[TMIC] OT - poem "Anyway" - unknown author

2010-12-27 Thread Bernie

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
*Forgive them anyway.*
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
*Be kind anyway.*
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends, and some
genuine enemies.

*Succeed anyway.*
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
*Be honest and sincere anyway.*
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
*Create anyway.*
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
*Be happy anyway.*
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
*Do good anyway.*
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
*Give your best anyway.*
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

please convey my wishes for her swift and thorough healing.

Akua

Cindy fractured her femur two weeks ago while transferring. She had
an immediate surgery to place a rod. Last week, the wound became
infected and another surgery was performed. She is in St. Jude
Hospital in Fullerton, CA. She is totally immobile to give the best
chance of healing, as well as on IV antibiotics. Am sure she would
enjoy hearing from friends. Will keep the list updated as I get
more information. Thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Another screwing we got , and it's driven the price of used cars up!

Clunker Math:

Think of it this way: A clunker that travels 12,000 miles a year at 15
mpg uses 800 gallons of gas a year.

A vehicle that travels 12,000 miles a year at 25 mpg uses 480 gallons a
year.

So, the average Cash for Clunkers transaction reduced US gasoline
consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles so that's 224 million gallons saved per year.
That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels is about 5 hours worth of US consumption. More
importantly, 5 million barrels of oil

at $70 (could be approaching $90/barrel shortly) per barrel costs about
$350 million dollars So, the government paid $3 billion of our tax dollars to
save $350 million.

We spent $8.57 for every dollar we saved.

I'm pretty sure they will do a great job with our health care, though.

orphans. For me, it was 25 years ago but seems like yesterday.
