Right, no thumbs.jpg or hidden temp files. There are multiple image
files all associated with the same album in the same folder in every
case... I have a well organized collection without random images here
and there as all music is either ripped by me or downloaded from
Amazon.

Here's hoping 7.6 fixes it...

Not super big deal...of course I got the portable USB drive expressly
so I wouldn't need a computer. Also those of us without thousands of
posts are a little more afraid of beta code, I suspect :-D - especially
when there is no guarantee this will fix it.

I got the nightly build of 7.6 on and it is scanning...wish me luck

2010-06-16 Thread danull

Oh I guess can't do nightly build unless I connect Touch to a computer:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77394&highlight=touch+nightly+build

Anyway, gave up on wipe and rescan after about 45 minutes because it
still said it was removing the old stuff/not making progress.

Found this thread:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79198&highlight=wipe+rescan

Looks like Wipe and Rescan might not be any good on 7.5.1?

So I attached the drive to my netbook and deleted the .Squeezebox
folder and when I reattached the USB device it went through the
discovery process and complete re-scan.

Afterward, album artwork is still hosed.

Sounds like my only option now is to figure out how to move to 7.6.0...

I know about the nightly builds but not sure how to update the SBS when
it is on the Touch to see if 7.6.0 fixes this issue (the nightly builds

In the meantime, I stopped SBS on the Touch and am trying a wipe and

Have you tried turning on debug logging mode for the scanner
(settings->advanced->logging down near the bottom of the list) and
running the scan that has the problem. There should be details in the

[SlimDevices: Touch] Horribly low resolution album artwork w/ TinySC and 7.5.1

2010-06-16 Thread danull

Hello,

I just got a new portable/USB drive yesterday and moved my music
collection onto the USB drive and plugged it into the Touch. As I was
doing so I noticed 7.5.1 was available and upgraded to that. Then
proceeded with the start of SBS on the Touch & allowed it to scan to
completion.

After moving my Squeezebox Server to be TinySC on the touch instead of
running it on my home workstation, I am seeing horrible resolution for
album artwork - as if the smallest album artwork (icons) is being
stretched to be the now playing artwork. I see this horrible
resolution album artwork on the now playing for iPeng, Squeezebox
Radio, and Squeezeplay. I never had this issue on 7.5.0 and using my
Workstation as the SBS.Also I have a mixture of WMAs with the album
artwork integrated into music files and MP3s where I have a cover.jpg in
the directory - both types of albums are suffering from this problem.

Does anybody have any idea what I might be able to do to fix this or
maybe I should be opening a bug report?

Thank you,

-Dan

First, sorry I saw rotho's post as one of yours. Second: I've tried
your way now also. But:

1. Here telnetting 'prefs composerInArtists 1' does change
server.prefs, but does NOT initiate a new scan.
2. Deleting the databases does of course force a rescan.
3. In whatever way I change the composerInArtists, I still see the bug

have to use play here as rotho describes.

Not using 7.5.1 SBS on my production server yet. And this was a
question about TinySC, so wouldn't the firmware version be more
pertinent? Sure the firmware is going to come down with SBS 7.5.1 if I
upgrade my Server, but what if I connect the Touch to MySB.com (since I
use them mainly in the car or without Internet or Server), what firmware
version do I need to be above to have the FLAC optimization on the Touch
for TinySC?

Or am I not understanding this correctly, Andy?

Maybe TOO optimized. When playing a Random Mix->Song, the 1st FLAC is
played immediately, which might sound good, but then TinySC struggles
building the next 10 tracks in the playlist and re-buffering occurs
(only on the 1st track).

Any way to delay the playing of track 1 until the playlist is built?

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?

2010-06-16 Thread Peter Galbavy

No issues playing 24/96 off an SDHC card and I think - but I may be
misremembering - from a USB HDD.

Sure it is. But changing that pref will require a full rescan. Changing the
value in the prefs file won't do this, setting it through the CLI will take
care of it.

Do you mean that the method using the CLI does not change the setting in
the server.prefs file ? Where is this setting stored then ?

Anyway, I will try that when I have the time (in a couple of days), and
report back.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?

2010-06-16 Thread rotho

AFAIC, I tried v7.5.1 (official build) and I still have problems with
certain 24/96 files when using TinySC. I re-encoded them with different
compression levels, but that did not make any difference (of course
these files play flawlessly when using the external server).

Do you see the same behaviour when setting the composerInArtists pref through
the CLI? If so: anything in server.log? Would be worth a bug report.

I think Teus was referring to my post just above yours (the two were
posted exactly at the same time !).

There is indeed a bug after you activate (via SSH) the
ComposerInArtists field for TinySC : when you navigate through an
Artist which is in fact a Composer, the Touch gets stuck after
selecting one of the album of this Composer. You have to use the
context menu and select Play, which is not very satisfactory. (See also
my post here :
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=541372&postcount=7)

Unfortunately, since this bug only appears when you activate a hidden
feature in Tiny SC, I doubt that it will be fixed in a short time...

But perhaps this bug also appears in SC 7.6 (which seems to be close to
TinySC) ? Can someone using v7.6 make the test ?

I attached the files, they have to be adopted to the used ip-addresses
and another WPA-PSK. Good luck!
