Now I have some questions 1. What programs would tell me what neighbors are using and what channel ? 2. How do I tell what channel my router is using ? 3. Currently I have AT&T DSL service w a Motorola NVG510 router. If I were to look for a new router is there a site I can use to compare how powerful other ones might be. 31441 server log After I posted last night I shut down my PC & wi-fi for about 10 minutes. After re-starting everything worked again. This morning I checked the unit furthest from the router-still working. It typically had a 15-20% signal and worked for years no problem. Michael I apologize for being a PIA. I continue to have problems logging in to mysqueezebox.com. I have tried numerous times to reset my password and the system says that they have sent an email to me but it never comes. Can you help ? Thanks. I also have problems getting my 2 Touch units connected to a Win 10 PC via wifi to connect reliably. Everything used to work fine and in all of the attempts to fix things I am sure I goofed something up. I have done pc router shutdowns and resets. I have done numerous factory resets on the units themselves. Sometimes a unit will connect to my network but not my computer. Awhile ago I got the unit furthest away from the router to "play" It played for a bit and then cut out. Everything worked fine for years but I fear I screwed it up. What can I do ? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot get Touch to connect
Shut down my PC running LMS and my router for wifi and pulled the power from one Touch. I let everything sit for better than 30 minutes. Restarted router and did a reset. Went and reconnected power to the Touch unit that had been disconnected. Success it worked. I turned on the stereo and heard music. A short while later I went to the unit which power I had not disconnected and I was able to get to normal screens. Did not turn on that stereo but it appears OK. My guess is leaving the router off for a long period of time was the solution and not the router reset - I had previously done that. At any rate it appears that I have this great system back and running ! Yipee ! Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Running LMS on Touch
I do not think there is anything definitive on this topic. There are just too many variables within any given library. I ran my Touch that way for about a year. My attached drive probably had in the neighborhood of 20K tracks at that point. Nothing but problems and any time the Touch was powered off it had to rescan the entire library. Nothing but headaches. Attaching the HDD w the library to a PC running LMS just works and works well. I would never go back to the way you are trying to use it. dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104730 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Goodbye!
Sorry your Squeezebox experience was less than what you wanted it to be. Hopefully Sonos will provide what you want. The desire to appear to be tech savvy or requiring it to use something is a unique mindset from my perspective, although I am sure there are those to whom that does hold an attraction. I think that Logitech developed a system that has great capabilities. The greater the capabilities the greater the complexity and the room for problems to arise. I would guess that I use less of the capabilities than many-few plugins etc. I for one enjoy working through some of the issues that have arisen with my use. Those I might add were due to external hardware-routers rather than the Touches I own themselves. Many others might not feel that way and I understand that. Logitech dropped the Squeezebox line and promoted their new UE line which may resolve some of the frustrations for some people. From my perspective they went too far in the other direction from the original Squeezebox concept. Perhaps a stripped down and vigorously tested version of SBS/LMS might have made many folks happy. Who knows. I assume you are using an external HHD directly attached to the USB port of the Touch to play local music files stored on the HDD ? What I would try is to press in the tiny pin on the back of the Touch which will then bring up a screen telling you Factory Settings have been restored. Then go through the setup process. [SlimDevices: Touch] I am baffled
I have 2 Squeezebox Touches connected via wifi to a PC on the 2nd floor w LMS 7.7.1-r33750. One Touch is on the 1st floor and one in the basement. Yesterday I was having trouble getting the Touch on the 1st floor to play local music or internet radio. The one in the basement w the wireless signal passing through floors and a concrete wall was fine. I turned off LMS,PC, modem and router and rebooted several times w no success. Did several factoryt resets. After several rounds of all this I finally got the 1st floor machine to play. At various points in this process the LMS control panel information showed no players recognized, then 1 player recognized. Somehow I finally got it to show 2 players recognized. The odd thing is that the player in the basement farthest from the PC and router shows a signal strength of 43% and the player on the 1st floor closer to the PC and router shows no signal strength. Any ideas as to what is going on/what I need to fix ? The other thing I noticed yesterday was when trying to scroll through artists several times the scrolling on the 1st floor player zoomed through letters like it was on steroids. I have never seen this behavior before. dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96724 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SB Touch "music folder" access very slow
If you correctly tag your files life will be so much better. As garym suggested try using mp3tag to batch correct your current tags. Prior to doing so make a copy/backup and keep that just in case. Your library is fairly small compared to many of the other forum users so it may not be too painful. You might want to try a small portion of your library as a test. Point LMS at it w your current tags and then after correction point LMS at the corrected files/folders and note the change in performance. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeebox Touch: tagging wav & flac files; conversion of wav to flac; rip CDs to flac
You will find that most people here are advocates of FLAC as a file format. It is lossless and takes up less space on your drive. Wav does not have good support for tagging. The two software applications people prefer for ripping are Eac and Dbpoweramp. Eac is free, Dbpoweramp is not free. I use Eac and it works fine. I have not used Dbpoweramp but there are many advocates. I believe it may have more features than Eac. OP wants to use the Touch and Tiny LMS not with a server. When I got my 1st Touch that is how I used it. I had approx 18K files mostly FLAC along w some Mp3s. Approx. 1/3 had embedded artwork as well as a cover.jpg file in the album folder. I used a Toshiba Canvio 2.0 1TB HDD and SBS 7.5.3. It worked. The only reason I changed to using a network was ease of adding new files. It of course now scans much faster. I have since updated to LMS 7.7.1 and it works fine. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?82070-Touch-with-USB-drive-mastering-TinySB - this is an extensive thread he might look at for help. I again say that having an artist folder is not necessary if all albums are tagged the same in the artist field they will show up together when doing a search by artist. As John Swenson stated you should haver one album per folder. There is no need to have all Grateful Dead albums in one folder, this just adds another layer for Tiny LMS to work through. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] USB HDD with SB Touch
Use of a HDD without its own power supply directly to the Touch is not recommended. From what I recall the issue was the amount of power it might draw would cause the Touch to not function. That being said when I 1st got mine in 2010 I used a Toshiba Canvio 2.0 drive which does not have a power adapter and it worked fine. The only reason I switched to having a network w the HDD w my music attached to my PC was increased functionality and ease of use. There is no reliable list of what model wo its own power adapterworks and which does not because there are too many variables that may be encountered. People making these drives are constantly coming out w new models which makes it difficult to develop a list of what works and keep it up to date. I switched to wifi because adding files was a pain in that each time I added files I disconnected the drive and then had to do a complete rescan. http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16648 This is a link to configuring a Netgear router to work w the Touch. Might be worth a look. http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Squeezebox-Players/bd-p/squeezeboxplayers This is a link to the official forum, you might post there as well. I use a WNR 2000v2 w no problems. If you figure out what is causing the issue I would leave the Touch plugged in. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT randomly crashes my network!
You need to provide details of your setup-operating system etc. What are you playing when the system "crashes"-local music files or internet radio, are you connected to mysqueezebox.com when it crashes, where are your files stored-locally or on a NAS unit, what version of the software are you using, do log files show issues thaat can be looked at? There are many here who will try to help you, but they need more info from you to know where to start. Once you get things sorted out stick around and try to help others, it's a great community. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93294 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Hard Drive type
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezebox_Touch_-_USB_Compatibility This shows success w the drive you mentioned but am not sure how up to date the listing is. I used a Toshiba Canvio 2.0 w SBS 7.5.3 for several months before moving it to my PC. One has access to many more features run that way. I now rum LMS 7.7.1 w no issues. That being said, it is recommended that when using a drive attached directly to use one w its own power adapter. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93079 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] Confused and looking for hep
I have 2 Touchs connected wirelessly w my library connected to my Windows 7 pc on a portable drive w LMS 7.7.1. Tonight 1 of the 2 would when navigating to Artist, Album and selecting the 1st track only play that track as if I was attempting to create a playlist-I get a + in the upper right corner of the screen. If I were to use the touchscreen and select the album instead of the next step of going to the tracklist I get a black screen w an option to play and it appears to play the entire album when that option is selected. On the other unit if I navigate to the tracklisting and select the 1st track it appears that it will play the entire album which is the way both units were behaving before tonight.I have tried removing power, and factory reset on the 1st unit and still get the appearance of trying to develop a playlist. Possibly a setting of some sort but am baffled. Any ideas would be appreciated. Will also post to the official forum. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92798 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Have changed the sync setting. Wanted to add how stupid I felt upon reading the solution having seen that field before I should have remembered it. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] setup SB Touch
Try this, from the main menu on the Touch itself go to Settings, Home Menu, then select Internet Radio. Internet radio should then appear as part of the Home menu. You might find this of value as well if you do not already have it-http://www.logitech.com/assets/30072/documentation.pdf Good luck and enjoy. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92712 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] WAV or FLAC
To give you an idea of file size differences between FLAC and WAV, this morning I checked this as my son asked about it last night. For a single album Wav was 663 MB, FLAC compression level 5 314 MB. mp3 at 192kps was 90.1 MB. The big advantage of FLAC over WAV is hard drive usage space and as others have mentioned tag support. Have fun w your new Touch ! -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92520 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Any reason to covert FLAC files to other format?
I believe a compression level of 0 would only be feasible if you had your files stored on one of the new platinum hard drives. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92412 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] best cover size for squeezebox touch?
I seem to recall that when I researching the Touch it was advised to not have artwork larger than 150 x 150 pixels if running it using Tiny SC. That is what I did and had no issues such as you describe. "Please tell me how you got the Touch to "play nicely" with your usb hard drive. I have a 500 gig Maxtor, and have not managed to get them to work properly together yet!" I am not familiar w this drive but it is recommended that one use a USB drive w a power adapter rather than self-powered. That being said I used a Toshiba Canvio 2.0 1TB drive w Tiny SC and had no issues w approximately 18K Flac files w embedded artwork. -- dasmueller dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79210 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch with USB drive : mastering TinySB
"Now to try sixteen thousand tracks off a USB drive. Fingers crossed. It might take all night to scan that." I used to run my Touch this way w a 1TB Toshiba Canvio portable drive. It ran fine though updating the database and rescanning was a pain. I was unaware of the Samba thing and not sure how good I would be at implementing it anyway. I then got a router and set up a network. Works like a charm. I had approx 18K FLAC files w imbedded artwork (150 x 150 pixels or less) Scan took about 45min to 1 hr. I was using and still am using SBS 7.5.3. From what I understand the newer versions scan quicker but am not sure how that might be affected by Tiny SBS. You might want to convert them to FLAC files and then look at them in Mp3Tag to see if you can find a difference in the tag structure.
