Connie,
I take 10mg Baclofen 3 times daily and 100mg Lyrica approx every 8 hours.
I think the Baclofen helps the most with the banding and know I would be bed-
ridden without it. I've been on Baclofen for five years and on this dose for
the last three.

I didn't know there were meds that could lessen the tight banding feeling
and would love to hear feedback on what meds work and of any side-effects
from them. Never heard of Tegretol before but will look into it.

Have you talked to your doc yet about this?I fullly understand asking
the TM'ers first - they know more about it. But surely
your doc can come up with a reason for this. If you find out, please let
us know, and I hope it never happens again.

  Hi Jeanne,

The banding has been exactly the same for me. It has been with me
since day one and starts underneath my breasts and goes all the way around my
abdomen. When it gets real bad, it continues downward until I feel completely
enveloped by it. Sometimes it hurts so badly it hurts to even breathe.

I don't let TM or anything get me down, but I am beginning to feel
angry, after seven years. I am pissed because I cannot work in the garden and
go places without it being a big deal to get dressed, fix my hair and sometimes
put on make up so the pain doesn't show so badly. I was told that I looked old
when I am in pain...by a sweet 14 year old boy. "Thank you very much".

For the constipation problem, for years I have used Fish Oil
capsules, one per day and I get them from the health food store or my pharmacy.
They work like a dream. And I have the kind of bowel that moves the poop down
to "the vault", but will not push it out, so I have done digital removable for
ever and ever. It's not fun, but we need to do what we need to do...

Those of you who got that banding feeling do you all
just have TM or did you also get subsequently diagnosed with MS too? And if you
did experience the banding feeling, did you experience it at the beginning of
your TM (or MS) journey or somewhere down the road? :-)
Just wondering if TM'ers get the banding feeling or is
it only those that get MS too. I had it at the start of my TM but it went away
after a month or two. I had a very mild case of TM and as of yet not diagnosed

Hi Janice,
I have the banding;it's a severe tightness around my trunk from T4 to just
below my waist. It has been constant since 8/13/95 when tm hit me. It gets
tighter and more uncomfortable if I do anything more than my usual routine. At
times it is so tight I can't take in a deep breath. It is not painful. I take
baclofen 30 mgm twice a day;have been on that amount since onset of tm.I tried
to cut down the baclofen, but then the tightness becomes unbearable.

I've had TM for five years and don't "expect" an MS diagnosis.
I've had the banding trom the beginning. During one of my steroid IV's (first
five days) I rang for help and told the nurse I couldn't breath and something
was squeezing my chest. It was painful and I asked her if I could be having a
heart attack. I still get banding on a regular basis, however, I don't panic,
I work harder at breathing and hope its time for some Baclofin.

I just have TM. Ha, just have. What a thing to say. I have TM. And I have
no evidence of MS or anything else. And the banding has been helped by lyrica.
But the burning/razor blade feeling has not been helped. And my legs ache.
Like chewing on a piece of tinfoil ache. All the time. Drives me crazy.

Glad that you only have a very mild case of TM. I was told by a neurologist
in Vancouver that if you are going to have another TM attack it will occur
within 5 years. This is my 5 year anniversary month. Yay me.

I had that banding feeling when I first got diagnosed 5 years ago also.
But with my second attack in January I didn't have it thank God!

I've had TM for five years and don't "expect" an MS diagnosis. I've
had the banding trom the beginning. During one of my steroid IV's (first five
days) I rang for help and told the nurse I couldn't breath and something was
squeezing my chest. It was painful and I asked her if I could be having a
heart attack. I still get banding on a regular basis, however, I don't panic,
I work harder at breathing and hope its time for some Baclofin.

The banding came on immediately with the TM and has never left. Without
the meds, it is excruciatingly painful and just heads south to my toes.
Funny how you can hurt so bad and 'not feel'??? Explain that to someone??

Hi Laura - I was diagnosed with TM in 2002, then MS in 2008. I never
experienced any banding (?)

About the banding. I actually had banding pains as early as age 19. 5 years
later I got left foot drop. 10 more years I got right drop followed by lose of
right leg. The banding that came after tm was far more painful. Took sleep and
energy and seemed to never end.

Hi

I just have TM. Ha, just have. What a thing to say. I have TM. And I
have no evidence of MS or anything else. And the banding has been helped by
lyrica. But the burning/razor blade feeling has not been helped. And my
legs ache. Like chewing on a piece of tinfoil ache. All the time. Drives
me crazy.

Glad that you only have a very mild case of TM. I was told by a neurologist
in Vancouver that if you are going to have another TM attack it will occur
within 5 years. This is my 5 year anniversary month. Yay me.

I was told that I had m.s. within 5 minutes after meeting the first neuro in
2oo5. The t.m. diagnosis came almost a year later after colon then bladder
stopped working but tm WAS what hit me n 05 according to the neuro. The info
confused the hell out of me. I was hit with trigeminal neurologia and brain
stem demylination last fall. MS seems to be the underlyning factor with each
wierd thing. It might be why I recovered so well from tm. But I have to worry
with future attacls and problems.
