[TMIC] OT: Good News
TM has cut off nearly all my artmaking-- I cannot pour molten glass from a wheelchair, nor sculpt with big sheets of paper as I once did, and as it ravaged my body, it ravaged my finances and so the tools I could use-- my kilns, sanders, saws, and torches are inaccessible until/unless I win the lottery and build a new studio. My writing suffers as suffering consumes my attention. But I re/turned to fiber and my piece for The 2010 International Freeform Fiberarts Guild Show : http://www.freeformcrochet.com/2010/Pages/Akua.html is included in a book whose profits will go to Kiva and help Haiti. And today my latest pattern was poste This was first created in 2008 for my brilliant niece, and then evolved to a ruff I posed in (in my wheelchair!) for the Cave Canem Poets photo series in 2009. A great way to begin my personal new year! http://www.knitpicks.com/patterns/Dorrit_Collar_Ruffled_Cuffs_Crochet_Pattern__D1030.html Akua --

Laura, The couple we were using were not from any agency. I hired them during a crisis situation last year when my Mom suddenly became ill and had to go into a nursing home. They are a doorman in my building and his girlfriend. In the beginning they seemed nice. Then I found out she was on SSI for emotional problems and they became abusive. There was nobody to complain to, and they threatened my Mother and me more than once. Don't forget that some of us are more vulnerable than others. I'm glad your help has worked out for you. I've had nothing but pleasant encounters with them...ok, except for the first team which I complained about and they are no longer dispatched here. I think a large problem is that people don't speak up when something is not up to par. They can't read our minds and new PCA's often need guidance to help them get their job to the way we like it. Good communication right from the beginning avoids trouble later on. Laura On 05/12/2009 2:04 PM, Kevin Wolfthal wrote: Well, I think the powers that be finally gave my Mom and me a break. RE: [TMIC] OT Good news!
Kevin: I am so happy to hear that you finally found someone who has all the attributes you described below. I know it is hard sometime, but we need to have faith in the human race. I know there are so many good people out there, sometimes it takes a lot of work to find that person. I will pray that his lady will turn out to be the right person for you. [TMIC] OT - GOOD NEWS!.
Hello, Errol's grandson had his surgery and all is looking well so far. Please read the below message from Errol. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes, they reached Australia! Hello Everyone, Dane had his operation today. He was taken to the theatre at 7:30am and the procedure commenced at 8:00am. Shaun and his wife Liv waited with our daughter, Sharon at the hospital andat 1:00pm the phone rang to say Dane was off the by-pass machine. 2:00pmsaw the social worker take Shaun and Liv to a debrief with the surgeon. Hewas happy with the operation. Dane has had his aortic valve replaced andanother valve repaired, they used Dane's tissue to graft a repair to thehole in his heart and they scraped lots of infection from the heart chamberwalls, I think this was the calcification that was stopping antibiotics fromfully clearing up the infection. This is the first major hurdle overcome, more tests and checks to go. Tonight we are advised Dane is looking a little better, there appears to be no damage to the heart muscle where the infection had lodged but his clotting cabability is not fully going yet. He is back in ICU and hooked up to many devices. He will have to haveanother MRI to check for any brain bleeds, however there is no apparentcerebral swelling which is a good sign, also his body swelling is at aminimum, another good sign, he has to have some liver tests to come. Today has been a very long waiting day. But the call we got later in the afternoon and this evening is what we have hoped and prayed for. If the surgery was not done today, Dane would have, in all probability not seen another 24 hours. We are so releived. Thanks again for your kind thoughts and prayers for our little Dane. We now hope he can recover and get through the next phases of his treatments. Love and Kind Regards from Mavis and Errol and Dane's very thankfullparents, Shaun and Livxxx South East Queensland, Australia

Applied in late September and got my first check in November. I was extremely lucky. I think that what helped me is that my Devic's is relapsing---things just kind of get progressively worse and it doe not have a good prognosis.. Grace
