in fact at times they are
worse.I take Metamucil faithfully every morning and for some time that
helped my bowels, but lately it is notI feel the urge and can not hold
it in and have an accidentany suggestions or any good thoughts as what
to do? I don't know whether to take the metamucil 2 times a day or add
something else. I am on meds for my bladder and so far so good there. I am
scheduled to see our medical doctor next week, but thought maybe someone
might have some ideas to help me till then.

Thanks.Linda in Ohio

Laurie from Baltimore.??? FYI, I've found that some of the support group
data is "dated" or incorrect.? You might have better luck contacting the
National Org if you have a problem.?

RE: [TMIC] weird sensations

2009-09-14 Thread Patricia Cooley
Kathy - It might take several days or longer for the Lyrica to get out of
your body, since you have been taking it for awhile. I know I was taking a
supplement I found on the internet for people with TM and it did a number on
my liver. My doctor agreed I should stop and it may take several months for
my body to rid itself of it. Once I stopped taking it, my liver finally
went back to normal but it took awhile.

Kathleen ~

I had the same reaction when I was taking Topamax.

Felt like I was going to vibrate right off my bed and out the

window. :-) I would just stay in bed until it passed.

When I stopped taking the Topamax the vibrating stopped

also.

Gunny is probably right...it's probably your Lyrica.

I would decrease my dosage and see what happens.

I had the same reaction when I was on Lyrica. It may be that your body isn't
used to the increase, or, it may be that your body has become accustomed to the
dosage, and needs more. Want me to ask Doug?

[TMIC] weird sensations

2009-09-14 Thread LadyOwl
Hi all..
Haven't written in much but as of yesterday I have been very scared and nervous
because of a weird sensation I have been getting.. I was on Face Book (my usual
haunt) between 2 and 3 pm when my body began to vibrate. I was shaking from
head to toe. Not a big shake but a very small one that even my husband could
see from a few feet away. It felt almost like I had too much caffeine or
something. I could hardly get out of my chair. My legs felt very heavy and I
had this vibration going up and down them. Even my hands, arms and trunk had
it. I made it to the couch with hubby right by my side because I was not able
to control my legs as much as I usually am. They felt so heavy and thick like I
was walking through water waist high and someone was giving me electrical
shocks. I was hoping after walking a little bit the feeling would subside but
it didn't. I went on the deck for a smoke ( okay I know I should not smoke but
it is my only vice besides Face Book ) and had to step over the patio door
bottom (can't think of the proper name right now) and had a very hard time
lifting my feet over it and it is only a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch high. After about
another 15 minutes we finally decided I should go lay down in bed. I stayed
there till 7 pm until the vibrating settled down enough that I felt save enough
and strong enough to walk to the living room. I kept getting this vibrating
feeling come back strong for about 30 to 40 minutes then weaken off slowly the
rest of the evening and now it seems to be starting up again today. Hubby is
laid off right now and we have no health so no getting to a doctor for me. I am
wondering if any of you have had this feeling and what you did about it? I am
on 2 lyrica a day and my medication has not changed in well over a year (except
when I had to take more Lyrica earlier this year). I am really hoping this
feeling just resolves itself but am very interested if any of have had this
feeling.
Thanks
Kathleen Moorhead Blaschko (as I am known on Face Book)

We are always open to getting together with folks from other states as
well. In fact
the first time I ever met with anyone with TM was back in 2001 in
Youngstown, Ohio
with some of the OHIO group. The borders of a state don't dictate what
TM'ers we
can "hang" with. We'd love to get together with anyone! :-)
