I think the eject button should be an eject for one press and power off for 2 presses. -- sxr71 sxr71's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18773 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72685 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Digital out of Touch vs Transporter
I'd have to say to buy a transporter just for its ability to feed a DAC would be among the lower things in the totem pole to put your money towards. I would upgrade my headphones, my amp and my DAC first. -- sxr71 sxr71's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18773 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70623 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

That's what I would use it for, but really iPeng working with a fast server is like a dream. I mean its right up there with Apple's remote application. Its actually better in that there is far more functionality than "Remote" thanks to 3rd party support like MusicIP and Trackstat. I have to say $250 for the controller is a little out of line these days. There have been times I have been so fed up with the SB system due to constant bugs, things breaking between releases, just a real PITA to deal with. I researched Sonos, Olive and others. Costs was not a real issue because of the level of frustration with this product. But ultimately it was the 3rd party support that kept me trying again with this system. If you're willing to lose some capabilities mostly related to information about tracks and just to listen, then I doubt anyone could beat a computer running iTunes and an Airport Express. I maintain a copy of my library in ALAC just so I run it as a backup in case SB screws up. Sure optical out isn't the same as coaxial but it will make do when it is the only working system. I'd say if Olive gets a music recommendation engine like Genius or MusicIP and it allows and keeps track of stats then it would easily draw away people from the Transporter. The ideal I suppose would be to have both. -- sxr71 ---- sxr71's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18773 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72397 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
