[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105]

2014-11-02 Thread Bigwoof1234
posted this on the ubuntu launchpad.

tried the patch by Alexander. It works.

trying the patch by Sean now (reverted the previous patch). so far so
good.

using the xfce4-settings-4.11.2 code base b.t.w.

my setup is a ubuntu trusty machine using latest nVidia drivers
(337.25-0ubuntu1~xedgers14.04.2) connected via HDMI to an Onkyo receiver
which is then connected to an Epson projector.

I used to lose the signal when I turned off the receiver. but so far so
good with both patches

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105]

2014-11-02 Thread Sean Davis
Created attachment 5723
HDMI and Screen On Event Patch

I think I figured out the failure in the logic. You are right, since we
are clearing the caches in that particular function, it makes sense to
make sure they are truly freed.

The above fix uncovered another issue with the order of events when the
"Configure new displays when connected" feature is enabled. I found that
we are clearing our caches in the middle of the screen event (thats the
leftover reference you found). I reordered the code for that function,
and now I think I should have a fully functional patch.

Please try the attached patch and let me know if the issue is still
resolved for you.

i had to

sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core libgl1-mesa-glx:i386
libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:amd64 libgl1-mesa-dri:amd64
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo reboot

before:
OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 256 bits)

now it works again:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1388612] [NEW] [GM965] GPU lockup running OpenGL applications on Dell Vostro 1510

2014-11-02 Thread Andrea Bini
Public bug reported:

Hello, I'm suffering a GPU lockup problem with Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit on a
Dell Vostro 1510 laptop with Intel graphics. The problem used to arise
also with Ubuntu 14.04 and is always reproducible with glmark2 on the
LiveCD. Just to run the "ideas" benchmark of glmark2 to trigger the
lockup in few seconds (glmark2 -b ideas). Other OpenGL applications also
causes the lockup (e.g. FooBillard++, my self-made SDL applications).
Memory test passed, BIOS at the latest version. Don't know if the
following is a good point but I think that the problem is not caused by
a failing hardware because it works fine on Windows. I tried with the
latest Intel upstream kernel (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next/current/) and upstream X.org
(https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa), no change.

[Personal Notes]
I'm new to Ubuntu's world, I hope I've done things right, if not please tell me
and I will resend the report or supply more information. I've created the bug
report with "ubuntu-bug xorg --save" from another machine via SSH while the
sick machine was frozen. It seemed to me more logical than using ubuntu-bug
directly when the system is working fine. I've collected other information via
SSH during the same lockup: dmesg, Xorg.0.log, i915_error_state. The latter was
added as attachment.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273652] Re: "apply" of multi-monitor setting results in crash

2014-11-02 Thread Roberto González Correa
I have a similar issue with Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bits) and Nvidia driver 304.117
(please, refer to Bug #1388430 for details).
I spoke to Nvidia Customer Care support and they are requesting me to install
another driver version (304.123) from Nvidia web site. Unfortunately,
installation instructions are hard for me to follow, so I would need some help
in order to test this driver version and give the technicians a proper
feedback. If someone thinks that this could help to solve the issue, please
feel free to e-mail me and I'll do my best to colaborate.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1388557] [NEW] Ubuntu freezes randomly

2014-11-02 Thread Henri Seppänen
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu screen freezes randomly. It seems that only screen freeze, but
system behind continue to work, including mouse. Using ctrl + alt + F1
and ctrl + alt + F7 resolves problem.

Freeze happen also if I use other than xorg driver. I tried all
available nvidia driver configurations.

I don't find relation between low or high cpu load.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1388530] [NEW] 14.10 freezes during shutdown on MSI GE60 with Nvidia Geforce GTX 765M

2014-11-02 Thread jean-christophe manciot
Public bug reported:

I know someone who "solved" this issue by installing a Nvidia driver.
Do you test your Nouveau driver on MSI computers and computers with Nvidia
graphics card before rolling out new releases?
This is not the first time I'm experiencing a significant flaw with this driver.

More information about the issue can be found here:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1271281]

2014-11-02 Thread Peter Hutterer
yeah, it's an issue that affects any clickpad, and it's caused by
synaptics still primarily handling touchpads as single-touch devices. a
few additions allowed for some MT stuff, but the driver needs
significant changes to be true multitouch capable - and that's out of
scope.

Changing bug title to drop the device specifics.
