Not sure how much is actually going to be made Open, but certainly some of
the first modules have been made free by Sun.

It's not very stable though, so you shouldn't recommend it to linux
illiterates
I prefer Azureus, although it requires Java. It's stable and has pretty
much every feature imaginable.
Btw I think I've heard that java's going open source is that true?

Another source of info could be when they connection fails open a
terminal and type 'dmesg', it should give you some info about what just
happened.

Also you can try 'tail /var/log/messages' and 'tail /var/log/syslog' for
more info.

One of these may tell you what just failed and caused the network
connection to drop out.

nice thought, but there's no firewalls installed :(.

I'm at a bit of a loss... it's basically a pretty standard install.

the only extras are ssh and fail2ban, but neither of those should effect
connections (that I'm aware of).

looks like I'm gonna ave to re-install :(

time and messages appreciated. Thanks guys.

Really? It's been rock solid for me so far, but it's interesting to hear
others experiences.

I've always avoided Azureus because of the bloat. uTorrent was all I'd
ever use apart from the 'official' client and the one in Ubuntu.

Actually Deluge isn't very well supported at all - there's only one guy
working on it, and releases/fixes are rather infrequent. There's a native
linux client for Azureus or, if you're using gnome and don't mind a few KDE
libraries, there's KTorrent which I find very good also..

Although the built in bittorrent client does work, it is pretty basic -
especially if they're used to the features of Azureus or uTorrent.

The other day I discovered Deluge - http://deluge-torrent.org/ - which
provides most features anyone will want, and it has become my standard
client. It's not in the repositories (yet), but the developers
provide .debs for Feisty i386 and amd64.
