[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2012-01-24 Thread Nicolás Lichtmaier
In "precise" you can no longer use Sergio's package. So I've tried to
apply Sergio's patch to the newer driver... It didn't compile at
first... I tried to port it... I didn't understand a lot of what I was
doing, but I've just followed common sense... and it worked!

Here's a working deb for the newest unreleased Ubuntu (Precise).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64)

2012-01-24 Thread Martin Pool
Current Precise still has this bug. I also tried with the current drm-
intel-next kernel from and I had the same problem.

Bug 906086 is about a kernel oops when trying to use the external
display. I have not seen that recently, but the description from the
upstream suggests it may be intermittent (it's a use-after-free bug.)

Hmm, I thought perhaps you did not have it installed, which you do.
It is odd that X is selecting -vesa instead of -sis for your HW.

Why don't you go ahead and do a full system update and dist-upgrade. We
just uploaded a new X stack monday. The candidate -sis version is the
version that works with this new X stack.

I do not think that updating is going to fix the -sis problem, but you
never know.

After that, reboot a couple times and see if the problem still occurs.

@Daniel, we have automatic builds of several of the drm-* kernel trees.
Would any of these suffice for testing? Might be easier for Stephen
than having to hand-compile his own kernel.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921311] Re: no way to specify the primary display with unity

2012-01-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
Not actually an X bug...

Run the Display configuration tool. You should be able to drag the
toolbar image to the screen you wish to be primary.

Feel free to reopen if you find it doesn't do what you expect.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921313] Re: closing laptop lid while connected to an external display does not disable the laptop screen

2012-01-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Craig,

Please enable modesetting debugging - run 'sudo xdiagnose', it's the
first checkbox. Hit apply and let that rebuild grub, then restart your
system, reproduce the bug, and then collect 'sudo dmesg > dmesg.txt' and
attach that here.

Also, I notice this is a fresh install; did you have an earlier version
of Ubuntu installed previously? Did it show the same behavior, or is
this a regression?

+ [Original Report]
+ I was running several programs on unity desktop 5 on Ubuntu 12.04 (updated to
15.1.2012), also package installations.

There happends a automatically session logout , which I have not
  introduced, out of nothing.

I came back to the Ubuntu startslash for logging in automatically. A
login in a unity session brings a new session on.

The gnome-system-monitor is still showing the programs running from the
privious session, but I could not access them from my new logging in. So
the old session seems to be running anywhere and anyhow.

-
That's a very bad behaviour. I have not saved my work and no chance to enter
the running processes for that anymore, so dataloose is the consequence.
- As special add: Package installation has not finished it's work, or better: I
be not sure that it has done all installations with success.
+ As special add: Package installation has not finished it's work, or better: I
be not sure that it has done all installations with success.

Because I have had not made any updates/upgrades with this run I am
optimistic that a newstart of the system does not break boot abilities,
but think of this during an update/upgrade. -> The system may become
  broken.

I see this as critical bug.

Because of not knowing what happens exactly I have filed this against
unity v5 with apport call, so you have all logs which gathered by
  apport.

When you have the need for further logs or doings, tell me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921321] [NEW] nouveau: dark screen after suspend/resume

2012-01-24 Thread Jesse Brandeburg
Public bug reported:

Nouveau works fine with brightness controls working fine after initial
boot, but I do S3 suspend, and then resume via power button, and
brightness controls don't work at all, and backlight is on, but set at
extremely low level.

hardware is Quadro 770M on HP 8530w laptop

/sys/.../brightness control does nothing when in this state,
suspend resume cycles after this first cycle all have the same problem.

I'll test if a full hibernate has the issue or not after this and report
back.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921317] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2012-01-24 Thread Martin Albisetti
Public bug reported:

After the latest xorg updates, whenever I have an external monitor connected
everything freezes and I can't recover.
It doesn't matter if I boot up with both monitors or plug it in after log in,
as long as I'm logged in, as soon as I plug in the external monitor everything
will freeze.
Happens reproduceably.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 754000] Re: Running Unity disables Xorg's 3-finger click support (middle click)

2012-01-24 Thread bwat47
Are there any plans on some sort of fix for this? I'm really hoping
there's something workable by 12.04. I'd imagine ubuntu currently has
significantly more touchpad users than touchscreen users and they should
not have significant missing functionality missing, especially for an
LTS release.

Would some sort of option in CCSM be a possibility? Or automatic
detection of a touchpad that could enable this? Seems a bit odd that as
mentioned above disabling the offending plugin still doesn't seem help
things. Disabling the plugin isn't something I can test though, as a
separate bug in the synaptics driver (mentioned above I believe) is also
causing trouble with 3 finger taps without unity.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 912381] Re: Error "ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode" directly after installation

2012-01-24 Thread Bryce Harrington
fitoschido, Atom systems are using the poulsbo driver, which can end up
with this same error but for an entirely different, unrelated reason.

Looking at the jockey log, this does appear to be a jockey-specific
issue, probably something with the nvidia kernel module failing to
build, but nvidia in xorg.conf causing the system to not try anything
but nouveau. The xorg.conf should be more or less unnecessary these
days so deleting just that *might* be a sufficient work around. But
clean reinstall is not a bad idea either.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921139] [NEW] mouse scroll left<->right inverted since 1:7.6+10ubuntu1

2012-01-24 Thread Sandra Karuving
Public bug reported:

with latest upgrade from xorg. my mousewheel for scrolling left - right
is now inverted. scrolling up and down is normal as is should be. thats
a very bad behavior because 1. my mouse isnt a touchscreen 2. if i
scroll to left the picture scrolls to the right but if i scroll up the
picture scrolls up 3. some inputactions i used for left and
rightscrolling are now completely useless "open the next picture" is now
"go to the last picture".

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 919321] Re: System freezes while watching a streaming video [xubuntu]

2012-01-24 Thread nakki
Happened again watching a youtube 720p video...
In a moment the screen was black and the audio goes in a little and repetitive
loop. After a while the image came again then blank, audio came back and
relooped a piece of it. For few minutes this was the situation, then I pushed
the power button a couple of times and slowly the system went down. This time i
had no compiz activated.
I attached the full log of the session.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921094] [NEW] Mouse clicks impossible in central region of screen

2012-01-24 Thread Matt Price
Public bug reported:

I'm running into a problem on Oneiric with my THikpad T410, in which it
becomes impossible to click in a certain region of the screen -- fairly
central both verticlaly and horizontel. two-finger mouse scrolling also
fials to work, indictaing that there's some general mouse button
override coming into play. I notice it most frequently in firefox and
chrome, but once it's happened I can verify that it also is occurring
e.g. in emacs. This behavious starts somewhat unpredictably but doesn't
seem to halt even on e.g. resume from sleep.

Clicking is impossible with both the upper (trackpoint) and lower
(trackpad) buttons on my laptop, which are associated with different
pointing devices, so I don't think this is a hardware or driver problem,
but of course I can't be sure.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921082] [NEW] after touchpad movement and stop, pointer continues in same direction at a steady pace

2012-01-24 Thread Jeroen Roovers
Public bug reported:

Steps:

1) Move the pointer using the touchpad (ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad).
2) Stop moving your fingers on the touchpad, but don't "release" it.
3) Observe the pointer continue in the same direction at a few dozen pixels
per second.

This is no fun while trying to select text. Also, when scrolling using
two fingers (dragging both in the same direction) this problem does not
occur.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590180] Re: 5.1 sound does not work with HDMI audio. There is only option for stereo.

2012-01-24 Thread Artur Rona
I have similiar issue. I use TV as a 2nd video output - connected by
HDMI. Sound should be played, but it doesn't work. On Windows sound
works with official nvidia drivers.

Already I got Ubuntu 12.04, but this problem I've got since I use TV -
it was Ubuntu 9.04.

About this bug - I think that HDMI-sound option is not necessary. TV
should plays sound normally.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 920936] [NEW] SiS 65x/M650/740 works strangely on high resolution

2012-01-24 Thread Arie Skliarouk
Public bug reported:

SiS 65x/M650/740 VGA adapter works strangely on high resolution.

The 1680x1050 LCD monitor is connected using DVI cable. It works properly on
1280x960 resolution.
If I choose 1680x1050, weird things happen:
 * mouse pointer disappears at certain screen areas and becomes visible on
other ones
 * The mouse pointer can not reach the most topmost pixels and stops in 5 mm
from there. Somehow clicks works properly even if the mouse pointer appears not
to be there

This is on ubuntu oneiric 11.10 i386.
# dpkg -l | grep xserver-xorg-video-sis
ii xserver-xorg-video-sis 1:0.10.3-3
   X.Org X server -- SiS display driver

The card is allocated 32MB of memory (from the BIOS).

Attached to the bug the /var/log/Xorg.log.0 file.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 918495] Re: Unity hangs when power brick is disconnected
