[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 475429] Re: [i945] X Freezes when compiz enabled
According to a comment on the upstream bug report, this bug is probably fixed in intel's Q2 release (http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2010Q2.html). Maverick doesn't have libdrm 2.4.21 yet, but should otherwise be up to date. Also, Lucid with xorg-edgers and a new mainline build of the kernel (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds) should contain all the updates. -- [i945] X Freezes when compiz enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/475429 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 377929] Re: Unable to set rotation on AMD Geode LX800
Hi, all To repeatedly cycle test, I have written a shell-script to test the rotate. Now it can properly rotate in Xserver 1.8 (Need add my gamma correction patch). Because I have some confuse on memorysize, so I need some time to research and consider whether this approach is correct. I can not explain too specific. But it can solve the urgent rotate issue in temporary. Any other latest update, I will inform. I suggest you use: Rotate left: xrandr --output OUTPUT --rotate left Rotate right:xrandr --output OUTPUT --rotate right Rotate inverted: xrandr --output OUTPUT --rotate inverted Rotate normal:xrandr --output OUTPUT --rotate normal where OUTPUT would be replaced by one of the outputs shown when you run `xrandr' without any options. You can use "xrandr -q" to know your OUTPUT name. BTW: The Xrandr Guide: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Xorg_RandR_1.2#Note_for_Ubuntu_Gutsy_users The `-o' options is a RandR 1.0/1.1 command and may exercise a different driver code path from the RandR 1.2 `--rotate' option. RandR 1.2 introduced per-output rotation which wasn't available in earlier versions. Consequently, `xrandr -o' is equivalent to rotating the entire desktop (composed of all the outputs) rather than just a specific output. Depending on the Geode driver's support for multiple outputs and which outputs are connected, using `xrandr -o' could confuse the driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 192508] Re: mouse keys turns on randomly
Ah, a comment in that thread is the key to this, I think - shift numlock is the hotkey that turns the "feature" on and off. I bet that I've been hitting that shortcut accidentally. Since it's such a "destructive" shortcut (i.e. it wrecks the number pad's function) could this bug be resolved by popping up an obvious-but-automatically-disappearing alert when the shortcut is selected? And, could we have an option in the settings dialog for mousekeys to permanently disable the shortcut? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538346] Re: Display manager in Ubuntu 9.10 not working with dual displays properly
Hi Simon, I'm sorry for these other issues, I guess they're dual-monitor related. /This/ particular bug is resolved, though, so if we want to pursue reports for these other bugs we'll have to find new reports. As far as the mosaic issue while booting, is this in the "extra space" around the screen with the larger resolution? When I boot with two monitors, the screen with the bigger resolution gets a cropped image with some random junk in the "blank" area. Sounds similar to you. I couldn't find a bug report on that, so if you want to submit your own (ubuntu-bug xorg), I'll confirm it for you. The shutdown issue was probably unrelated to the video driver, and the "Unknown Program" issue is almost definitely unrelated to the crash after you were able to logout. If you can reproduce either one, please do submit a report about it. Based on what you have told me, I don't think you have to worry about X crashes during a session. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 598301] [NEW] VGA screen output is cut off on nVidia Corporation C67 [GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M] [10de:0531] (rev a2)
Public bug reported: I would like to simply have my internal LCD and external CRT monitors to go into clone mode. A resolution that both the monitor and the computer can agree upon. By default, after having installed the nvidia-current binary driver, the fn-f4 (monitor toggle) sets the X desktop to a large size and then moving the mouse around shows what it around it. Going into nvidia settings, the panning is by default 1280x800 when I would like both monitors and the X desktop to be 1024x768. The nvidia-settings Basic/Advanced button allows you to change the panning to 1024x768, which is a workaround, but don't expect my mother to know how to do this. Once this is done, I can see most of my screen, although some is cut off (see screenshot). KMS stands for kernel mode-setting, a great new tech but which required changes in drivers. Anyway. It's only four lines of code so it could be considered for 10.04 LTS update as well if it truly fixes the problem for everyone: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video- ati/commit/?id=426114b4a99d37b394efe3336968bb0ab9b6e9ae -- xserver-xorg-video-ati 6.13.0-1ubuntu2 has disabled my working XV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562537 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 598167] [NEW] Second video card stops working when audio card is installed.
Public bug reported: I have dual Nvidia Quadro FX4800 PCIe cards installed. They both work perfectly until I install the AudioScience ASI5640 PCIe audio card. Once I install the AudioScience audio card, the second video card drops offline, but the audio card works great. If I run "lspci | grep VGA" at the command prompt, I see the second video card on the PCI buss. But, when I run "nvidia-settings" the second graphics card does not show up. I blacklisted the Alsa "snd-asihpi" driver as well as the vendor supplied "asihpi" AudioScience driver. Added both of the following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf blacklist asihpi blacklist snd-asihpi Upon reboot, both video cards were working well. Then I manually loaded the driver using "sudo modprobe snd-asihpi". Audio played after this as well. I then commented out the "snd-asihpi" driver from blacklist.conf and rebooted so that the "snd-asihpi" driver would load upon reboot. Audio played upon reboot but the second video card again stopped working again. Blacklisting both asihpi and snd-asihpi and manually loading the Alsa driver using "sudo modprobe snd-asihpi" cures the problem. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Second video card stops working when audio card is installed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 548886] Re: KDE won't start with fglrx drivers in Lucid
Running Kubuntu Karmoc I upgraded using the KDE package update to Lucid on x64 (quadcore), Raedon HD3300 on board video. I got the usual no X then removed ATI drovers and it workled OK on the open drovers then I installed catalyst 10-6 and at first it worked OK but the next time I booted it stalled at the login window. Now entering uname and passwd it tried to load kde but fails and reverts to login etc etc etc. I have tried with all ATI Catalyst drivers removed and tried with deb package fglrx-xorg and with all fglrx deb pacakages and ATI drivers removed but cannot get KDE to load. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 571638] Re: Keyboard does not work when touchpad disable button pressed
Please read all of the replies and you will find the temporary solution. This one seems to work for me, but you shouldn't touch your on/off button otherwise this will mess it up your mouse/keyboard functionality. Run the terminal and paste this: gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true Then reboot your laptop. After start-up your touch-pad should work as it should. To undo it when permanent solution will come up just paste: gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled false -- Keyboard does not work when touchpad disable button pressed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571638 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597999] [NEW] xorg freezes except for mouse
Public bug reported: I'm filing this separately from bug #537080, since the comments there indicate the problem goes away with the nvidia drivers. This is not the case for me. Also, my Xorg.log has a callstack at the end. When using my computer, occasionally X will freeze apart from the mouse, using 100% CPU. It can happen whatever I'm doing, but most often while using thunderbird. I usually hit this problem once or twice a day, but so far I haven't been able to reproduce it on demand. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 441653] Re: xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call
The same bug here - Toshiba Satellite T130-14T (intel g4500) and Kubuntu 10.04 64 bit. With a chance of 1 out 5, notebook will stop booting right before kdm start. Usual splash screen is just shown (kubuntu with 5 stars). Ctrl-alt-del or power button function normally, so it is possible to switch off/on on reboot and to get to the desktop. -- xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/441653 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 589940] Re: [arrandale] maverick alpha 1 live doesn't display desktop
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Image maverick-desktop-i386.iso, md5sum d3d2cce04cd8fc4a75138f93cd1bf3e3 I made a USB key and booted an HP Elitebook 8440p model WH255UT#ABA. (Chipset: Mobile Intel QM57 Express, graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD.) I selected "Try Kubuntu without installing". The screen flashed repeatedly, then showed a blinking underscore cursor, then turned black. After some seconds I heard the KDE start-up sound, but the screen stayed black. Ctrl-Alt-F1 did nthing. With "splash" removed from the boot options, the result was the same. - With "nomodeset" selected, the screen showed the "Ubuntu" boot screen, then flashed and went black. No sound played, and odd colors slowly faded in. - With "nomodeset" and no "splash", the screen showed boot messages, went black, and faded in odd colors. No sound played. In short, this is just like Lucid bug 557744. - --- + --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory GdmLog2: Error: command ['gksu', '-D', 'Apport', '--', 'cat', '/var/log/gdm/:0.log.2'] failed with exit code 1: cat: /var/log/gdm/:0.log.2: No such file or directory LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Alpha i386 (20100616) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8440p Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.11.0-1ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: i386 PccardctlIdent: - Socket 0: -product info: "RICOH", "Bay8Controller", "", "" -manfid: 0x, 0x -function: 254 (unknown) + Socket 0: + product info: "RICOH", "Bay8Controller", "", "" + manfid: 0x, 0x + function: 254 (unknown) PccardctlStatus: - Socket 0: -3.3V 16-bit PC Card -Subdevice 0 (function 0) bound to driver "pata_pcmcia" + Socket 0: + 3.3V 16-bit PC Card + Subdevice 0 (function 0) bound to driver "pata_pcmcia" ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/casper/vmlinuz file=/cdrom/preseed/hostname.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz -- nomodeset ProcEnviron: - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-2.3-generic 2.6.35-rc2 Tags: maverick maverick Uname: Linux 2.6.35-2-generic i686 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare dmi.bios.date: 12/22/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68CCU Ver.
