2021-03-24 Thread DrJ
Same issue on a Yoga L380. Kernels 5.8.0-45 and 5.8.0-48 cause a total
freeze as soon as the stylus approaches the screen, but booting into
kernel 5.8.0-44 leads to the stylus working fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921286] [NEW] Desktop freeze and corruption after playing Steam game

2021-03-24 Thread Dario Menin
Public bug reported:

Steps for reproducing this issue:

   - Open Steam launching Age Of Empires 2 Definitive edition with discrete
graphics card
   - Play Game
   - Observe some stuttering in game, then close the game
   - Steam locks up and after a short time the whole desktop hangs and becomes
unresponsive (mouse pointer still moves, keyboard doesn't work, for example
alt+shift+fN)
   - In the meanwhile, the mouse cursor and some regions of the Steam window
become corrupted
   - System must be rebooted with sysrq REISUB

In reverse of my previous installation bisect, I can confirm that force
downgrading mesa to the previous major release results in these crashes

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1918455] [NEW] FFE: src:xwayland

2021-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Xorg upstream has forked xwayland from xorg-server master with it's own
versioning, in order to get new functionality to the users now that new
major xserver releases have pretty much been abandoned.

This bug is to allow this separate source enter the archive past FF. It
replaces the xwayland binary from src:xorg-server.

The version is now at 21.0.99.902, meaning rc2 of 21.1. The final
release is expected later this month. It would be useful to have the
latest release in hirsute now that a wayland session is used by default.

The package is available in ppa:canonical-x/x-staging

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1920665] Re: Ubiquity KDE crash on try/install and from live session with "malloc(): unaligned tcache chunk detected"

2021-03-24 Thread Bob H
I have attempted to install from

kubuntu hirsute daily build 21-03-22
kubuntu hirsute daily build 21-03-23
kubuntu hirsute daily build 21-03-24

each version the insstallation fails.

Incidentally I noticed another change.

While the daily builds were installing correctly a procedure appeared on
screen, this no longer happens.

After booting the installation media, a self check ran with an on screen
display showing the stages the check was passing through.

The word Kubuntu appeared on screen and this display was beneath it.

Since the installation began to fail, the file check no longer shows and
although the word Kubuntu appears it disappears shortly after.

As it changed when installation began to fail, maybe there is a
connection?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921076] Re: My screen crashed

2021-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The 'xserver-xorg-video-intel' driver is old and should not be used. But
also the attached logs say you're not using it...

Next time the problem happens, please:

1. Take a photo of the screen.

2. Take a fresh system log by running:

   journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

3. Attach both the photo and the text file here.

2021-03-24 Thread Kamil
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I use the newest version of Ubuntu 20, and sometimes after boot i see a
corrupted image.
Then I turn it on recovery mode and I run 'sudo apt-get install
xserver-xorg-video-intel'.
After the operation and restart pc everything works correctly.
I think the problem is related with integrated graphics driver.

Hope you can fix the problem,
greetings
