[Bug 537970] Re: Evince does not print images in some pdf files.

2012-06-14 Thread Matthias Jordan
Till, I'm afraid I don't understand you. I already attached the file to
Launchpad comment #19 (linked both in the comment and in the attachment
list in the upper right hand side as "The file, that Evince prints w/o
image") and in #19 I wrote that the PDF prints correctly using lpr.

[Bug 759627] Re: unity overlaps virtualbox on fullscreen

2012-06-14 Thread Martin Skogevall
I vote for raising the priority. This is the single one issue that
makes me want to switch away from Unity, and I have even started looking
at alternatives to Ubuntu to get rid of this.

The issue got even worse with 12.04 since both the "windows" key and alt
key overlays the full screen virtual machine. The only way to avoid
getting eht overlay is by holding the win/alt key down for a longer
time. This means it is impossible to quickly flip between windows in the
virtual box machine!

[Bug 1013131] Re: Sin acceso a /home después de actualizar kernel

2012-06-14 Thread Danielo Fuentes
He perdido totalmente el acceso a

[Bug 994575] Re: dnsmasq does not update nameserver info after network change

Using the indicator to dis-"Enable Networking" and re-"Enable
Networking" does not restart the NetworkManager daemon, which is
necessary for changes to /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf to
become effective. You have to open a Terminal and do "sudo restart
network-manager" or reboot.

> I have reviewed the resolv.conf file before and after connecting and the

Well, when NM is in "dns=dnsmasq" mode you will only see "nameserver 127.0.0.1"
in /etc/resolv.conf. No further addresses will be added there. The addresses
of the upstream nameservers including the VPN ones should appear in
/var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf instead.

If you comment out "dns=dnsmasq" in
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and restart network-manager then
up to three upstream nameserver addresses will be included directly in
/etc/resolv.conf and there will be no /var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf file.

If, in either case, you don't see your VPN nameserver addresses in the
appropriate file then there is something wrong with, e.g., your DHCP
server configuration, DHCP client,

But I suspect that you have also hit #1003842 and that you will find
that everything works after you restart network-manager with
"dns=dnsmasq" commented out.

[Bug 1010466] Re: dropdown boxes on sites stop working

2012-06-14 Thread Micah Gersten
** Description changed:

TEST CASE (from artnay on IRC):
  1. open some tabs in Firefox
  2. right click on a page and select view source (or ctrl+u)
  3. close the "view source" window using ctrl+w (make sure Firefox) and "view
source" windows are maximized
  4. now view source again but instead of closing the window by pressing
ctrl+w, close it by clicking X in menu bar
  5. try to do a right click on any page/tab, or try to give some input in
awesome bar

+
+ See comment #22 for a good summary of the issue

I have tried on a couple of different websites and none of the dropdown boxes
want to open. It is as if there is a refresh process or something running the
stops the dropdown from opening. I can click on the drop box and scroll down
with the down button, but I cant use a mouse click to open the dropbox. By drop
box I mean

Looking for the problem on other forums (not Ubuntu related) I've found that
there is an issue with versions after 2.67 of the mimedefang package and perl
5.10 on 64 bit platforms, when the mimedefang scripts run user embedded perl
code, as in my case.

The problem occurs randomly not appearing for several days, leaving everything
working.
As a first work-around I've increased the pool for slaves to 100, leaving 10
slaves running at any time. This seemed to have mitigated the issue, but this
week I am already at the second restart of mimedefang...

[Bug 1013171] Re: Many package hooks not ported to python3

2012-06-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package apport - 2.2.3-0ubuntu1

---
apport (2.2.3-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * New upstream bug fix release:
- test/run: Do not run pep8 and pyflakes when running against the sytem
  installed Apport.
- test_backend_apt_dpkg.py: For the "are we online" check, verify that we
can
download from http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/, not just whether we have a default
route. The latter is not sufficient for e. g. buildd environments which
are
online, but are restricted by proxies or firewalls.
- test_report.py: Call "sync" after test script write core dumps, to ensure
that subsequent operations have a complete one.
- test_signal_crashes.py: Drop the broken and obsolete test_local_python()
test. Instead, add two tests which check proper logging.
- launchpad.py: Fix urlopen() for Python3. Thanks Steve Langasek.
- test/run: Run the tests under LC_MESSAGES=C, to avoid failing tests on
  translated strings.
  * debian/control: Add libc6-dbg | libc6-dbgsym dependency to apport-retrace,
to ensure gdb can decipher the abort_msg_s struct and thus read assertion
messages. Also add libc6-dbg to debian/tests/control so that
report.test_add_gdb_info_abort can succeed in autopkgtest.
  * debian/control, debian/tests/control: apport-retrace needs a terminal
emulator, so add an x-terminal-emulator dependency. Add xterm as build and
autopkgtest dependency, so that the tests have one available.
  * debian/control: Drop python-launchpadlib from Depends to Suggests for
python-apport, too.

  [ Steve Langasek ]
  * debian/rules: call dh_python3 with --skip-private, to avoid incorrect
generation of a .rtupdate script for /usr/share/apport. LP: #1013171.

[Bug 1010504] Re: package tftpd-hpa 5.2-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1

2012-06-14 Thread Bjarne Hansen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1010891 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1010891

I don't believe it's an exact duplicate. I received the same error msg
described above. Ensuring the TFTP_DIRECTORY existed did not fix the
problem.

To diagnose it further, I examined file /var/lib/dpkg/info/tftpd-hpa.postrm On
or about line 22 I deleted the --quiet so it now reads:
deluser  --system ${TFTP_USERNAME}

Now when I try to remove the tftpd-hpa package, the error dump includes "The
user `nobody' is not a system user. Exiting.
"

This suggests that the postrm script is erroneously trying to remove the
'nobody' user, which is what I had set TFTP_USERNAME to in the tftpd-hpa
config file.

I next commented out the "deluser ..." line. The package removal now
proceeds without errors.

Yes, it's unity-2d. The attachment is the screenshot.
And I think I know why you can not reproduce it: you know, during my
installation, in the "where are you" part, the city the installer provides is
Shanghai or Harbin, with this city, I can reproduce the bug all the time. I
tried with choosing New York in this step, the bug can not be reproduced.

[Bug 1007976] Re: Windows jump to different workspace when switching workspace

2012-06-14 Thread roots
Hi all,

good news: At least for me, the bug seems to have been fixed by a patch
committed to get rid of another compiz-place-windows bug
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/974242).

To apply the patch the easy way:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oli/compiz-place-patch
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Please let us know if this fixes it for you, too!
Good luck.

[Bug 1013496] [NEW] evince print quality (no antialiasing?)

2012-06-14 Thread Magnetizer
Public bug reported:

Hello there,

yesterday I created an example file with lilypond. It generates a high-
quality .pdf file that I have attached to this bug.

When printed with evince (evince 3.4.0-0ubuntu1) the quality decreases
drastically. It looks like evince removes the nicely done antialiasing
that you can see on screen. The problem becomes obvious when looking at
the crescendo, decrescendo hairpins.

When printed with ghostview (gv) the result is somewhat better (even it
does not do antialiasing on screen).

I get a very good result when printing the file with Adobe Reader 9.5.1
or Foxit pdf reader (foxitreader:i386 1.1-0).

Everything is done on Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bits).

Besides the obvious suggestion to use Foxit instead of Evince, do you
have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

[Bug 988503] Re: PostScript output is invalid on non-english locales

2012-06-14 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi,

I'm very sorry but I'm not able to reproduce the bug, even after switching to
german locale (I'm a spanish user).
And I need to be sure that the fix works before uploading it.

Could you please indicate what is the value of your LANG variable?

Thanks,
Fabrice

[Bug 769866] Re: tab completion no longer escapes filenames and completes dirnames incorrectly (space instead of slash)

2012-06-14 Thread jon robinson
Just had to install acroread the other day (11.10; 64-bit). Suddenly
noticed I lost normal tab completion for things like ls, cp, and mv.
The patch described in #54 seems to have solved the problem. Thanks!

[Bug 1013171] Re: Many package hooks not ported to python3

2012-06-14 Thread Martin Pitt
This patch should be the bulk of porting firefox' package hook, and
should also apply (at least in spirit) to thunderbird's :
http://paste.ubuntu.com/1040952/ . All these changes are backwards
compatible with Python 2 as well.

I'm not quite sure how your ExtensionINIParserIter parser works,
"python3 source_firefox.py" now fails there.

Ok, here are a few more, also apport hooks. (These had a different

I added the packages, but am not man enough to set the milestones and

at first.)

[Bug 1013171] Re: Many package hooks not ported to python3

2012-06-14 Thread Martin Pitt
Reproducer: sudo apt-get install --reinstall python3

The actual bug is that apport ships a file
/usr/share/python3/runtime.d/apport.rtupdate . This is not supposed to
be there (autogenerated by dh_python3, I assume), and is just plain
wrong. I'll remove it.

This will leave the remaining tasks open, but will stop breaking
upgrades and thus be a lot less urgent.

There will be no slowdown once we merge gles and fbo binds are done just

Hmm, I don't think its really "fixed" by that branch, rather just the
tooltip is being re-rendered completely all the time every time there's
damage underneath it. That still constitutes the usage of
glCopyTexSubImage2D and not doing active blur properly using framebuffer
objects I would think.

[Bug 1013486] [NEW] libasound2-plugins has broken jack1 dependencies

2012-06-14 Thread Leigh Dyer
Public bug reported:

The "libasound2-plugins" package includes a JACK plugin, which allows
the user to route audio to and from JACK in applications that use the
ALSA API. This plugin works with either the JACK 1 daemon (which uses
the "libjack0" package as its client library) or the JACK 2 daemon
(which uses "libjack-jackd2-0"). However, the dependencies are only
satisfied by JACK 2.

The depends line for libasound2-plugins is as follows:

Depends: libasound2 (>= 1.0.25), libc6 (>= 2.15), libjack-jackd2-0 (>=
1.9.5~dfsg-14) | libjack-0.116, libpulse0 (>= 1:0.99.1), libsamplerate0
(>= 0.1.7), libspeexdsp1 (>= 1.2~beta3.2-1)

but there is no libjack-0.116 to satisfy this dependency. This package
should depend on either libjack-jackd2-0 or libjack0.

Incidentally, the ia32-libs-multiarch package depends on this package
for some reason. These ALSA plugins are entirely optional, and would not
be required for most users, so I don't think there's any need to have
ia32-libs-multiarch depend on them.

[Bug 306088] Re: Flash exits full screen moments after entering it

2012-06-14 Thread Robi Brunner
Just to update, this is still happening for me on Ubuntu 12.04 running a
Radeon card. Also affects vimeo.com videos.

The annoying thing is I cant seem to uncheck the "enable hardware
acceleration" button on the Flash's setting panel since it seems to
ignore any type of mouse input. I can tab through the different
options, but I just cant do anything to uncheck that box via keyboard or
mouse... perhaps this is another related bug.

Anyway, scenario is the same as above. I have "click to focus" turned
off which seems to be the problem. Turn that back on and the videos
stay full screen. But changing the "focus prevention level" does not
seem to do anything for me.

If I am really persistent at pushing the fullscreen button on these
videos, it will actually _sometimes_ work. For some videos, I'll have
to try a few times and it'll work, for other videos, no amount of
repeated fullscreen button mashing does the trick.

[Bug 1013471]

2012-06-14 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1013471/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
