I understand the nature of closed source software and the speed at which Ubuntu progresses. The problem with skype is only when you use the close button which minimises it to the system tray. If you only minimise skype unity will track it fine. Maybe we can pressure Skype for an update, or a more flexible solution. Apparently restarting your ubuntu after installing Skype solves the problem. The icon is showned in the systray and you can click on it to display the ui back right?
