Re: [ubuntu-uk] DVD burning problems.
DeVeDe is indeed very slow. I use it quite a lot, but I have come to the point where I am writing my own simple script to do the same job. I can't say yet that it will be any faster... video transcoding involves a great amount of processing. However I do have this feeling that DeVeDe takes a lot longer than it should. I can share the script when I have it working. Apologies for the top-post :-) Matthew. devede is indeed slow..know of anything faster that will convert to iso? I will try a different media... when using the cd/dvd creator default program i get an error message along the lines of " unexpected handle." well handle something anyway! > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com> Date: Thu, 4 Oct > 2007 09:30:14 +0100> Subject: Re: [ubuntu-uk] DVD burning problems.> > > > I > think that's a second problem.> > > > The main one, as Popey said is that > your drive doesn't support the> > media format on the disk you inserted.> > > Be that as it may, in order to read the video it will be necessary to> > convert the .avi file into .iso file. I presume that you want to burn the files so that you can watch a video on your television or somewhere. From my experience I do not think that will work and you need to convert the .avi files using something like DeVeDe which is slow but effective then look to the burning process. ok here goes! i was trying to burn a couple of avi files as a dvd with k3b. and once i click on burn all that happens is that a little pop up appears with a progress bar stating "reformating disk". after that i just wait and all that happens is the dvd rom just opens and closes on its own. nothing else. in the end i just end up cancelling it! hth regards javad > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To: ubuntu-uk@lists.ubuntu.com > Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2007 18:59:34 +0100 > Subject: Re: [ubuntu-uk] DVD burning problems. > > > > ok apologies. i thought id start a new thread. > > > > tried burning with k3b but that failed miserabley. > > I have just noticed this thread and wondered if I could help.
