[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575584] Re: Lucid Lynx - Increasing monitor resolution results in invisible mouse pointer.
I'm also experiencing this problem in Compaq Deskpro Evo. The way i get the mouse pointer back is; Going to Applications >> Sound and Video >> Movie Player; from the mouse (Still Invisible). After Movie player is launched mouse pointer is exactly at the middle of the viewing pane (of Movie Player) even though we can't see it. Then just double-click to make it go full-screen. Now you should be able to see the mouse pointer. I stumbled upon this when i was experimenting to get back the mouse pointer. Although this is not a perfect solution, as in every time you log-in, you have to repeat the steps to get the mouse pointer back. -- Lucid Lynx - Increasing monitor resolution results in invisible mouse pointer. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575584 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Well I just reporting another freeze (two in a row! :( ). Both times I was not using my soundcard. I had been using an externel display, keyboard and mouse when this happened. I will also note that I am using a patched kernel from the above thread. I am using the kernel debs provided by #45 and #46. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555169] Re: [lucid] Keyboard and mouse freeze after grub, usb and PS/2 keyboard not working in X (after upgrade? bad-upgrade to lucid)
I issued bug #590966 but have now marked it as a duplicate of this one. I've been experiencing a lagging mouse and keybord for some time after getting to the login screen. This seems to have been solved by writing a new xorg.conf from the NVIDIA X server settings application and as such, I'm quite happy about things now. As a side note, though, I now see that the lag has "moved" from before login to after. By this I mean that when I've entered my password and enter has been pressed, there is a lag before there's any evidence of GNOME starting up. I'll be subscribing to this bug to see if anybody else are reporting similar symptoms. -- [lucid] Keyboard and mouse freeze after grub, usb and PS/2 keyboard not working in X (after upgrade? bad-upgrade to lucid) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555169 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-keyboard in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 592044] Re: Blank screen after upgrade and reboot [Ubuntu 10.10alpha1 ]
2.6.35.2-generic was updated today about 10am EST and this update did not solve the problem. I have a wishlist suggestion. I think that in very early alpha releases the /etc/default/grub should include a visible menu. So the default line should be: #GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=4 This would make life easier for the early alpha testers, since we all must change this line in the expectation we will have some kernel problems. -- Blank screen after upgrade and reboot [Ubuntu 10.10alpha1 ] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592044 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573957] Re: X server crashes randomly
I don't think it is a duplicate. I've never had the crash occur while browsing (though firefox is always open) and don't see a firefox core dump or anything like that. I have intel hardware, not ATI. However, I also cannot find a specific trigger, and it does look like it may be caused by erroneous handling of a null pointer. Uploading the full logfiles from each crash is kinda hopeless as they grow to be rather large. I collect several files after each crash to examine, and the folder of those files is about 700MiB per crash. Unfortunately, I cannot trigger the crash, so getting a full gdb backtrace is going to be difficult. Nice job! The proposed Xorg package works well and xfig (particularly drawing circle) does not cause any xserver crash using this upgrade. -- xserver crash (repeatable, triggered by drawing circle/ellipse e.g. in xfig) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/553647 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 371750] Re: Wine d3d9 test causes unhandled exception
The crash does indeed still occur with Lucid. I have attached an updated backtrace with the latest Wine git. I added the -dbg package for the graphics drivers too but they don't seem to have made any difference. ** Attachment added: "wine-1.2-rc2-251-ge533ec4 console output" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/50058197/d3d9_test.log ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Running the d3d9 tests from the current git Wine (wine-1.1.20-185-g2d8f252) causes an unhandled exception. From #winehq: KenSharp: Anyway, looks like you're in Mesa3D software rendering, and it and Wine are not getting along. Is that intentional? i'm using whatever comes with Ubuntu 8.10 for the ATI Radeon 5900. fglrx simply doesn't work so I don't use it Neat. You probably want to install libgl1-mesa-dri (or something like that). I'd blame a bug in mesa's software rasteriser for crashing when compiling a GLSL program. fair enough libgl1-mesa-dri is installed Well, then I stand by my suggestion that it's mesa crashing, and it shouldn't be. What's xdriinfo say, BTW? There's Wine debug channels that'll dump the shaders being produced, that would let you see what the GLSL being fed to Mesa looks like, and then you could chase it up with Mesa developers, or even write yourself a test harness if you're up to it. i have no programming skills unfortunately. my days ended with BASIC Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":20.0". Screen 0: not direct rendering capable. that's not good! If you are aware of Wine, you will be aware that there are many debug channels available, but I do not know enough about this kind of error to know what further information would be useful (including which package is causing the problem). Graphics card is an ATI Radeon 5900. I am not running fglrx.
