Re: [Bug 1316272] Re: juju destroy-environment >=256 nodes fails
So this sounds like we are putting all the machine IDs into a single URL and we end up running out of URL space (quick google says that the default max length is 2000 characters). It sounds like we either need to send the request in batches, or POST the IDs rather than put them in the URL itself. [Bug 1310552] Re: could not extract the package.xml file from "/build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/packagename.tgz"
I stumbled on this problem today after a fresh install of Xubuntu 14.04 32 bit. For some reason, kolAflash's workaround is not working for me... My investigation led me to /usr/share/php/Archive/Tar.php. This script was unable to open tgz files because line 733 was returning "false" when checking for the existence of function gzopen. With this information, Google showed me a 5 year old bug (still open) that may be related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/451405 I really really had to install some pear packages, so my solution was to replace the following in Tar.php: - Lines 733 and 744 - Replace gzopen with gzopen64 - Line 888: Replace gzseek with gzseek64 and gztell with gztell64 This is not a solution but it may help find the solution (or maybe fix the 5 year old's bug?). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310552 Title: could not extract the package.xml file from "/build/buildd/php5-5.5.9+dfsg/pear-build-download/packagename.tgz" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bug/1310552/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1316357] [NEW] Network interface IP address not set on first boot if config drive used
Public bug reported: I'm trying to deploy an Ubuntu cloud image (I hit same issue on all Ubuntu images available from http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/) on a non DHCP network in Open Stack environment using config drive. Cloud init local successfully sets the /etc/network/interfaces file but does not reloads the interface and the virtual machine never gets an IP. If the VM is rebooted (or networking manually restarted from console) then Ubuntu picks up the new interface configuration and everything is working as excepted. The image itself has a configured eth0 interface set for dhcp. If I delete this configuration (from /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0.cfg) from the image then everything works as expected. After multiple tests in different Open Stack deployments I can confirm that this issue is intermittent. Sometimes the image would pickup the new IP but most of the time it wont and needs VM reboot in order to get the network configured. After some more debugging I think that there is some timing issue in the init scripts boot process on Ubuntu where the networking init scripts will try to contact the dhcp to get an IP but in the same time the cloud-init-local will setup the network and the networking scripts will never find out that the interface was changed from DHCP to static. The latest image I tested is: Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS cloud image from 5/5/2014 (the bug exists with all the cloud images available) and cloud-init 0.7.5-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316357 Title: Network interface IP address not set on first boot if config drive used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1316357/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1149410] Re: Stuck on "Trying to connect to the Juju environment"
Brian, can you do me a favor and check out the network inspector tool of the browser in your scenario? The client you load the GUI from needs to be able to login/pull down the JS from the GUI charm, however it also needs to talk on other ports as it holds a websocket connection to the juju state server. [Bug 525674] Re: apt-check hangs, preventing login via SSH
This is really painful - although I don't experience complete hangs, I do experience 12-second+ delays while the script "90-updates-available" grinds slowly though. So login via SSH is unpleasantly slow. Furthermore, bash completion for tab completion on scp commands is also very slow. [Bug 1316124] Re: Actual Ubuntu Slapd totaly useless for "serious" use
There's an open request (for a long time) for a backport in Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/685748 A backport should address the question of DB format upgrades when going from release to release. The technique currently used, checking the version of the package being upgraded, will fail if a newer package is backported to an older release (with an older DB library) and then upgraded (because it will already be newer than what the version check looks for). I don't have a good idea for addressing that. (Backporting from Utopic to Trusty is probably safe, as long as they have the same libdb version.) Backporting openldap in Ubuntu is time-consuming because the procedure calls for every single reverse dependency to be verified. See for example the list in a previous attempt: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/968612 The LTB project provides deb packages of the most recent sources, built according to upstream's recommendations. If you're currently just building and installing unmodified upstream sources, those might save you some time. http://ltb-project.org/ ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #685748 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=685748 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316124 Title: Actual Ubuntu Slapd totaly useless for "serious" use To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1316124/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Public bug reported: I have a CIFS mount and am operating over wireless on a Lenovo X230 Tablet Thinkpad When I close the lid to sleep, the sleep light flashes for a while and then stops, and the machine fails to suspend. Same if I try to initiate sleep from the menus. /var/log/kern.log is attached. This is bad because it can lead to damage from overheating of hardware (let alone running out of battery). I close my lid and don't usually check for success before putting it into my bag. If it fails to suspend, it will overheat. [Bug 838437] Re: nrpe server starts too early and fails to bind on IP
Surprised to see the bug is so old. It only affects people who use server_address directive. We have a Nagios server with ~30 clients connected via OpenVPN and only recently started adding the server_address directive to NRPE configs on clients. All of them will fail to start NRPE on boot since naturally, OpenVPN address isn't up until a while after networking has come up. This happens on both Debian 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. NRPE startup should somehow be moved after networking. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nagios-nrpe in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838437 Title: nrpe server starts too early and fails to bind on IP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/838437/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 1306315] Re: juju-mongodb process hangs around after package removal
James, this may be a special case for juju-mongodb, but if you uninstall a package, doesn't it usually stop the service that was running? (uninstalling postgres should stop the postgres process, right?) I guess in the case of juju-mongodb we have the problem that the packaging itself isn't setting up the upstart script, but it is only set up when you have bootstrapped an environment. I can't quite say what *should* happen if you uninstall a package that we are depending on. Certainly "juju destroy-environment" should be deleting the upstart script, I'm just trying to understand if "apt-get remove juju-mongodb" should also be stopping services that were using it. Or whether this bug should just be WontFix. Re: [Bug 1314686] Re: Please add support for utopic
I believe this is more about the local provider, which doesn't actually look for tools on streams.canonical.com I don't quite understand why we don't recognize 'utopic', though, as we *should* be reading /usr/share/distro-info/ubuntu.csv to find what series are available. Certainly you can see from the debug output that it is creating 'utopic' tools, it just gets to a point where it ends up deciding that it isn't actually a valid series. Maybe the issue is actually in the LXC code? Certainly we found that on precise we had to install ubuntu-cloud-image packages so that it could know what "trusty" is.
