[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 305301] Re: [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI (needs KMS)

2010-02-26 Thread Mark
Still happening for me (Amilo LI 1718) with the daily live CD (26th).

If I boot with radeon.modeset=0 the desktop won't corrupt and lock
up after a few minutes as it does without this option set. But still
won't resume the display from suspend or hibernate. Also, using that
option results in a garbled login screen until I press alt+SysRq+K .

Paganini: I understand you are a little frustrated, but we get a lot of
bugs that we need to handle, but most of them are fixed upstream and
then brought to Ubuntu in a newer release. Here I ask you to test the
apha release because if the problem has been fixed, we can back-port
that to karmic and that will fix this bug, if not then we need to work
on it. Since Lucid is almost ready to come out (in April), there were
thousands of bugs fixed in the upstream that are coming out in next
release, therefore it doesn't make much sense to fix a bug that has
already been fixed :)

You just have to download the live-cd, put it in your system and see if
the problem still exists. I'll also check upstream and see what I find
about this bug. Until then this bug is incomplete because of lack of
information regarding its status in lucid.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 525155] Re: OpenGL renders extremely slowly with NVIDIA drivers

2010-02-26 Thread Anzenketh
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please attach your X server configuration file
(/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the
bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the
"Attachment:" box below. Could you please also try to run without any
/etc/X11/xorg.conf and let Xorg autodetect your display and video card?
When you do please also attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this
attempt. Thanks in advance.

Please try to obtain a valgrind log following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to the bug report.
This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

What Version of Ubuntu you are running.
lsb_release -rd

Please also Include in your next reply.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 516331] Re: Ice listener

2010-02-26 Thread Bryce Harrington

@tdanhorn - thanks for providing that info, but we would like to see it from
the original reporter. We may want to send this bug report upstream, but
upstream has a hard and fast rule that logs from someone other than the
original reporter are not acceptable. The reason for that is that quite often
with X.org bug reports, two people may *think* they have the same issue based
on commonality of symptoms and/or hardware, but in truth they have separate
issues and mixing the report and the files can cause the developers some
confusion.

If this bug report seems not to be getting attention, I would encourage
you to file a new bug report with this data, and simply reference this
bug report in your bug description.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 500226] Re: Jmonkeyengine demo causes system to freeze

2010-02-26 Thread Bryce Harrington
What video driver is this freeze encountered with? Please attach your
Xorg.0.log and the output of lspci -vvnn which will answer this
question.

If you're using Intel graphics, a bunch of fixes have been posted to
that driver which might obviate this freeze. Please test against Lucid
Alpha-3 or newer, and if you can still reproduce it there we'll need to
have a batchbuffer dump. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze for directions on doing
this.

I'm not sure. While upgrading, something popped up saying that it had

After I upgraded, I was able to install the driver without any problem,
so I'm not really sure if this is really an issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 525155] Re: OpenGL renders extremely slowly with NVIDIA drivers

2010-02-26 Thread Delan Azabani
Using the 190.53 .run package driver with no xorg.conf:
1st reboot: corrupted visuals, screen shift
2nd reboot: works, but compiz fails because of no GLX extension

Using the 190.53 .run package driver with nvidia-xconfig:
1st reboot: works fine
2nd reboot: weird*
3rd reboot: works
4th reboot: works
5th reboot: weird*

Using the 190.53 from Jockey with Jockey's xorg.conf:
1st reboot: extreme slowness (as if CPU rendered)

Using the 190.53 from Jockey with no xorg.conf:
1st reboot: compiz doesn't work (Fatal: software rendering)

Using the 190.53 from Jockey with nvidia-xconfig:
1st reboot: extreme slowness (as if CPU rendered)

*weird:
1. screen is blank or says "Out of range"
2. it works after switching to tty1 and back to tty7
3. tty1..tty6 are all blank, no login prompt
4. shutdown actually logs out

As you can see, neither of the five combinations work properly.

Lucid alpha-3 yesterday. I tried alpha-3 (as a live boot) on 5 of my
computers today (including this one), and submitted Bug #528767

I haven't tried updating yet.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 495121] Re: Compiz crashes on unlocking screensaver

2010-02-26 Thread Luke J Militello
Now that this problem has been brought to the correct personnel, is it
possible to get some assistance with this? I have been plagued by this
ever since we got the bug fixed for the screensaver not starting by
itself after time out (#411350). If this will be or has been corrected
for Lucid it would be nice to know because I'll just upgrade the
necessary packages from the Lucid repositories. Thanks in advance!

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 267269] Re: system GUI turn upside down when visual effects changed from none to normal

2010-02-26 Thread BavarianPH
I am sure, that this is a config corruption, where none Intel drivers
interfere with normal graphics setup.

The below solution worked for some of us!

I usually delete any other video card drivers other than my own card.

*Purge* (which also deletes the config) all other xorg drivers except for
vesa and framebuffer.

Purge and reinstall the xorg Intel driver.

To be save purge compiz as well.

Then reboot and see if this worked.

VV More step to step info below VV :

Nvidia drivers & related software (nvidia configurators) (and perhaps other
video drivers)

change settings for Intel drivers. And so tell the xorg-intel (or ATI or
others)

driver the wrong info.

For all NONE-Nvidia PCs, easy to fix:

If you have "simple-ccsm" (Simple Compizconfig settings

manager) installed:

(if not install "ccsm" or "compizconfig-settings-manager")

1st right-click on your PC Desktop, use to select,

left-click on "Change Desktop Background".

Use again & select "Visual Effects" tab,

use key once again & select "None".

(Upside down & mirrored is difficult to read or select by

mouse. will indicate where you are in a menu).

The Desktop will right itself.

Then use "Synaptic Package Manager"

(or the Terminal, for those who know how) & purge

all Nvidia programs, refresh (apt-get update),

& it may be a good idea to reinstall your particular

Video card software which will set configuration

back to where it should have been. Then restart "compiz"

& select your level of Visual Effects. Problem solved!

Perhaps the Ubuntu Masters may build a fail-save,

so that wrong video info can not corrupt configs.

BavarianPH,

Ubuntu forever!

I assume this is intended behavior, and that apport isn't itself
actually crashing (contrary to my original post), but please let me know
if I should be logging an apport bug elsewhere.

2010-02-26 Thread Mike Sandman
I have the same bahvior. Both with nVidia and ATI cards. I do not
think it is related to a specific driver. I get this from the gdm login
as well as from the login to unlock screen after screen saver.

I have discovered it only happens with passwords longer that 8
characters. trying passwords of 9 and 10 in length, it consistently
fails exactly when i hit the 9th character. Passwords of eight
characters do not cause the behavior.

here are my specs.
