Re: [Bug 856711] Re: 11.10 - Suspend fails on Asus 1215B

2012-08-05 Thread Ryan Fugger
I can confirm that adding "radeon" to my SUSPEND_MODULES seems to fix
this bug on 12.04. I have tested 8 or so suspend/resume cycles with
no problems, where before I could only get zero or one suspend/resume
cycles to work before it failed.

My /etc/pm/config.d/suspend_modules reads:

SUSPEND_MODULES="wl radeon"

Previously, the value had been simply "wl", which still seems to be
required for things to work correctly.

Presumably adding "fglrx" instead of "radeon" would help those using
that driver.

Note that this did not work with uswsusp. It seems to work both with
C6 enabled and disabled in the BIOS.

Thanks Choms!

linux again. but this is my working machine, but i'm still following
this bug, so finally i could use linux again.

I can report that the suspend problem still exists in 12.04, although
it might happen less frequently.

What is still required to confirm this bug? Thanks.

I had similar results.

When I used the latest kernel config from 12.04 (Precise) I ended up
without wifi (no brcmsmac), though it worked on 12.04. When I used a
.config that I'd created for 3.2.2 brcmsmac compiled fine, however
suspend/resume failed on the first attempt. I had C6 disabled in the
BIOS which may have been a contributing factor.

I made that exactly, but it fails to compile fglrx and wifi module,
don't know why...
also standby mode only worked once; is it because i installed uwsp at
the same time?
Is it worth investigating more deeply with this kernel, anything else
you did?

Re: [Bug 856711] Re: 11.10 - Suspend fails on Asus 1215B

2012-03-20 Thread pantas
I tried to build a custom kernel in Ubuntu Oneiric, followed this tutorial
http://blog.avirtualhome.com/2010/05/05/how-to-compile-a-ubuntu-lucid-kernel/
changing it to amd64 and oneiric; it worked out and after that in Ubuntu
i had to install "uswsusp" per apt-get following
CxOrg's advise.

Trying out "sudo s2ram -f -a 2" it worked 1 time out of 10. Also
disabled C6 cpu state in BIOS
Again no success
In Lucid and oneiric to make s2ram permanent you have to link s2ram to
pm-suspend

sudo ln -s /usr/sbin/s2ram /usr/sbin/pm-suspend
doing backups of pm-suspend before that

Any other suggestions ?

With C6 enabled the suspend/resume seems to fail almost every time for
me. Curiously it seems that the longer the system is suspended the less
likely it is to resume. With it disabled it fails 20-50% of the time.

I have tried to research what exactly C6 is, but haven't found any good
documentation on it. As a result I just leave it disabled. If anyone
else finds good documentation I would appreciate it if you could post a
link.

I will look into trying Mint 12 in the next week or so and will report
back on what I learn.
