It is a PC (the brand name isnt important anymore as most of the stuff has been swapped out...including the motherboard) running Windows XP. Sometimes it will not load Microsoft Security Essentials either. This may be an issue for me to bring to my IT guy at work. It probably is not Squeeze Box related. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I will report back if I discover anything amiss and if anyone has any ideas, I would sure appreciate them. Both programs in question booted up as they were supposed to yesterday. More often than not, my SB Server will not boot with my computer. Sometimes it does, but often it does not and I have to launch it manually. Anyone know whassup with that? Thanks Gary. Can I just create a folder in the directory where I store all my music titled "Playlists" and then copy the tunes I want into it? If I have the artwork already imbedded then the SB should pick up both the data and the art...yes? I do not integrate the SB and iTunes either. The SB is told to scan the drive where my music is stored but I do not check the "use iTunes box". I was just looking for a way to create the playlist in the iTunes program and then have the SQ see it...if that means using iTunes and copying all the music into another folder, thats OK. Would that work? Maybe? If not, you said you use SB and iTunes...how do you create playlists that the SB can see. Thanks in advance. I use iTunes. I now realize that in order to display my cover art on the SBT I cannot also have it show my iTunes playlists. This is not really an issue as I dont use playlists often, I usually just randomly access my entire collection. But I have an audio buddy and we get together once a month and listen to music at each others homes. For those occasions I prepare a playlist (I was using a ROKU Soundbridge before getting the SBT). The ROKU could see the iTunes playlists but not display cover art. So the question is, how do I use iTunes to create a playlist that the SBT will see? The thing is working now! I stopped using the "use iTunes" checkbox and just directed the SB to my music files...bingo! I will need to import the album art, but what I have there is showing up. The art has to be imbedded into the music file as you guys said. iTunes does not do this (again as you guys said) so I cannot use the iTunes artwork import feature without modifications. Anyway, when I did use it, half of the artwork was incorrect. No exaggeration, half of it was wrong. I will input 20 or 30 albums a night for a few weeks and before you know it, I will have it up to date. I do have to run a scan to get the art to appearunlessunless I am playing the album on the SB that I am pasting the art into. Then it comes up right away. The server skips and then the art pops up. Strange. For the odd songs that have no album art I plan on using an image of the artist and if I cant find that, I am going to design a custom filler myself to insert. Anyway, all seems to be well, and soon, I will be able to listen to it for more than an hour. LOVE the touchscreen interface! LOVE IT! My thanks to everyone. Had some strange experiences over lunch. I added one cover art as prescribed. No go. Then I did a re-scan in the remove and replace mode. Sothen the SB would play the music but not display any of the data. Several scans and clean-ups later the thing kicked in just as I was coming back to work. I could play the songs, see the info AND see the cover art (for the one album that I had added it). Butthe SB wont see my music collection as Mike's Music (the name I gave it in the SB control panel. Instead it displays the name of my computer. Sigh, one step forward, two steps back. That helps a whole heap! What if I have already let iTunes grab some cover art? Should I just delete that folder and start from scratch or grab the cover art from there? I assume the "custom image" thing I was asking about would work the same way? Much appreciated. I did read somewhere that I could imbed the images in the album folder as a cover.jpg file and the Squeezebox would find them. Hopefully that is true. Either way, it will be an arduous task. So, am I hosed? The odd thing is some of the artwork shows up. I was doing a random play last night and saw that awful grey CD image for most of the night and then a song from Hairspray came on and the cover art was there. Anyone know why? That is what I was concerned about. The iTunes thing. So the only album art I could use is stored in that iTunes cover art folder? Do I need to copy it to the artist or album folder then? Hopefully experts are now reading this. :) I just got a SBT and am using iTunes as my music server. Of course I am having issues with my cover art. I have read all the fixes and will likely try some of them, but I had an idea that I wanted to pass by the group here. Lets suppose that the actual cover art is not crucial to me, after all the name of the album is right there on the screen. Can I use any jpg file to fill the cover art space as long as it is titled cover.jpg and placed in the artists folder? For instance, if I wanted an image of Brian Setzer to appear each time a Brian Setzer song played, couldnt I just grab a neat photo of him and save it (400 x 400 pixels) in his iTunes folder as cover.jpg? Or would I need to place the image in each one of his albums folder? Or...will this even work at all? Thanks for the advice in advance.
