Can we get this (1.7) into Edgy? (Though now 1.8.2 is current the stable version now ;-( ) -James -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
-> Built Package: /var/cache/prevu/dapper- debs/mediawiki_1.7~6.06prevu1_all.deb 1.7 from Feisty successfully backports to Dapper. This version is suitable for Backports. Is that OK? -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Is there any chance of a later version being backported into dapper? If you can tell me that it won't be in the next 6 months or so, then I'll go compile it from source for my own use, but I'd really rather prefer there to be an official package. -James -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Unstable, in the context of Debian, isn't being used to imply that a package is unreliable or something, it means the repositories themselves are unstable, ie. packages are updated often. Of course, it follows from this that the unstable repos will have more bugs than the more stable repositories, cause unstable is the first line of QA for new packages. Apologies if this isn't the source of your confusion, I'm just trying to help. -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Looks like both the 1.5 and 1.7 packages are listed under unstable at debian now. I'm confused how these could be unstable, but I haven't tested them either. Well since they're both unstable, we might as well get a 1.7 package going for edgy eh? -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Mediawiki 1.5.8 is in Edgy as package mediawiki1.5 See http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/edgy/web/mediawiki1.5 Although 1.6 or 1.7 would be *nice* since 1.5 is in edgy, is it possible to backport this to Breezy? [Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
*doh* I meant of course backport to Dapper. :-) -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Not for backporting. Only packages in the development release of Ubuntu are eligible for backports. However, if it's in Debian, it has a good chance of being in Edgy soon :) -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49056] Re: Backport MediaWiki
Ashar Voultoiz (one of the MediaWiki developers) pointed me to a Debian package for MediaWiki in testing: http://packages.debian.org/testing/web/mediawiki1.5 Apparently the packagers are also working on packaging 1.6. Is it possible that the Debian package can be used on ubuntu? -- Backport MediaWiki https://launchpad.net/bugs/49056 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
