Thanks for the information, guys! This is definitely not an X bug and I can't reproduce the problem any more after more recent updates, so feel free to close this issue. -- Xorg continuously uses almost a full CPU core https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for posting this bug. Would you mind pasting the output of the output of the lsmod command? You can enter this into a terminal, and it will assist us in assigning the bug to the correct package. [Bug 331745] Re: Xorg continuously uses almost a full CPU core
Usually not an Xorg issue actually. See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/HighCPU and try again to find the correct package to file against. If you still think it's an X bug, see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for guidance on properly filing bugs against X. ** Changed in: ubuntu Sourcepackagename: xorg => None -- Xorg continuously uses almost a full CPU core https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 331745] Re: Xorg continuously uses almost a full CPU core
** Description changed: I'm testing with Jaunty Jackalope and after today's updates, Xorg is suddenly using much more CPU than it usually does. The amount varies between 30% up to occupying a single CPU core. The system I'm using in an HP nx9420 notebook with ATI Mobile Radeon - card -- I use the driver recommended by the Hardware Drivers tool. + card -- I use the driver recommended by the Hardware Drivers tool. If I + disable the proprietary ATI Fire GL driver, the problem goes away as + well -- it might just be a driver issue instead of an Xorg issue If you need any more information or require me to test things, just ping me... Thanks, Gert ** Tags added: jaunty -- Xorg continuously uses almost a full CPU core https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
