Hi Christopher,

This is the output:

Also this morning when trying to access the computer the login screen
had the login box with no text input available. I had to reboot the
machine completely.

Thanks again for the support.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1417320] Re: Screen turns black (only mouse cursor left) when rotating screen

2015-03-04 Thread xiota
Rotating the screen with xrandr also gives me a black screen with
working mouse cursor.

The problem goes away when I set AccelMethod to UXA (the default is
SNA), which I did by creating a file
"/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf" with the following contents:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

2015-03-04 Thread kary
This Bug #1409190 is about nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 and
nvidia-graphics-drivers-331-updates .
The Bug #1427924 is about nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 and ubuntu-drivers-common
autopkgtests.
The nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 parts are duplicates of each other and a fix
was released through Bug #1427924.
I have no knowledge of the status of the nvidia-graphics-drivers-331-updates
part.

This bug was fixed in the package nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 -

Hi Christopher,
I will try to test the bug using the latest development release, however it
could take a while as I'm traveling and since it's a suspend/resume issue I
don't think it's possible to reproduce it using an USB drive (my computer
doesn't have a DVD Drive) so I need to install it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1428184] Re: Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Eduardo Rudas, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. , Could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1428184

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1324113] Re: Screen goes black or flashes with Dual Monitors when certain apps are opened.

2015-03-04 Thread Pablo180
Sorry it took so long but I had to reinstall due to an unrelated
problem. The reinstall didn't make any difference to this problem
though. I also tested Windows 8 with dual screens, just to rule out the
monitor(s) and it worked fine in Windows 8.

I tried the daily image on a Live USB and that worked fine too, no
problem at all even when opening and running programs that always seemed
to cause this problem, i.e. System Settings, Totem Video Player et al.
Dual monitors worked flawlessly. I will try and free up some disk space
and install the live image onto a disk and test it that way too just to
be sure.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1428184] [NEW] Invisible mouse pointer after resume from suspend

2015-03-04 Thread Eduardo Rudas
Public bug reported:

I'm using a fresh install of Xubuntu 14.04 (Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2
LTS \ Release: 14.04) with latest updates on a Samsung NP305U1A-A05CO
laptop (AMD E450 with Radeon HD 6320 Graphics)

After the computer is suspended, either by closing the lid, choosing the
option on the menu or by itself after the defined time, and then when I
wake the computer the mouse pointer is invisible, however the hardware
itself is working as mouse position and clicks continue working, only
the pointer is invisible.

If I switch to a console with Alt+Shit+F1 and switch back to X with
Alt+Shift+F7 the mouse pointer appears and is back to normal.

After installing fglrx 14.50.2 proprietary AMD driver (doing the
modification explained in http://askubuntu.com/a/543836/378463 to avoid
ocl-icd-libopencl1/wine conflict) including the Catalyst Control Center,
the problem is resolved and now I can suspend and resume the computer
and the mouse pointer is visible after wake up as expected.

A similar bug has been reported here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1297144 affecting 21
people and I have been instructed to file a new bug report.

apt-cache policy pkgname output (in Portuguese):

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1411560] Re: Graphics performance degrades with time in 14.04

2015-03-04 Thread Roberto Sosa Cano
Hi Christopher,

It is happening again right now. I've tried to close Google Chrome in
case it was causing the issue, but it seems like something is broken.
Everytime I click on a window, or some graphic change happens at Unity
level the system becomes irresponsive for a few seconds. For bigger
things like closing or starting a program seems like it takes even more
time. Seems like allocation and disposal of resources is taking suddenly
more time than it should.

Kind regards,
Roberto

2015-03-04 Thread madbiologist

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1341387] Re: Opening foodnetwork.ca website crashes xserver

2015-03-04 Thread Sean Fitzpatrick
Thanks for the response. To be honest, I'd forgotten about this bug. It was so
weird/specific to begin with (only one website ever caused problems). The issue
also seems to have disappeared on upgrading to 14.10.
It never occurred to me to upgrade the BIOS - the utilities are always
Window-specific and I'd never gotten around to learning how to do it on Ubuntu
despite the fact I haven't run Windows since Ubuntu 7.10...

Since the issue doesn't occur on 14.10 shall I mark it as resolved?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1427924] Re: autopkgtest failures if nvidia dkms module fails to build

2015-03-04 Thread kary
I'm not sure, what this discussion is about. But as far as i know, you
could fix Nvidia drivers:

In bug Bug #1409190 I wrote:
ROOT CAUSE: In kernel headers, a feature that nvidia code depends on, has
been removed in kernel 3.19:

$ diff linux-headers-3.18.0-13/include/linux/fs.h
linux-headers-3.19.0-7/include/linux/fs.h | grep f_dentry
< #define f_dentry f_path.dentry

WORKAROUND: Make nvidia code live without that feature:

$ sudo sed -i~ s/f_dentry/f_path.dentry/
/usr/src/nvidia-304-304.125/nv.c
$ apt list --installed 'linux*' | cut -d / -f 1 | grep 3.19 | xargs
sudo apt install --reinstall

But if you are after a set of tests, that don't get bugged about failing
packages, that's another kettle...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad

2015-03-04 Thread Gregory Kramida
Alexander,

what exactly is happening to your desktop? This bug is symptomatic on
laptops with touchpads & nvidia graphics cards, USB mice seem to be the
the work-around and non-NVidia cards seem to be OK. Perhaps it's a
different bug that's affecting your desktop?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 939950] Re: Dual head failing with Radeon [workaround]

2015-03-04 Thread Ryan Harkin
Is this bug also relevant for a dual card setup?

I have two HD6570 cards rather than just one, so my 2nd monitor appears
as monitor 3 in the AMD control centre.

When I open the AMD Catalyst Catalyst Control Center (Administrative),
enable the 3rd monitor, reboot, and it's not saved the setting and the
monitor is still disabled. This all works fine on 12.04: I did a clean
install yesterday to verify.

The open source drivers work, to a fashion. But they are so buggy and
laggy that they're barely usable. I'd prefer to use OSS drivers, but
not the ones we have presently., but that's a different issue...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 551475] Re: amdcccle settings do not persist lucid

2015-03-04 Thread Ryan Harkin
I see this problem also. It worked in 12.04, but I can't remember if it
worked in 12.10, but it definitely hasn't worked since.

I have two HD6570 cards rather than just one.

I open the AMD Catalyst Catalyst Control Center (Administrative), enable
the 3rd monitor, reboot, and it's not saved the setting. As I said, it
worked fine on 12.04.

The open source drivers work, to a fashion. But they are so buggy and
laggy that they're barely usable.

Now to find a recent version of this bug for 14.04 or 14.10 and see if
anyone is making progress there
