I plan on asking my neuro about the lyrica when I see him in august...tho I only take my neurontin so I can sleep at night , and relax my sensations..not for pain. I also guess I am lucky in the respect that I only take 900mg once a night. Re: [TMIC] More questions

2006-05-10 Thread Heather & Pieter
I too was on Baclofen, Zanaflex and Neurontin. I was able to stop the
Zanaflex about 5 months into TM. I have also cut down the Baclofen and the
Neurontin to 1/2 of what I was on 2 years ago. It has made quite a
difference in my fatigue being able to cut down from 3600mg of Neurontin and
80 mg of Baclofen to 1800 to 2400 of Neurontin and 30 to 40 of the Baclofen.
I no longer need an afternoon nap. I am somewhat less comfortable with the
pain but the meds still take the edge off.

I've had TM for 2.5 yrs and reread the "Patient Counseling Information"
sheet that comes with my meds just to remind myself of some of the bad
effects.
The sheet for Baclofen says to check with doctor ASAP if you experience
weakness of arms or legs. The sheet from Neurontin/Gabapentin says to
check with doctor ASAP if you experience decreased coordination. My neuro
confirmed my daughter's observation that I looked wobbly and drunk after I
took my meds.
I cut back 25% on both the baclofen and neurontin and have better
coordination

and less memory loss.

Re: [TMIC] More questions

2006-05-08 Thread ceckenberg
Hello Nima: I am on Tizanidine and Lyrica. Both seem to work ok.
Remember, I am not a doctor, so cannot give medical advice.
I see several factors at work here:
All medicines have side effects. One of Tizanidine's is drowsiness. So
is Lyrica. I take naps after medication time so I can function.

As we deal with our cluster of symptoms, we have to compensate for our
deficiencies by overworking other parts, thus causing more problems.

I see others on the list who regularly see a physiatrist to evaluate
their functioning and suggest exercises and ways to strengthen and
improve physical functioning.

Be sure to let the doctor know about these problems! Be an advocate for
him! Don't take no for an answer. And with everything else that is
going on--is he being treated for depression? TM has the highest
coincidence of depression of any disease, including MS.

Hooray for you looking for answers!
