We don't have access to either DRI2InfoRec::version or DRI2HasSwapControl both of which are used on server side, without them I actually don't know how Jesse, you and Kristian envisioned it to be tested for on this side. So the big question is: how did you want it to be tested for? If I'm reading this correctly, it sounds like the server is advertising the extension when it possibly shouldn't. If that's correct, we should revert this patch from Mesa and apply some sort of fix in the xserver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver
Bryce, would love to try this but I'm a bit worried that this is a raring PPA with for example xserver-common 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu3 based package and my system (12.10) has 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1 installed. Warning bells in my head say upgrading could break my work computer. What do you think? Any chance of backporting the fix to quantal version? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982889 Title: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdrm/+bug/982889/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1136934] [NEW] CRTC Error 72 Message
Public bug reported: After my most recent update to ubuntu (earlier today), I booted up the system, which gave me an error message "Could not apply the stored configurations for monitors none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes: Trying modes for CRTC 72" then it tries each output mode for the display. This results in my minimum display settings displayed (800x600 I believe). I am now running in low resolution mode so the screen isn't shrunk, but I need a workaround or fix in the near future or I will need to change my OS. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1133490] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT
** Description changed: This bug has been haunting me for a couple of weeks now. It happens only sometimes when I interact with tabs in Firefox or Chrome/Chromium (all three tested, both stable and beta), about 3-5 times per day. What did I do before the crash: Interacting with tabs, creating new on, closing existing or clicking on active to change focus. What should happen: The browser should follow with the appropriate action, such as starting a new tab, closing the one I clicked on or changing focus to the one I clicked on. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1136699] Re: Intel Graphics instability/unreliability
The low graphics and VT boots sound like the drm race condition bug #982889. There is a workaround posted in comment #5, and I've coded what I think is a possible fix. The fix is in a PPA, but I'm waiting on someone to test it to verify it does fix it before I upload it. (I'm not 100% certain it will fix the issue for all cases, maybe just certain failure modes.) The crash in the photo might be an unrelated bug, since it occurs during regular system usage. (#982889 happens only at boot). I'm not seeing other reports about it though. Let's focus this bug report on that issue. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - Intel Graphics instability/unreliability + xserver crash n drm_vblank_count_and_time -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1136699 Title: xserver crash n drm_vblank_count_and_time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1136699/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982889] Re: X trying to start before plymouth has finished using the drm driver
I need someone to install the xserver from this ppa, and verify it fixes the issue: https://launchpad.net/~bryce/+archive/lp982889 All the Xorg.0.log files posted since I mentioned this PPA are from the stock xserver (or older). What we need is an Xorg.0.log from a session with this PPA installed (and rebooted). What I expect to see in the log is something like: ... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1136575] [NEW] Mistake in "10_proprietary-graphics-drivers" file prevents splash from showing on boot
Public bug reported: Splash screen (plymouth) stopped showing during boot after installing nvidia-current-updates driver package in Ubuntu 12.10 (fresh install). In grub console (the one activated by pressing "c" in grub menu) I have managed to find out, that the $linux_gfx_mode environmental variable is set to "text" and I thought that it might be the cause. I have traced this through several files of grub2 script structure: /boot/grub.cfg -> /etc/grub.d/10_linux -> /boot/grub/gfxblcklist.txt -> /usr/share/grub-gfxpayload-lists/blacklist/10_proprietary-graphics-drivers (which is a symbolic link to /etc/alternatives/i386-linux-gnu_grub_fb_blacklist) I believe that this last file belongs to this package (at least this package is mentioned in this file), which is why I am reporting this bug here. The last two lines of this file say something like: #Example: blacklist all NVIDIA graphics cards v10ded.*sv.*sd.*bc03sc.* I think that the last line should be commented, since it is only meant to be an example. Doing this, and running update-grub-gfxpayload and then update-grub solves the problem for me. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1136575 Title: Mistake in "10_proprietary-graphics-drivers" file prevents splash from showing on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates/+bug/1136575/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1132986] [NEW] Elantech Touchpad is unresponsive, jerky, and doesn't respond at all to clicks.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I recently installed the latest version of Ubuntu 12.10 on to my new Samsung RV515 laptop, (used to be) running Windows 7, which uses Elantech Touchpad. Before I installed Ubuntu I disabled Elantech and used the Synaptics driver for the touchpad because I was already having problems with the extras like two finger scrolling, zooming, ect (not that disabling Elantech solved anything in Windows as far as being able to finger scroll but it was working as a simple touchpad, responsive to clicks and movement). After installing Ubuntu (and wiping Windows completely) the touchpad is very, very, slow to respond and when it does it is jerky, inaccurate, and completely unresponsive to any clicks. Basically, I can move the pointer but it doesn't accomplish anything. When I navigate in Ubuntu by keyboard or a usb mouse to the devices' settings both a touchpad and mouse show up. I have tried to manipulate these settings but it has had no effect. I'm guessing that since the touchpad shows up as a device and that because I do get a little response from it that the driver is installed and is being recognized but not functioning properly? Maybe there is an earlier version of Ubuntu or Linux that does have full support for an Elantech or Synaptics touchpad? Patches I can install that will fix the touchpad? Any people with the same issue? I know there's a lot of related material out there relating to the issue of Ubuntu and Elantech touchpads but I have not been able to find anything that describes my situation close enough to be fix or helpful. All the threads I have found that may help me out are too far above my head for me to understand (I don't know how to complile Kernels and whatnot and am still pretty new with terminal commands). If you need any further information to diagnose this problem feel free to comment or email me at no.gl...@gmail.com. I appreciate any feedback offered. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1135668] [NEW] Intel graphics fails when bringing monitor out of sleep
Public bug reported: I have a HP LP2475w monitor. Sometimes when the system has put it to sleep, it fails in bringing it back up again. The screen remains blank. Even changing virtual terminals with ctrl+alt+f1 does not work. Ssh'ing in and running 'sudo service lightdm restart' makes it come back up again. This error shows up in dmesg: [18380.721810] [drm:drm_edid_block_valid] *ERROR* EDID checksum is invalid, remainder is 125 This monitor worked flawlessly on my previous computer which had NVidia + the binary driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1135403] Re: xserver-xorg-video-intel regression (Intel 945GM) [xorg-edgers]
> Grey tones now all render in pink, see attached screenshot. That would appear to be a result of me playing with reducing the DefaultDepth to 16 on these bandwidth constrained devices. Hmm, if used a default depth of 15 that should prevent that discoloration. (It's been a useful exercise but I think there are too many bugs in the upper layers of the rendering stack for us to make the switch by default.) >Upon login display no longer remains full screen. Display appears as static image in centre of screen rather than as full screen with working login animation. This maybe unexpected. You have both a LVDS and DVI connected. So it is picking a mode common to both (1280x800) and cloning the desktop across. That will result in only the centre portion of the DVI output being used (if the monitor itself does not autoscale). I'm guessing this a bug in the display manager since monitors.xml says not to clone and to use native modes... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1135403 Title: xserver-xorg-video-intel regression (Intel 945GM) [xorg-edgers] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1135403/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1135620] Re: System boots in text mode and X doesn't start
The attached Apport data was collected in a session activated by rebooting from a session in which the issue occurred. ** Description changed: At times the system boots in text mode, with the text "[OK]" (and occasionally some graphics gargabe in an area the size of a few text characters) on the screen, and X doesn't start. Once, I happened to hear the drums sound played by the Unity login screen after boot. I am able to get a shell with Ctrl+Alt+Fn. I experienced the issue with the kernel version recorded by Apport for this bug, as well as earlier versions. When it happens, I am able to get a fully working system, with X and Unity running fine, by just rebooting. My PC has an Intel Core i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz × 4 with 8GB of RAM, a 450GB hard disk, and an Nvidia Quadro 400 graphics card.
