What's a high end transport anyway? The Plinius CD101 costs ~£4k but uses the same transport as an ASUS 52x cdr costing maybe £20. A friend of mine has taken the plunge (after much nagging by me :D ) and got a Touch. Running the Touch into a Benchmark DAC1 he can't hear any difference between that and a Plinius CD-101 CD player. FWIW I've started having problems today totally out of the blue. No changes to the system has been made. It's wired, SBS running on an Ubuntu 9.10 laptop with SBS 7.50 - tracks that played fine vefore (except the occasional single hiccup when first starting an album) were pausing every few seconds. Rebooted my laptop and it's running fine again now. I've not tested any CPU usage on the SBT but I did notice the server and the SBT were going out of sync before rebooting, the song would be 15-20 seconds down the road while SBS said 2-3 seconds. It wasn't an issue with CPU usage ont he laptop, it was sitting there quietly on <10% most of the time, following the reboot with the CPU at 100% while Twonky recaches SBS is running fine. I'm quite angry about the improved digi-out quality of the Touch over the SB3. No. Standard now playing screen with titles and artwork. No SSH or inbuilt server enabled. I can't add anything to the discussion other than to say I'm currently playing 96/24 with no issues at all. Wired connection (SBT cat5 cabled into a gigabit switch which is cat6 cabled to the server).
