[Bug 848915] Re: update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/Gtk.py: Gtk couldn't be initialized
It's not clear to me what we can or should do here. This is easily reproducible by starting update-manager in an environment without a $DISPLAY, e.g. from an ssh session where the display is not forwarded. The error message is perhaps too cryptic to be useful, so one fix might be to catch the exception and print a more helpful error message. If that fairly easy fix is enough, let me know and I'll work on that. ** Summary changed: - update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gi/overrides/Gtk.py: Gtk couldn't be initialized + cryptic traceback when running update-manager w/no X $DISPLAY -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/848915 Title: cryptic traceback when running update-manager w/no X $DISPLAY To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/848915/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 939218] Re: Intel Centrino Wireless N-1000 WiFi slow and disconnects sometimes (iwlwifi)
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.3 kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the other tags). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.3-rc5 fixed the issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed- upstream-v3.3-rc5'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. [Bug 938770] Re: Desktop becomes completely unresponsive
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 ubuntu ** Description changed: I'm finding that occasionally as I'm using my desktop it becomes completely unresponsive. Often this seems to be random, and these random freezes are happening several times a day. The only reliable way I've been able to reproduce it is by closing and opening the lid (which isn't triggering a suspend due to bug 933710). When in this state the mouse pointer moves but otherwise the screen is not updated at all. If I switch to a VT and back the desktop isn't even redrawn, only the mouse pointer. I've looked through the logs and can't find any crash reports when this happens. X is still running when in this state. [Bug 942279] [NEW] app tabs aren't copied to new windows
Public bug reported: When opening a new window, app tabs remain in the first window, and are not duplicated in the second window. This by itself is not a problem, but probably a feature request. More importantly, if the first window is closed before the second window, the app tabs are lost entirely. They have to be manually re-opened and set as app tabs. This bug report needs to be sent to Mozilla, not Ubuntu. I can't figure out how to do this, though. [Bug 934117] Re: nm-applet is calling poll() at ~10Hz
So I believe I managed to trace this down to the animation functions for the applet, when a device changes state. start_animation_timeout() gets called, and somehow clear_animation_timeout() never gets called to remove the 100ms timeout once the devices are done activating. I think this is probably some issue at the NetworkManager level rather than really in nm-applet, but I believe there's something we can do in the applet as well to mitigate such an issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934117 Title: nm-applet is calling poll() at ~10Hz To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-consumption/+bug/934117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 387915] Re: KDE: Cannot use Meta+accented char in global keyboard shortcut
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. But canonical no longer maintains kubuntu so an SRU for fixing this (if one could be developed) is not going to be done. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu) => xserver- xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387915 Title: KDE: Cannot use Meta+accented char in global keyboard shortcut To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/387915/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 646769] Re: Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However this sort of sounds like a bug in the capplet (or else in xkb-data). Reassigning to gnome. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu) => gnome- desktop (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/646769 Title: Neo2 keyboard layout doesn't work after adding regular german layout in maverick To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop/+bug/646769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 566161] Re: Keyboard acts like "Fn" key always pressed
This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However from the comments it seems that this has something to do with gnome gconf settings (so perhaps this belongs to gnome-settings-daemon?) Also sounds like there is a BIOS settings aspect to this, or perhaps completely different bugs are exhibiting the same symptoms. Not sure there's much we can do about BIOS settings causing trouble, but maybe file a new bug against the kernel to have that looked into. ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-input-keyboard (Ubuntu) => gnome- desktop (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566161 Title: Keyboard acts like "Fn" key always pressed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop/+bug/566161/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
