Please find /etc/resolve.conf attached. Currently adept still is not updating but I can still browse with Konqueror, Kind regards, Chris Taylor nameserver 192.168.1.1 -- 'Fetch Updates' does not download updates. https://launchpad.net/bugs/49486 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49486] Re: 'Fetch Updates' does not download updates.
Hi, I tried browsing to the above URL with SuSE 10.0 via Konqueror and it worked fine, as did pinging it from the command line and the IP address resolved correctly (I can't remember exactly what it was but it was believable). Web browsing worked and there was no issue with proxy settings (forgot it is a direct connection). I'm still waiting on the Windows laptop, but I thought I'd keep you informed. [Bug 49486] Re: [Bug 49486] Re: 'Fetch Updates' does not download updates.
I know the IP address resolution is completely wrong. I have tried pinging google and other sites via the command line which works correctly. I don't seem to be able to browse this URL or infact, anything other URLs in the repository. Other URLs seem to be browsable apart from these. Might this be related to proxy settings, because I have seen other instances in forums where people have had trouble. I'll borrow a Windows laptop, see if it reproduces the issue regarding browsing these URLs there and check any proxy settings which are given. Then I'll report back to you with as much information as I can find. [Bug 49486] 'Fetch Updates' does not download updates.
Public bug reported: Hi, When I click on 'Fetch-Updates' Adept hangs on the status at 'waiting for headers' stage. All the package repositories have been enabled. Internet browsing works fine without problem (wirelessly or ethernet via a generic Guru Wireless router). Changing firewall settings has produced no change (port 80 is definitley open). Adding other repositories such as that for KDE-3.5.3 produces no change. Interestingly, running attempting to run apt-get instead produces the following output: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get update Password: Errhttp://security.ubuntu.com dapper-security Release.gpg Could not connect to security.ubuntu.com:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out Errhttp://gb.archive.ubuntu.com dapper Release.gpg Could not connect to gb.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out Errhttp://kubuntu.org dapper Release.gpg Could not connect to kubuntu.org:80 (1.0.0.0), connection timed out 0 This problem is reproduced with fresh installs of Kubuntu 6.06. If any more information is required please leave a message.
