[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650526] Re: [arrandale] GPU lockup 488c32be

2010-09-28 Thread michael o'sullivan
I've found adding a line to xorg.conf to set a virtual desktop space to
encompass a 1024x768 and 1440x900 monitor in an effort to cope with bug
#635827 prevents the xserver from starting. If you comment out lines
beginning with Virtual in the "Display" subsections, will X start for
you? (though this will not give you continuous dual monitors)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433142] Re: geode driver do not display 1024x600 on (K)UNR Karmic

2010-09-28 Thread phpmonkey
Hi Frank,

As I mentioned, I have no problem getting a 1024x600 resolution with a
custom xorg.conf (which I have supplied previously, it's in the
attachments section).

I believe we are trying to see whether it is possible to have this ratio
available by default (without an xorg.conf file).

Cheers,
Jenny (phpmonkey)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 612312] Re: System Freeze at Startup on Eee Pc 1001HA

2010-09-28 Thread Gary M
Joshua, if you think it may have something to do with the RT3090 driver
from Marcus, try uninstalling it and instead use the rt3090 staging
driver built in to the Lucid kernel. You'll need to run a command first
to create an empty missing config file -- see comments near the top of
bug #541620.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 631130] Re: In all apps, slow UI since 10.04 install

2010-09-28 Thread intrader
I have done the following:
On a new partition I installed OpenSolaris - runs very well with the same
firefox windows and tabs

On a new partition I installed ubuntu 10.10 beta - seems to run, but I
noticed some artifacts in a web page that should not be there

I am testing 10.10 beta with the problems reported for 10.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650770] [NEW] nvidia 6150 display failure

2010-09-28 Thread Glen Ditchfield
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

Mythbuntu, Maverick Live CD 20100928.

I booted from the live CD. The purple "Mythbuntu" screen showed itself
properly for a few seconds. Then the (plymouth?) Mythbuntu-with-dots
loading screen appeared, but it was rolling vertically. When that
finished, the "choose your language" screen appeared, also rolling. I
switched to a console via ctrl-alt-f1, and it also rolled.

The computer has an nVidia 6150 integrated video chip. Normally it runs
Kubuntu Hardy Heron using the proprietary nVidia drivers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650748] [NEW] fglrx has problems with openGL in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)

2010-09-28 Thread Fsolda
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fglrx

The fglrx driver is not properly running with applications which use
OpenGL, such as Blender, Cairo-Dock or Google Earth, as well as some
games. These applications sometimes appear to be blurred or blinking.
This is a bug which doesn't happen with the opensource driver, but the
opensource driver cannot be used instead in all these applications. I
tried to change every possible configuration in the ATI Catalyst Control
Center, without success.

My video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650695] [NEW] won't display two on two monitors correctly

2010-09-28 Thread Paul La Plante
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I am currently running 10.10 beta, and when I choose to display on two
mointors, without mirroring the display, the display disappears on one
monitor and only fills part of the other screen, with no taskbar on top
or bottom. If I use only one display, or mirror displays, then it
behaves as expected.

2010-09-28 Thread Bohdan Melekh
My computer OS is 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04

There were problems with ATI card...

After fglrx update my ATI card works OK!

Previously I have corrected code correspondingly to instructions,
ATI card was working OK but without visual effects, and also every time
during computer rebooting,
I was selecting X server restart. There was also problem with view of video
from my webcam in Skype.

But after fglrx renovation using Update Manager, all works OK.

Many thanks,

Bohdan

2010-09-28 Thread Elias Julkunen
Good news!

Today I noticed that Cairo-Dock works. First I guessed that's because I
installed the newest mainline kernel (2.6.36-rc5), but actually it works
with the latest maverick kernel, too.

guisardo, could test if Cairo-Dock works for you as well with latest
updates? Anyway, strange bug.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

Few days ago I did a fresh install of 10.04 on my laptop Aspire 8530 and I
experienced similar problems occurred with Ubuntu 9.10, while using the
touch-pad.
As a matter of fact my touch-pad is frequently, not always, jumping around
like crazy, opening windows, applications ... and it.s very hard to work in
such a situation.
I checked for a fix on the web and I found that a strange behaviour of a
mouse/touch-pad crazy with OS Ubuntu has been reported several times, but none
could find a good solution.
The very strange thing to me is that the anomalous behaviour does not occur
always, it's a random phenomenon and I started thinking of a capricious
computer (with a soul?).
For example yesterday my touch-pad worked fine, but not now and I can't
replay the situation on request.
My laptop Acer Aspire 8530G has windows 7 installed by factory and Ubuntu
10.04 in a separated partition. I would like to use Ubuntu always and for this
it is essential to fix this bug.
