Knowing that each of us is not alone is worth everything. I don't have much
faith that our afflictions will change, but with taking newer and better drugs
and exercising our
bodies as much as we can, I feel at least we are doing the best we can. We
need to stick together and help give out any drug information that we find
works - even
home remedies - if they work. I am not in a good place right now - body is
relapsing and getting weaker, so maybe I am grasping at whatever is out there.

John,

    Welcome
to the club of “pharmaceutical non-responders.”

    I
take 12-16 50mg doses of Tramadol and 6-8 hydrocodone daily, and I might as
well be taking either aspirin or sugar pills. And the only thing that helps me
sleep at all (albeit only 2-3 hours/night) are 6-8 Tylenol PM’s each
night.

    And
yes, I am aware I am probably damaging my liver. I have tried taking just the
sleep aid diphenhydramine HCl 25mg in the same number. It just does not work
for me.

    Going
to clinic in the morning. I can no longer walk at all without my cane, and even
then I am very unsteady. I cannot close my hands in order to grasp things. And
my lips and other parts of my face have numbness. Of course I really expect my
PCP to say “H, well, I just don’t know. Let’s run a
lot of unnecessary tests that won’t prove a darn thing but at least it
makes me feel like I’m doing something.” Of course, at the only
clinic we have in town all you can see is a nurse practitioner, not a
physician. For a doctor you have to travel 2-3.5 hours. Nothing against NP’s;
but since most doctors don’t know anything about TM, I find NP’s
and PA’s even less likely to have any positive solutions.

    OK,
nuf ranting for one day.

makeup or the pain itself makes the difference for me. i take this stuff 4
times a day and as far as feeling giddy from drugs its like i am not taking
anything, but I can function when i otherwise could not.

and I'll buy some muscle rub.

I for one can't blame my lack of sleep on TM. I had Insomnia for 14 years now.
I take sleeping pills everynight or else I get just around 15 to 20 minutes
sleep, no more. I use a drug called Doxylamine Succinate 50 mg for my sleeping
problems (it's highly restricted here in Brasil, but my doctors get them for me
and bring them to my house). It doesn't provide any sort of pain relief
ofcourse, but with my neurontin and tandrilax it works well to keep me out for
the night. The burning legs situation is different for everyone I'm sure, but I
use bengay ultra or A535 for that. Give those a try, they really aren't too bad.

Jeron

Hi Craig, try the link below to go to the TMA site for the laser cartridges.
   http://recycle.myelitis.org/
It explains all you need to know to recycle and benifit the TMA.

[TMIC] Turning Change into Money

2010-08-11 Thread Akua
Last weekend I worked on turning change into money. It is irksome
that people do not treat change as money. I had tried to convince my
aide, who had gotten static from the big grocery store's cashiers,
that it was ridiculous to duck her head and be apologetic about
presenting REAL Money.

Was she apologetic when presenting other clients' food stamps? No she
said because

it was a plastic card that is slid through.

Well, i countered, in a time of unemployment and uncertainty, she was
not to take any guff
for giving them hard cash. If they had a problem, have them call me.
This is still legal tender in the U.S.

Dear Gerry, your wondrous plastic holders made it more palatable
for her to present the change.
Though (sigh) despite the fact that i wrote down how much each roll
held and how much it added up to, i still spent an inordinate amount
of time explaining and reexplaining. 35 x 5= 1.75 and

10 of them is $17.50. but progress was made!

Thank you so much Gerry as thus far I've bundled up about $100
worth of change --- nearly two
week's groceries, which has eased my economic constriction a bit. I
treated myself to organic cocoa, a quart of goat's milk and a
container of hummus. These little plastic things are
wonderful!!!

Thank you for hearing my cry of frustration and need and answering
it. Bless you!

Akua

RE: [TMIC] arghhh!!!!!!!

2010-08-11 Thread j ra

Regards,
Jeron

2010-08-11 Thread Gerry Surette

been there ; still there although taking 300 mg of quinne-odan helps somewhat.
i wake up with my toes curled upwards. the pain is awesome. I then rub a535 on
my feet and the pain subsides and my toes become normal. I am usually up for an
hour or so I can get into bed. that is repeated about 4 or 5 times during the
night haven't had a full 6 to 8 hours sleep straight about 6 years. p.s you
should see my collection of books I have.

Todd, I have my info on an Excel spreadsheet. I then did a sort on med column
then dr. column which then put all the med names in alpha order by the doctor.
Then each dr. can see at a glance who is prescribing what.

Thanks Candy,
This is a wonderful ideal, since I do have more than one doctor.
You just had to ADD another column to my medication list. LOL
Thanks for the info.

Morning, Dinner & Night), Type of Med.

I believe this will cover everthing. lol

Patti, you may also want to make a sheet on all the meds you are on. Also, the
vitamins and supplements that you may be taking.

I keep an Excel spreadsheet so that I can change dosages and add or delete meds
as needed. I also list the dates of start/end, plus the Dr. info.

This is much easier as I have found that on every visit, the questionaire asks
for "current" meds. This way, I print the list before the visit and just say
"See attached". Much Much easier!

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS INFO. SINCE I MOVED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I WILL NEED TO
CONNECT WITH A NEW PCP, NEUROLOGIST, AND UROLOGIST VERY SOON. SINCE THIS IS A
SMALL TOWN, I WAS AFRAID THEY WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF TM. I PRINTED IT OFF AND
WILL BE SURE TO TAKE WITH ME AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT.

THANKS AGAIN.

Many of you have probably already read this Fact Sheet. I find it helpful to
give any physician or PA or NP that is my primary care provider since 90% of
them have no idea what TM is, and it seems many don’t want to take the time to
find out about it as well. What is even more aggravating is that my new
neurologist (the only one within three hours travel) has no experience with it
either. So she’ll get a copy as well.

Hey John, Randy,

I’ve been there too.  Besides Percodan and Baclofen, I also use a good healthy
dose of Magnesium Citrate.  About 400 – 500 mgs – it is a natural muscle
relaxant.  And it helps with the sleep issue.

Gotta love TM.  Gotta.  NOT!
