Make sure that you start the internal server on the Touch and that it scans the files (have patience it is slow) and then use the music menus like artist and album when it's finished . Note that the "music folder" option is blocked while it's still scanning try album , Also let the the new Touch upgrade itself they are delivered with very ancient firmware (I'll be surprised if it worked). I'll get new 7.7 fw from mysqueezebox.com when you register it. Which server version do you have ? to function with Touch it should be >7.5 or better, but the internal servers seems to work better >7.6 I intended to try with my 8GB card but guess what the card reader in my pc an my OS could not mount it :) it works trough my camera thou . I actually would be very surprised if an hardware error actually disabled SD card or USB drive access. Have you seen this wiki , maybe slightly outdated but the only good instructions on using Touch as server . Note that it will actually be a small server system and that you actually connect the player to the server on the same machine just like you connect and external squeezebox . Logitech apparently changed their mind and sent me return authorization paperwork last week. Next question is how long its going to take for me to get the replacement. Mnyb-I'm using a XP computer to rip CDs to flac files on a big USB hard drive connected to that computer and copy those files to SD cards. My SB Classic connects to that computer to play music at home. The physical lock on the cards is not switched on. I've not deliberately done anything to make them un-writeable. I think the cards are formatted FAT32. My computer doesn't ask me anything when I pop a new card in. I've tried 16 & 32 GB SDHC cards. The 16 GB card had 6 song files on it. So it was a long way from being full. The 32 GB cards were written long before the Touch showed up. I made them for use in my HP Windows Mobile pda running a program called Pocket Player. Works great as a personal player and plugged into my car's audio system. Bought a Touch in part because I thought I might want to take it and a card or 2 to someone else's home to play my music there sometime. The point is to use the cards that have a primary use in something else in the Touch also. I've already got primary and backup 1.5 TB USB hard drives full of flac files. I don't want to buy and fill a smal hard drive with files to use just if I get asked to supply music. My Touch didn't work with a USB flash drive either. So I doubt a hard drive would have worked. I don't know what SSH or ls-la are. The Touch did read the jpg cover art files off my cards. Just not the flac files. Gary- As I wrote above, the purpose of the SD cards is to use in my personal player. A small USB drive would decrease the portability of the player. And I don't want to make up a small USB drive just in case I want to take the Touch somewhere. I'll post again once I've had a chance to shake down the new Touch. I wonder if Logitech will check it out before sending it to me. Mp3tag will not write ID2 tags to Flac files. If there are ID3 already present then it will leave them alone, but it never creates them or saves data to them. The only application that I've seen write ID3 tags to Flac files is EAC. Make sure you untick the option in EAC to write ID3 tags when you rip a CD and encode with Flac. As amcluesent says above, removing the ID3 tags is awkward, but it does work. I'm about to get grado headphones with a fiio e7 headphone amp. Hire should I wire this up? Should I use the analogue outs of the touch to the fiio or from the phono out... the fiio has its own dac but not sure how it compares to the Touch's dac. Be careful with zip codes at tune in :) they are assumed to be US , use the other address setting to get localized, if your non -US . My zip code in Linköping is the same as a the little town Mott in North Dakota , got me very very confused a while . There has been some problems with my internet connection and I might have gotten a new IP adress in the process. BUT - it is still very much a danish IP. It is also recognized as such on google or mysqueezebox.com (it gives "We have detected that you are in a different country than you have selected." if I select e.g. Ireland on account settings in mysqueezebox.com). As far as I know the local stations are listed by interrogating your ip address. So, for some reason you appear to be in Ireland. [SlimDevices: Touch] Country disappeared?
After the latest software update (7.7.0 r9550), I lost all internet stations from my country (Denmark). When I go into the menu for "Internet Radio->Local Stations" I am now apparently living in Ireland(?) and there seems to be nowhere to switch country?!? The account I am using is registered correctly at mysqueezebox.com. Is this kinda screwed up or am I missing something? Hope someone can help as this little thing is sooo frustrating to work with. As you can hear, I find this REALLY annoying as we have quite a few good local stations (I don't mind the Irish but ... I really like the local radio!). Even moreso after I gave up on the tiny squeezebox server thing due to all the problems with USB standards and insufficient power on the frigging touch USB port. Apparently it was a surprise that people would connect small USB harddrives...so in effect the latest update bricked the touch for me. S...I hope for one of you all-knowing guys here to help me out a bit as I am very close to throwing this stupid thing that could be so f*** great out the window and surrender to Apple. Successfully connected SB touch to Outlaw R2150 USB. Works 90% of the time and sounds great. But occasionally the sound degrades into a strange sort of tinny, robotic distorted version. Sometimes it fixes itself after a minute but sometimes requires a full reboot (unplug) to fix. Is this the same thing as the clicks and pops others have described? Or am I dealing with something different? Removing ID3v2 tags from FLAC files seems awkward in mp3tag.
