[SlimDevices: Touch] Volume Synchronization

2010-05-06 Thread KJAM

Can anyone please tell me how to synchronize the volume on multiple
squezeboxes while using Squeezebox server on the Touch?

I am able to synch my Touch with two other SB3s, but I am unable to
figure out how to synch the volume on all of them. I was able to do
this when I was using squeezebox server on my computer. Is there a
setting for this? I beleive the interfce on the computer has a setting
for synching the volume.

Thanks!

Carib...please let me know how things are working when you get it set
up. I am really curious to see how others with the same hard drive are

Ferdie...I am using a 1TB WD Elements with my Touch. It does indeed
spin down and go into stand-by mode when the Touch is not active...and
then spins back up when I wake up the Touch.

I am having some trouble with the Touch not being able to connect to
the drive from time to time, but I'm not convinced it's the hard drive
yet. I think it's a problem with the Touch.

Let me know how it's working for you when you get it. I would be
curious to know if you have any issues.

I have just under 30,000 files. The hard drive is a Western Digital
Elements 1TB and this is happening even when I am not trying to sync
players and just running the touch by itself.

I'll try your suggestions, but I don't believe I am sharing the drive
and I am only using the default now playing screen. I'll double check
though.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Local Music Server Stopped

2010-04-22 Thread KJAM

I am having trouble getting my touch to play from my attached hard drive
for more than a couple songs at a time. After a few songs the music
stops playing and I get an error which says "local music service has
been stopped due to a problem" At that point I have to reconnect to
the squeezebox server before I can play music again.

Anybody else having this problem or have any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Same problem here...I can't get multiple players to sync with my Touch
for extended periods of time either. I am trying to sync the Touch
with two SB3s and one Boom. Even if can get all of the players to sync
together, the touch usually stops playing after a few minutes and I do
believe it happens just before a new song is about to begin.

John...I can't confirm whether or not your tip did the trick, but I'm
going to give you credit for it anyway! I deleted the "squeezebox.db"
files that were on my hard drive as you suggested before I tried
another scan and it worked this time. I also did a soft reset of the
Touch before the scan using the reset button on the back of the unit.

Thanks again John and thanks to everyobdy else who offered their

Thanks for the info...I did the same thing you did by searching for
jpg. files. I could not figure out though how to resize them all at
once...I had to do most of them individually. What's the trick for
reducing them all in one shot?

I'm starting to think this is not my problem though, seeing that you
only reduced your files that were over 400kb and you have 1600 files. I
only have 625 files and all are under 400kb. What size are your files?

Gomez...can you give me some idea about how many cover art files you
have and how big they are? Just curious what size you reduced all of
your files to. I have 625 files and they average around 100 to 200kb
each and I get the error when I reach around 85% of my album art scan.
I was only getting to about 25% of my album art scan before I reduced
them from much larger. I'm wondering if spending the time to reduce
the file size even more might get me a full scan.

Michael...thanks for your response!

Can you please explain how to "not run the ImageViewer". I'm not sure
how to do this. Will this allow me to succesfully scan the drive and
if so will I still be able to view album art when complete?

Also, can you please explain how to upload my message log file. I have
never done this before.

I was having the same problem...I was getting the error when 25% of the
way through scanning the album art files. I re-sized all large album
art files to below 300kb. I had some files that were as big as 6MB.
When I re-scanned the drive I still got the same error but was able to
make it through 85% of my album art scan this time. At this point I'm
really not if that is the problem or not? Should I try reducing the
files sizes even more? I only have 625 album art files and the largest
is 300kb with many being under 100kb. I would be suprised if the touch
can't handle that.

Great thought, but this is the same exact external USB drive that I
have been using with my computer and Squeezebox Server with no scanning
issues ever. I guess I'll just have to start digging around in my drive

The results of my "Wipe/Re-scan" did not go much better. The scan
stopped again in almost the excact same spot. It made it all the way
through the music scan (20,000 files)and then stopped about 25% of the
way through the album art scan (600 files). So is there a problem with
one of the album art files? Any ideas of how to get around this issue?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply...glad to know it's probably not the non-music
files messing things up. Any other thoughts on what the problem could
be?

I am currently trying to re-scan again, but this time by using the

had to choose a folder to be scanned it did not just scan your whole

I ordered mine directly from Logitech USA on 4/7 as soon as I heard
that the Touch was released, and my order still has not shipped. The
order status also still says "Order In Process".

I called Logitech this morning and they told me that the Touch is
truely out of stock but they are expecting another shipment within the
next week or two and my order will be filled with one of those. So most
likely if you ordered anytime on or after 4/7 as I did, you will be

Did you order from Logitech USA or are you in another country?

I ordered mine directly from Logitech on 4/7 as soon as I heard that
the Touch was released, and my order still has not shipped. The order
status still says "Order In Process".

I called Logitech this morning and they told me that the Touch is
truely out of stock but they are expecting another shipment within the
next week or two and my order will be filled with one of those. So
most likely if you ordered anytime on or after 4/7 as I did, you will
be waiting for the next shipment to arrive.
