RE: [TMIC] OT ?
Baclofen helps for spasm, when I first started and I heard more of the group talking about it, you can have trouble with short memory, but that slowly improves. Nothing of that you can find back in the discription closed in. What also a caused spasm is a full bowl, notice after relieving that it is better. Full bladder makes it also worse. Keep the legs warm (blacket) if you sit stil all the time and afford draft. Nice in spring to let the wind through your house, but for people who does not move a lot, the muscles get cold and spasm will follow then, specially when the warm up again. Thats the reason when spasm comes after a while in bed or with cold legs crowl up to the partner. Wim From: em...@telephonelady.com To: tmic-list@eskimo.com Subject: RE: [TMIC] OT ? Suggestion can have some effect for a short time, the biggest effect will be the losing of $4000. There is no cure for TM, some meds will help with the side-effect. These meds are proven and you can find info all over on the internet. My opinion, don't give your money away, hold it back for a holliday. What I could find on the internet, that it is special ionized water, used for fine machinery. In the comments prices are spoken of betrween $19.99 and $1000. What the amount is, I don't know. Maybe you have filled a swimming pool for $4000. On health sides, there is only an article of the need to clean your system by drinking that water, the most expencife bottle there is $19.99. Sorry for this lost in the family. We also lost a child very young, what helped me a lot is knowing that his soul is still present in the family. From Derek Ogilvie I learned that it was not just in my mind, his soul is realy there. I can't hear him, not see him but I feel he is there. You can talk to him and sometimes I hear a voice in my mind with a simple answer. Lately, now both my parents are gone, I noticed the present of my mother. My daughter had a strange expirence that she was confert in the night by my father. Non of my family is spiritual. We are just a normal Dutch family with both feet on the ground. It happend to us. We learned from eachother expirence after a while, from the shows of Derek Ogilvie we learned that we were not the only one and you don't need a six sence to communicate with them, just do. He will be around as long they live. To the family, I looked at it as it put a hole in your living ground with sharp edges. The longer you live, the larger your living ground will be. The hole stays the same, only the sharp edges dissapear later on slowly. The lost never dissapear. It happened to us by oue second child, a son. After him we had two other children. They were no replaments, just a younger brother and sister. Our disseast kid held always his place in the family also with his brothers and sister. [TMIC] healthcare
Congratulations with your new healthcare system. It is almost a copy of the Dutch system. Our minister of heathcare had been a few times in America and the White House to excplain the benefids of the system. At the end it will makes it all cheaper for customer, gouverment and insuerance companies. It provides healthcare for everyone. For those who had not healthcare and get an accident, taxpayers had to pay for it. Also people because of not having healthcare waited much too long to see a doctor, at the end ended in a hospital with much higher costs, wich came at the shoulders of the taxpayers. Here in Holland, because the insuerance companies demand you take the cheapest possible medications, the price of these is now so much lower, that Gemans and Belges come to Holland for the free medications, only Spain and Portugal are cheaper. RE: [TMIC] Death
The fact that I had TM made me see the future in an other way. I always step on two thougths. One , you will getting old, the other, I hope that I am not getting old, because this way I need more and more help, can't do less and less on my own. Before I can't do anything on my own I hope I leave this planet. The first said to me, you have to hold on as long as possible for your wife, kids and grandkids. Personal, I don't have a problem if I not waking up the next morning. I did read a book about people who had a nearly death expiriment. Some during a operation, some after an accident. They are all alike and conferm what my belive is based what the bible said. The book is written by a hart surgent, who spook with his patients after they were dead for a few moments. They speak about a warm peacefull feeling, feel the love in there harts. Some see there own operation, some drift away to a warm peacefull light, meeting relatifs who died before. the most beautifull story is about a kid nearly dead by drowning, who mets a girl, wich seemes to be her sister Liane, she did not know she had one. The kid got answers on all het questions, the light she saw, is that God. No , het sister answered, it is just his breath. The white persons she saw, are those angels? No, other souls who are visible for you now, ones you are back you can't see them, but they are also around you, I am also around you now and then. After she was brought back to life she spook with her parents who admid she had a sister two years before her birth, she died after an illness. And her name was indeed Liane. Because the writer has also a medical background, he explains a lot of matters. Fact is that non believers are starting to go to church, now and then, a lot quit there job and start working in heathcare or socialcare. Believers who go the church on regular base, are going less to church but are more active on social matters. The book explains that every soul has an eternal life. The drug is not just an antibiotic, like so many assume it is -- it's a neuraminidase inhibitor that blocks viral enzymes that can assist the flu virus in infecting the respiratory tract. In the U.S., the FDA has acknowledged that there have been as many as 1,800 reports of kids experiencing abnormal behavior when they're given Tamiful. In Japan, they've actually banned the use of Tamiflu by kids. But because the UK is in such a cold panic over swine flu, they're handing out Tamiflu like candy. Believe it or not, there's even a telephone hotline and website where people can order a prescription without having to consult a doctor. So far, as many as 150,000 people have been prescribed the drug in this manner. No wonder so many kids are having so many side effects. At the first sign of a runny nose or a headache, their parents are pumping them full of Tamiflu, thanks to Dr. Web. All of these risks in order to reduce the flu symptoms by less than two days. That's right: according to the makers of Tamiflu, clinical tests have shown that the drug only has the ability to reduce the duration of symptoms by about 36 hours. It just doesn't add up. Pop goes the antioxidants If you're looking for an antioxidant boost, you might want to head to the movies. After all, this is where you'd be likely to eat lots of popcorn, which, according to a new study, has a hefty dose of antioxidants. Who knew you could battle cancer while taking in a matinee? Researchers at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania examined whole-grain snacks and cereals (not the sugary death bombs that I'm always warning you about) and found them to be just as rich in polyphenols as they are in fiber. Originally, it was thought that the high fiber content in these foods was what made them such effective weapons against cancer and heart disease. Turns out it's really a double-whammy of fiber and polyphenols. Raisin bran packed the biggest antioxidant punch, weighing in at a whopping 524 milligrams of antioxidants per serving. The surprise is that the antioxidant content is found in the grains that these foods are made from. Researchers found that popcorn is the king of antioxidant content when it comes to snack foods, so munch on... just go easy on that movie-theater liquid they call "butter." RE: [TMIC] for constipation
Use Lactulose already 11 years and it does the job, makes you gassy but because it speeds up the natural process you will notice, it does not smell. Not the gas and the bowl. Start on 15 ml at the last meal, in 2 hours you will expirence what it will do. I use 50ml a day, but that is because I use fishoil capsules, wich makes the bowl harder. They are sold here in bottles of 1 liter for 14 euro's. But my insurance pays it, so thats not my worry. Only when you open a deeper conversation with a person, not related to TM , press the reply button and not reply all. most of us expect to pick out some information, or simular stories wich helps them to deal with TM. RE: [TMIC] Blured vision
I got my blured vision in the time the first signs were there month for TM. Only I did not know what was happening to me. Around a few month before. Meds did not make the difference. It got worse after the TM. I only take Baclofen, no pain meds. The most logical explenation for the eye-site problem was the age, around 43. But just a year before my eyes were checked by the medical serveces of my company. This discussion has come by every few years, look into the archives and you will see, that what we has found out. Blured vion is TM related, and medication has very little to do with that. Some meds will make a little difference, the mail course is TM. Also the age. Most of us are in the 40's or older. Yes guys, you are getting old. So it is a difficult discussion with the doctors, they simply keep it on the age, while we know, compairing this problem with eachother that it is also TM related. RE: [TMIC] Sex
It is good now and then to pick up this subject again. All growen up people and we have all to deal with it. Nobody is an exeption in that, to talk about it is just like subject like 'going to the toilet'. Nobody seen you doing it, but verery body knows and understands it happens. My TM is between t6 - t10. You can say threre is no sex at all. Tm struck me at the age of 43, lucky we had 3 kids already. From that period on ( 6 month before) sex became more and more a problem and from the day of TM there was none. Because of the spasme I had du the temp differences, nice laying against to each other was also not possible, after a minut my legs started to spasm and I was kicking her. After a while also the lust was gone. Sometimes I forsed my self to concentrate on it, but it ended with thinking on shopping lists and bills I had to pay. Lucky for me, my wife had seen that the love was still the same, but only the sex part was gone, we had both our tears about that. Now 12 years later we are still married, show our love in many ways to each other ( don't forget that part). Kids are all out of the house and we can do what we like, within all restricktions of the TM. The not understanding part of the outside world hits us harder as what we made out of it. Wim from Holland. From: bgunny7...@aol.com Date: Thu, 25 Jun 2009 10:02:40 -0400 To: Tmic-list@eskimo.com Subject: [TMIC] Sex Some Interesting points have been brought up in this discussion, so I'm gonna chime in. Understand, I'm only speaking for myself, but there may be some points to ponder here. Ok, when I first got married again, and she came to Ohio, things went well the first night we were together, but, after I got to see her demeanor and attitude, things went quickly down the tubes. It didn't take long for her to tell me she hated me, and wished I was dead. I suppose part of that was because I forced her to go to work. In any case, with me, not all men, physical attraction was the main purpose to get involved. One needs to take time to find out what kind of person lives inside the one you want to tie up with, and, is that the same person that's projected to the world, or are they different? Are they one person at home, and another to the outside world. If so, then that's a phoney. Since this wonderful probelm of TM has so graciously decided to rule my life, I've begun to see that looks don't mean a helluva lot. Oh, not the physicality doesn't matter, but it shouldn't be uppermost. In your youth, maybe, but as you age, you take on a different outlook. I know for myself, attitude plays a big role. If your a weasel of a person, nothings gonna happen, no matter how hard I try, or what pill I take. If, and if, I feel the desire, and your receptive, possibly. Also, age plays a role in this. I find the oder I get, the less desire I have. As far as feelings go, meaning sensation, if my partner has diminished sensation, I'll do what it takes to try and get some back. It's like, if you don't use it, you lose it syndrome. Maybe that'll work, maybe it wont, but, if you have feelings for you partner, you'll at least try. Men have a way of thinking, well, I can't feel anything or if you can't feel anything, what's the use. Oh yeah, what about at least giving it a shot. Your mind may come into play here in that, you remember what it was like, maybe it'll be that way again. But, if you don't try. you'll never know. One thing I've found out through my trek in life is, men need to know they're needed, and women need to know they're loved. If those two needs are met, the rest should fall into place. If you love each other, then damnit, show it. It's never too late to experiment. Take those old tapes that are playing in your mind, instilled by parents who say, certain sexual techniques if you will, are taboo, and throw em in the shit can. There's nothing taboo about loving someone, and showing them that you do. I gotta do more thinking on this matter, but these are the thoughts that have been running through my mind since this subject came up. RE: [TMIC]
You must slowly build up the level of Baclofen. Maybe after a time on 10mg a day you can go higher. The body has to coopthe that level and it takes some time. You can't say in a few weeks it is everything or nothinng. Just be patient. A pump if fot those on a high level when the pills are not enough anymore. Don't go to fast for that, there is also a netive site on a pump. Wim Subject: RE: [TMIC]Date: Wed, 3 Sep 2008 09:18:56 -0400From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; tmic-list@eskimo.com Hi Wim – I think you are right about Baclofen – I think it is doing a number on me. I am very weak now – it’s very hard to get up from sitting & my lower back is in pain. It’s even difficult to sit up straight. I don’ think it’s from exercise although I am taking a break from it now fof the most part. I spoke to my neuro yesterday & she said I could go from 20mg/day to 10mg. She also said it should get better over time (?). She also said the pump will help because it injects a tiny amount into my spine only, not a larger amount into my system like the pills Barney From: wim from holland [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2008 8:57 AMTo: Butcher, Bernard G (NY80); tmic-list-at-eskimo.comSubject: RE: [TMIC] I am on 60mg a day now. I also swim a lot. My PT explained to me that because of the weightless in the water , you have a better bloodstream in the leggs. You can exercise in the water without using the muscles power. We want to exercise in the hope we will feel better...but in the case of TM this is not true. I have gone from going to the gym 4 times a week for a couple hours each time to simply swimming 3 times a week for 45 minutes. I am getting some good cardio and I am not letting my muscles atrophy. Swimming was recommended to me by Dr. Kerr and since going on this regiment I feel better and less fatigued. RE: [TMIC] can you answer?
The TM it self is temporarely. It is the damage what is done to us that is different. What your husband has now, is caused by a TM, it is the outcome of a few years hard working to try the damage keep as small as possible. For only a third of the TMers it is succesfull, an other third keep a few small matters, as cold feet and so on. The group here are the most of the third which has large damages of the TM, most of the others are not in this group anymore or has never been here. For those it was just a temporarely nightmare. I needed a little something to eat afterwards and plenty to swallow it down. We have experimented with several different brands of mixes, but yesterday tried a recipe from one of my cookbooks. Carol I too hatet the steroids every time, but looking back it kept me able to walk a little with canes, every time just before I was having trouble to do the most simple matters on my feet (toilet, bathing and dressing) . Still also after 11 years I go back this summer for a short treatment. Everytime after I felt sick for a few weeks, but it was worse it. The last time was more than three years ago. Every time now the benefits is longer and the total picture gives a study image. It also gives me a better state of mind, I can here now what my wife and gids are going to say, after the treatment. Hi all, I know some of you do not believe in going the steroid route, but when that's what your neurologist recommends and you are "getting worse", what is one suppose to do? Anyway, I will be receiving out-patient solumedrol next week, Mon-Fri. I hate steroids because they not only make my blood sugar out of control, they also make me crazy. I remember 2 years ago when I had this treatment, by day 3 all I did was cry. I was never so glad to get something out of my system as these steroids. My local neuro says either I am having a TM flair-up or I have MS and it just has not shown itself yet. Last week, I had a MRI of my brain and thoracic spine, with and without contrast and there was no change from 2 years ago, which is great news, but then WHY is my good leg getting worse It feels like it is shot full of Novocain from the knee down. When I met with Dr. Kerr 2 years ago, he said I definitely do not have MS and didn't think I would have any flair ups of TM. I am in a state of confusion. If I have MS like my local neuro thinks, don't you think it would be evident in my new MRI's? Wish me luck. RE: [TMIC] QUESTION
The TM made that some tissue around the spine is damaged. This damaged tissue is seen by the body as wrong element. The immune system attacs this tissue. The fact that some parts are not working or bad working is proof that the immune system is working. Thats why some people get treatments to bring the immune system to zero, in the hope that when it recoveres, the body is back to normal. At the end, I never heard proof it worked, sometimes for a short period. Fact is when I have a UTI, I have erections , while being heathy, forget it. What ever I tried. Also when I go for a pee, I can empty my bladder complete, normal I have to caterise. So when the immune system let me down at some points, parts will work. Gerry Sorry to here that you have such a hard time. From expirience I had the same problems with the shaking in bed. I noticed when on the evening you keep your legs warmer ( mine are always cold) even when they feels warm enough, the muscle spams in bed are much lesser. Cuddle up to your wife, because of the big difference in tempeture can also make it worse. We can only do that from half spring, untill half autum. I wrap a blanket around my legs in the evening to keep them warm. Look out for draft, that cools down the most in house. The fact that 56 million people has no medicalcare at all, place the US on a place in the top 100, around 37. [TMIC] morning cramps
group since the summer i have no cramps in my legs anymore. How come? Sometimes when I took a painkiller or alcohol, the next day in the morning it went a little better as normal. I figgered out, could be that the blood is thinner a little and that could be the reason. because of alcohol problems in the past and not want to take painkillers every day, I read that is was also a side effect of fish-oil capsules. Used them, 1000mg a day for two month. I did not work. After stopping I noticed that my morning leg cramps came back. When the cramps slowly got away, I did not think about it. But when they came back after I while I connect it with the fish-oil. And indeed, after taking them in a few days it was gone. No cramps anymore. But One WARNING! It makes your bowl a lot harder. So I had to double the dose of my Lactulose. It worked. It seems to be also good for the hart and a lot of other matters. RE: [TMIC] Sicko
In Holland, there is also the waiting problem. But there is always a way out here. We always can go to Belgium or Germany who do not have these problems. That is not a problem wich lies in the medical care, but a gouverment who does not do the right things. Like in France and England. There is a hope discussion about it. Holland is now lead by right wing parties. Hope in the next elections the socialists have the majority, then it will get better, like it was ten years ago. Here the right wing only looks at the money, while the left wing looks for the care and the people. All the stories told in your country about socialism is not the way we see it. It is more how christianity should be in practic. The strong looks after the week. They do not hate rich people, they hate poverty in a rich world. I loved him and will share about him if you wish me to? How long did you know him? If you don't mind my asking and how did you meet? I assume on line... It has been like I got to know one man, fell in love and then he died and now I am finding out about how much I didn't know about him... It has been a very rough road. I was married before for 26 years... I expected to live a long happy life with Tom. If I sound lost I am... so sorry but I sort of am a bit lost... This is just so hard. I do want to thank you for writing me back and am looking forward to writing more in the future. Tom was survived by three children. A daughter in college who will graduate in April, a 16 year old son and 11 year old daughter. They all live with their grandparents now. He was also survived by a sister and two brothers. He was strong in Masons and loved many people. Cheer up so that vereyone around you see a chearfull Grace, wich you are on the inside. See, the inside Grace is still the same, you are still the same person. I've also lately discovered just the hint of beginning sideburns. I'm so sad. Before TM/Devic's I was considered to be a middle aged fox, but nowOH MY! Grace :-( _ Nieuw op MSN Messenger 7.5: Dynamische achtergronden http://www1.imagine-msn.com/Messenger/Audio.aspx
Re: [TMIC] sequel(TMIC)
you wrote: I asked my new neuro if I should be checked for MS (TMer since 2001)this year and he said I was too old (I'm 63) to get MS. He also said there was no need for me to come for annual checkups! Is that true? He was a jerk and I'm looking for a new doctor. Peachy in TN In my knowledge is indeed very rare to develop MS when you are at older age. When it will happen, the devopment because the age is probenly very slow. It always will be the question, is it hardening the tissue caused by TM, or is it MS. In your first chech-up in 2001 is also looked into this matter. TM can grow out to a MS, but normaly this will happen in the first 5 years, after that you can speak of a study TM with no large ups and downs anymore. TM can always stays ligth progressive.
