Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] 24/192
Yes its a linux driver that gets compiled into the linux kernel used in the Touch. I would be glad to do the modifications, but to my knowledge Logitech has not made the source for the linux drivers available. So either someone at logitech does it, (not likely any time soon) or they make the source available for someone outside Logitech to modify. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch & Audio Engine AW1
I don't see why it wouldn't work. The AW1 can be used with any audio source and any speakers, not just the Audioengines. The only question may be whether or not the Touch's USB port would power the sending unit. Since the port can power a USB disk drive, it should work. If it doesn't, or you want to attach a USB drive and use the built-in Squeezebox Server, you can still use Audioengine's AC power adapter. -- JJZolx Jim JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74937 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeezebox Touch & Audio Engine AW1
I've not used the AW1 but am quite familiar with the AudioEngine speakers. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with any Squeezebox including the Touch via the RCA output jacks or the headphone jack. But, the AW1 is also designed so that it can transmit directly from a computer via the AW1 USB dongle. The USB port on the Touch is designed as an input device so I doubt if it would work to transmit the same way a computer would. But, of course, the other AW1 USB dongle can be inserted directly into your A5s. Seems like that would be a great setup and extremely portable. I have no idea how good the wireless sounds compared to running wire. -- mdconnelly Mike mdconnelly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74937 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I've had a beta Touch for about a year now, and I have never picked it up or held it in my lap to use it as a remote. This includes several months when I was using it only to control an SB3, and therefore did not have any audio cables connected to it. It has a solid base with rubberized feet, so it doesn't slide when you place it on a shelf or a component and use the touchscreen. Obviously I don't speak for all SB users. Maybe some will want to use it as depicted in the video, but I have to think it will be a very, very small minority. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75007 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] IR blaster and Touch
Hi Dave No problem. The microcontroller is Logitech pre-programmed and can be updated in the field in case we need to fix bugs. Are you asking about _receiving_ RC5? I don't think that will be implemented any time soon as it is not needed for basic IR blasting. Even without this you can still send RC5 coded commands to RC5 devices. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] IR blaster and Touch
Hi there The IR-Blaster solution I am referring to is using a similar mechanism / server plugin as we have for SB Classic. I.e. Squeezebox Server is sending IR commands via SlimProto to SB Touch where the commands are sent out via IR emitter attached to the headphone out. This solution cannot easily be modified because IR reception and IR blasting are controlled by a pre-programmed microcontroller in SB Touch (source closed). But since SB Touch is running Linux and has an USB port I could imagine a solution using LIRC (www.lirc.org) and an USB IR dongle (i.e. www.iguanaworks.net). Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch as remote controller - interesting logitech video
Then again, anyone up to speed o the Touch knows that there would have to be a cable and knows what to look for. True, it's visible in the second part of that sequence, but in the first part the advertising blurb is placed so that the cable is (almost) hidden. Oh well, visible or not. I agree that the ad is questionable since it shows the Touch used in a way that gives a skewed picture of what a Touch is. Of all possible use cases for a Touch I think having it in your lap as a remote controller will be among the least common. This might IMHO lead to misunderstandings that are anything but beneficial for Logitech. -- alfista alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75007 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
