[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 931596] Re: Scrambled text when scrolling horizontal
Jesusfreak, by using the proprietary, closed-source fglrx driver, fixes for bugs in this driver are limited to that provided by AMD. Despite this, please answer the following questions: 1) Could you please execute the following at the Terminal and post the results to this bug: sudo lshw -C video 2) Does this issue occur with the newer version of the fglrx driver? One may test this via a Precise Live CD environment from: http://xubuntu.org/news/precisealpha2/ . 3) Does this issue occur with the open source ATI/Radeon driver? So you don't have to reconfigure your drivers, you may want to test this in an Oneiric Live CD environment from: http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/ . However, if you want to test this via your current install, please see: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver . ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931596 Title: Scrambled text when scrolling horizontal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/931596/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 830949] Re: [Intel N10 Graphics] Need Compiz' "Copy to Texture" plugin so can display on multi-head layouts bigger than the max GL texture size
I have tested with a Dell mini 9 hooked on an external 1600x1200 monitor. The display resolution of the dell mini 9 is 1204x600 When I use the gnome display setting and I try to set a configuration that is not supported (size is too high), I am being warned to choose a lower resolution for the external monitor. For a system, like the Dell mini 9, this works fine as I can't expect such a system to have the resources to drive Unity on an external monitor with 1600x1200 resolution. I then used xrandr to configure the displays. With xrandr i got similar results as mentioned in #33. I could get Unity to work with xrandr provided the external display resolution isn't too high. Xrandr worked fine for an external resolution of 1024x768. For an external resolution of 1152x864, the rendering of the display was very slow, which suggest a software mode. Note that gnome display setting prevent me from setting an external resolution of 1152x864. >From a user perspective, the preferred display configuration tool is the gnome display setting. From my experience, it produces the expected results. As for using xrandr directly and activating the "Copy to Texture" plugin in Compiz, this solution cannot work with Unity for external resolution that are too high. As state in #32, it would only work fine with standalone Compiz. Unity has no support for the "Copy to Texture" plugin and cannot be expected to work. I think the "Copy to Texture" plugin should be deactivated and users should use the gnome display setting as there preferred display setting tool. Xrandr, does the job of configuring the display resolution. But without any knowledge of the desktop environment memory requirements it cannot check the ability of the system to support a certain resolution. Yet, it is very useful tool as a low level display configuration utility. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/830949 Title: [Intel N10 Graphics] Need Compiz' "Copy to Texture" plugin so can display on multi-head layouts bigger than the max GL texture size To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/830949/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 887756] Re: Black screen on boot with sandy bridge processor
Update: I installed the 3.2.0 Kernel and now the proprietary graphics work. Apparently the bug in the Sandybridge Kernel modules has been fixed as of 3.2. I can boot without the nomodeset, etc., and the graphics show as "Intel Sandybridge Desktop". Unfortunately, I still can't run Compiz, so I'm still stuck with Unity 2d. If I try to run 3d I get to the desktop, but the panel, launcher, desktop icons, etc. never load, and there's very little functionality. There is (apparently -- according to a number of forums) an incompatibility between Sandybridge and Compiz. There's talk of workarounds involving installing xorg- edgers and removing some modules that Compiz currently blacklists (Compiz blacklists a number of Sandybridge modules), but I haven't tried that yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887756 Title: Black screen on boot with sandy bridge processor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/887756/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 929943] Re: x11-common package fails update to 1:7.5+6ubuntu3.1
Not sure why I missed this to start with. The error message really explains the problem. $ which head $ which tail /usr/bin/tail I turns out that both the head command and the tail command are part of "coreutils". See the man pages... So, I fired up the Synaptic Package Manager, searched for coreutils, selected the "Mark for Reinstallation" and then applied that change. $ which head /usr/bin/head Sure enough, I fired up the Update Manager and installed all the changes. This time x11-common was successfully upgraded. Still not quite sure where the original "/usr/bin/head" command/program went. I did a couple quick reverse searches in my bash history, but did not find anything suspect. Just odd. So now I need to see if I can get this bug closed in launchpad. Thanks Ubuntu and Launchpad! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 891295] Re: Key repeat is disabled intermittently
Just found a note on VMware's website that the problem is relating to VMware Workstation and users have to upgrade to VMware Workstation 8.0.2 (see release notes http://www.vmware.com/support/ws80/doc/releasenotes_workstation_802.html - section Resolved Issues - "In Ubuntu 11.10 hosts, key repeat was disabled after ungrabbing or quitting VMware Workstation"). Same problem for me on a Dell Latitude E6510 with Ubuntu 11.10 with VMware Workstation 7.1.5 installed. Installing xorg-edgers/ppa on Precise (version 2:1.11.99.902+git20120130.052ca3f2-0ubuntu0sarvatt2) solves the issue. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: precise regression -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931397 Title: Xorg crashes with AutoAddDevices "false" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/931397/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 930745] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise()
I'd like to add some extra information. On that Thinkpad I don't have an integrated Bluetooth adapter which is the reason why I use a Delock Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR USB adapter. [1] [1]: http://www.delock.com/produkte/gruppen/bluetooth+produkte/Delock_Adapter_USB_20_Bluetooth_V21_+_EDR_61746.html ** Description changed: To be honest I have no idea what exactly might have caused this crash. I've bought an Apple Magic Trackpad and have been using it for about two hours when suddenly everything froze. After a couple of seconds the login screen appeared. Steps to reproduce: - unknown + 1. Touch the Magic Trackpad with three or more fingers + 2. Click on the Bluetooth indicator + 3. In the "Apple Wireless Trackpad" submenu select "Disconnect" + + I can reproduce that behavior every time using the steps above. If I can help or add more information somehow just tell me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661248] Re: PCI Race Condition with COMPAL FL90
Unfortunately blackthunder's method is not working for me (IFL90) Recently I've tried two distros (namely ARCH and Fedora) and BOTH have the same problem as Ubuntu. Therefore problems seems to be in kernel itself I've managed to dig out that compal and other VBI have graphic card BIOS (vbios) saved on mainboard instead of card itself. It would explain why some 8600M works while others don't. Source: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=110138 The same post gives some interesting ideas which I'll try soon... best bet is "pci=bios" in grub kernel invoke -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661248 Title: PCI Race Condition with COMPAL FL90 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/system76/+bug/661248/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
